I didn’t think I’d still have to write this after 2 months have passed. I thought finally people could settle down and stop hating on Ant for his faults. I really wanted to ignore all the hate but I just couldn’t keep this one in. YES, Ant was wrong in driving drunk. YES, Ant should feel guilty and be punished (He pleaded guilty and was punished for his faults). And YES, people shouldn’t approve on drink driving. What people don’t seem to understand is:

1.       None of us fans approve Ant’s drink driving. We never said that and we never will. Of course we don’t like that he did it. We were also very shocked when we heard the news. We don’t approve it. We didn’t want this to happen. I don’t feel sorry for drunk drivers. I only feel sorry for Ant that he was going through such a hard time and is now given an even harder time.

2.       Of course we care about the people who were involved in the accident – and I mean every person. Yes, we do care about the child. Fortunately nobody was hurt (!). Having been in a car accident myself I know how horrible it is. Especially during and right after the crash but the people involved even wished Ant the best. If they can forgive him we should, too. The little girl was brought in the hospital for check-up. A check-up is common after such a crash. I don’t know the complete circumstances but I bet the child was crying / screaming. That’s what a 3-year old would do. She was shocked. I bet everyone was.

3.       Ant pleaded guilty in court. He is sorry for what he has done. Of course he didn’t want that to happen. He is a caring man. He always has been. Ant has been through so much trouble the past two years – probably so much we can’t even imagine how bad it was. He deserves a break! And I don’t only mean from TV but from people who hate him for driving drunk.

4.       Ant is getting the treatment he needs now. He looks so much better than he did some months ago. Yes, it will take time until he is completely better. I really wish he will get better and healthy again. Nobody deserves to be in that misery. I wouldn’t wish anyone to be in his situation now – not even people I hate (although there are no people I hate from the bottom of my heart). No matter how angry I might be at people I wouldn’t want anyone to hate on him / her like some of the haters currently do – like telling him names I don’t want to repeat here; they are more than hurtful. And Ant definitely doesn’t deserve it.

Yes, I do support Anthony. But I don’t support him because of his faults. I support him because of all the good things he did in the last 30 years of working together with Declan. He helped people. He put so much money in charity. He helped many of my friends in this fandom to feel better and happy again when they were turned down by people they love. Ant (and Dec – of course) did so much for people. When Ant spoke out about his problems so many of my fandom-friends found the courage to speak out and get help themselves. I mean, it is sad something like this had to happen to give Ant a big wake-up but I believe he now realized that he wasn’t fine – but he is going to be. People hating on him just make it worse. It shouldn’t be any of our businesses. Yes, he made a mistake. If it was anyone none-famous nobody would care. People would read about it but drop it straight afterwards. I understand that Ant is a role-model to many people and that he probably should act as one but everyone makes mistakes. I really wish him the very best and send him my love. I really hope he will come back better and stronger than he ever was. Seeing the pictures of him in the last two weeks was great. He already looked so much happier and he will be even better when he come back. I just hope he takes all the time he needs no matter how long it might take. All the best to you, Anth! Anne
