Across the water in Verdemar, the Pirate King was hard at work. His extortionist Aloisio has already collected some very useful Intel, and more was on its way.

Cordelia was playing her role as beautiful wife, keeping a very close eye on her husband Thiago - whose name, by recent accounts, has come up in a few shadowy conversations recently.

Not surprising; he’s been distant. The Nobles have been in anticipation of an heir for quite some time - some even quietly wondering if Cordelia is capable of producing one at all.

She is. Will she, though? Not if she can help it.

After the Pirate King concluded his business at the docks, he received a message from an unlikely contact. 

Ermelinda has been around long enough to know that Otieno’s presence here is not coincidental. Perhaps they can help each other.

And how would they do that, exactly?

Plainly put, Ermelinda has reason to believe Cordelia loyalties lie not with her husband, but with another. Seeing as how Otieno knows Cordelia, well, he’s probably already aware of that.

If he can convince her to abdicate, she can have her wild life of adventure, and Thiago can take another wife in order to produce heirs.

Otieno tells Ermelinda he is certain he has no idea what she’s talking about - Cordelia rose to the occasion and took her role as wife as obligated; as for heirs, surely they’ll come in time.

Ermelinda gives him a knowing look - they both know that isn’t true. 

Otieno returns her knowing look in kind - Cordelia is not the only one with an adventurous past; he has firsthand knowledge of that.

And - as for her son Thiago, he has it on good authority that his browsing history on OnlySims indicates he’s not exactly the longsuffering husband himself.

Otieno suggests her focus would be best served elsewhere; like finding a suitable husband for her daughter, Sofia. If she asks nicely, he may be able to help her with that.

And if she plays nicely and assist him, they could both walk away happy.

That certain thing in his eyes reminded her of how persuasive he can be; Ermelinda picked up her phone and made a few calls.

Yes. Perhaps they can both walk away happy.

Shé successfully avoided Sani like the plague following their kiss during a moment of vulnerability. But it left Sani confused and a bit curious? There's a lot being left unsaid between the two. They're supposed to be rivals. Enemies. Something's changed...

If you’d ask the recon if he thought he’d ever find himself engrossed in a riveting dinner conversation with a child, he’d likely have told you no.  but that’s exactly what happened tonight.

It only ended when a Afua told him she had to clear the table and go to bed.

She has a firm belief in responsibility and does her chores without being asked. She feels it’s her duty to help her grandfather as much as she can since he works so hard to take care of her.

Though impressive, the Viscount couldn’t help but feel a little bitter watching her dedication - here was this little disciplined young lady who has accepted her lot in life without complaint, while her actual father acts as though she doesn’t exist.

She deserves better.

Ekene agrees, but he knows their life must be the way that it is in order to keep her safe and away from the prying eyes of noble life.

At the same time, he’s begun to allow himself to dream ( just a little bit ) about the kind of life his granddaughter may be able to have once the Marquess and the Viscount make their move.

Ginza Penthouse - Exterior (Final)

Ok I swear this is the last time you'll see this penthouse lol. The exterior is done! I'll work on the floorplan later but I really wanna build out the shells for an additional apartment, a small townhouse and the holiday home. On to the next...

Decided to finish my astronaut facility neighborhood, in Evergreen Harbor, before officially tackling my Del Sol. (I need that done for my gameplay plans more.)

I also have an amazing transformation planned for the other neighborhoods of Evergreen but that involves me doing some HEAVY lifting. I found a positive in that world being so empty!

Ekene was a little surprised when the marquess requested to visit, but between his sense of duty and his curiosity, there was no way he was going to decline.

The last talk with the Marquess revealed he was putting the pieces about Afua, but Ekene neither confirmed or denied.

The Marquess told Ekene he understands and respects his responsibility to protect this family; their visit is an effort to offer them even more security.

The Viscount carefully revealed his intentions towards the Baroness Juniper - Ekene tells him he is very fond of her; she has gone out of her way to befriend and support them.

He also mentioned he is well aware of the Duke’s intentions towards the Baroness as well - he told him all about his beautiful daughter Aghata.

Ekene was hesitant to say more; particularly with his granddaughter in the room - they had been speaking and coded language as best they could up till now, but the message was clear.

He told them some leaders are greedy; they consume in an effort to fill an empty hole inside of them and nothing can fill it.

He told them the Baroness is very intelligent and he is glad she’s managed to keep her distance from him this long. He marveled at the strategy and sheer will it must’ve taken. Now that he has properly met the Viscount, he understands her motivation.

The Marquess (2)

As not to be caught slipping, the Grand Duchess extended an invitation to the Marquess, his royal adviser, and the Healer to join them at the palace dinner this evening. She then prepared to take her leave so she could reckon with her emotions.

The Marquess thanked her and accepted graciously, then suggested they should finish the more personal part of their conversation before he does.

The personal part of their conversation? 

She knows exactly what he’s talking about - he just told her he would challenge the Count to a dual for her heart if the Darong Dynasty passes an adjoining decree that recognizes Dembele bloodlines that live in different worlds; dual citizenship, if you will.

The Grand Duchess would not allow herself to break; it was hard enough being this close to him after all of these years. It was hard enough looking into that face. There was no way she was going to allow herself to hope. Not at all. Not on this day.

The Marquess felt her resistance, so he made his intentions plain - he stepped aside out of respect for her marriage, but now? He has plans to stake his claim.

The Grand Duchess reminded him that laws and decrees take time.

The Marquess reminded her that he has already proven himself to be a patient man.

Then he told her he is looking forward to dinner.

I thought about migrations and why the Grand Duchess would have a lost love in another world. Why has she been alone so long after her husband died? Why couldn’t she marry the man she loved first?

✏️ Sims lore would make him ineligible if he did not live in that world, but what other worlds would fit him? I thought of pirates, Moors and misplaced Africans. Tartosa seemed perfect with all of that beautiful water.

Then I came across this rare Igbo tribe - once I saw this beautiful boy 👇🏾, Boliagi was born.

Which led me to another thought/topic: eurocentrism

✏️ I love unique features in people, but I stay diligent to be mindful of colorism, texturism, etc as I consider how I will incorporate that in my character building.

It’s always bugged me a bit when some people equate certain features with certain ethnicities; genetics is so nuanced. Africa is the blueprint.

I love when my mind goes down research rabbit holes that open up my scope. I love making characters that represents what I find.
