This is my crafting blog and it is a sideblog. Just a few notes.

this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this, which i have only tested at a small scale and not this final version exactly (where i have done such things as further widening the cheeks and finalizing the leg shapes.) i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐

woah this got big!! and after another try i have another untested tweak for yall. this should help the weird pinchy side seams out. yey
My first attempt! I made the pattern a bit smaller as I wanted it to be able to fit in a pocket, but then (accidentally but perhaps unavoidably) sewed it with a wider seam allowance than the resized pattern indicated, so the face is proportionally a bit too big and I lost some detail in the ear shape. I'm pleased with it though! It was fun to make something and to do some handsewing.

ultimate portability for a kumihimo project: half-empty roll of paper towels (kept from unraveling by being wrapped in string) inside a big souvenir cup. like I'm definitely going to be printing something to mimic this setup in a prettier way but this works

I finally beat my demons back with a broom found some motivation to work on projects and found this:
No matter how excited you are for sewing, you need to iron your fabric.
I don’t like specific lists of things to accomplish in a year so I don’t vibe with make9s or long term project planning BUT I do love checking off squares and marking off things I did so I’m trying bingo.
No specific patterns or designs, theoretically fiber craft agnostic, hopefully a good mix of being encouraged to try new things without being overly prescriptive about it.

In horrid biphobic news, I just got my gorgeous beautiful wonderful book on fabric dyeing with fungi in the middle of fucking February, when all outside is a frozen waste with nary a living plant or mushroom to be seen.
Woe is me. I want to go root around in the woods after mushrooms like a bog witch and see if I can find the ones that make wool go pretty colors.

Picked up some scrap fabric to make a mock up of project one. I’m also considering dyeing some fabric as well.
I’ve been pretty sick for a few days so progress is slow right now.
Ah yes, my favorite part of sewing, four days of washing and ironing.
What started as a duvet cover and some curtains will hopefully be a chemise and dress.
