To celebrate the launch of my custom portrait site, I’m hosting two contest where the winner will receive a free digital illustration of their winning photo. The current running contests are below:

1. Cute Kid Contest The photo with the most “likes” by February 1, 2012 will win. The submitting parent will receive 1 free digital illustration of their child’s winning photo. Awesome, no? Quite!

2. Bitchin’ ‘stache Contest He (or she) who receives the most “likes” for a photo of their lovely selves with a bitchin’ mustache will win 1 free digital illustration of their winning photo. Contest runs through March 1, 2012.

My first tattoo (my largest, over 8 hours of work in two sittings) is one of my favorite paintings, The Angel of Meat by Mark Ryden. This was done maybe five years ago at 8th Day Tattoo in Jacksonville, Florida, by Graham (who is spectacular!). It has nothing to do with whether I’m vegetarian or not, I just love the painting. I’m an art nerd, through and through.

The strangest experience I’ve had with it was at the Evelyn Evelyn show in NYC last year. On my way out of the theater, Sxip Shirey stopped me, asked if that was a naked lady holding a steak on my arm, then proceeded to bite and fiercely gnaw (and drool) on it with his teeth. He then proclaimed, “has Amanda seen this? She has to see this!” prior to dragging me upstairs, by my arm, and showing the tattoo to both Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley. I think he said something along the lines of, “look at this crazy shit! There’s a steak on her arm!”
