What Did Europeans Eat In The Stone Age?
When there’s no written record of a culture – and the earliest examples of writing are around 5,000 years old – we have to rely on artifacts and biological remains. Authors of stone-age diet plans have relied on out of date and, well, half-digested archaeological evidence of what life was like thousands of years ago. Unfortunately, most “stone-age” or “paleo” diets rely on outdated methodology and iffy logic. Fortunately there are sources on what our stone age ancestors ate. Biological remains – like the food in mummies’ stomachs or chemical analysis of skeletons’ composition – are one source. Archaeological remains – like residues in pots, or tools made for use with certain food types – are another source. And since the mid-1900s, scholars have argued that language can provide clues about stone-age lifestyles, even in the complete absence of writing. Keep reading to learn more about how linguists have deciphered early foods, and what we know so far

“As long as you are worried about what others think of you, you are owned by them.”

Sorry tattoo fans, but your Celtic body art is really a Christian design
It is the instantly recognisable pattern of interlocking loops and knots used for Celtic art tattoos and jewellery - a seeming nod across millennia to Scotland’s ancient warriors, druids and bards. So inked fans of body-art will be pretty miffed to learn that these typical ‘Celtic’ designs are actually Christian art, according to experts.
It is just one of the myths which the first major British exhibition on the Celts being held for more than 40 years is exploring through a display of more than 350 treasures at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
Many exhibits have never been seen in Scotland before, such as the Gundestrup Cauldron, an intricately decorated silver vessel from Denmark. Highlights from Scotland include four gold Iron Age torcs unearthed in a field near Blair Drummond by a metal detectorist and a carved sandstone cross from Monifieth, Angus. Read more.

The craft of Dongyang wood carving is a traditional Chinese art form that dates as far back as the Tang Dynasty (700 AD). It involves carving incredibly intricate relief sculptures into everyday objects, such as tables, chairs, bed frames, stools, and and cabinets.

According to Polish costume blogger Karolina, the above videos are leaving out reality. As she was doing some research, she became more and more aware that beautiful faces and fashion we see on the photos, ads and fashion plates are just an idealistic version of reality. So here’s to reality: Watch Beauty Through The Decades The Realistic Way

As novels became more prominent during the 1700s, society and the media grew increasingly concerned that young people spent too much time reading books. They even went so far as to call it ‘reading rage,’ ‘reading fever,’ 'reading mania,’ and 'reading lust.’ Source
