Despite my constant mistakes, God has remained constant in His goodness. I didn't deserve His blessings, yet He gave them freely. He protected my dignity when my sins were many, and He answered my heart in ways more beautiful than I imagined. He is my refuge when the world gets loud and my comfort when I am alone. I am overwhelmed by a grace I could never earn.
I remained silent, without reproach, while Zaynab’s affection drifted away,
Yet you accused me and said: “You are the one at fault.”
I continued hoping to restore what had been severed between us,
And reconciliation is best achieved through goodness and right conduct.
Since I turned away, a fire has burned within my heart,
Its heat blazing and flaring ever stronger.
For the burning pain of separation is a torment,
And separation is among the greatest hardships and the most difficult to bear.
-abū al-maʿālī al-hītī.
“Fear and Hope are the two complementary wings that allows the lover to take flight towards the Beloved.
You fear His severity and have hope in His Gentleness but ultimately both are transcended and held by Love.”
One of my favorite clips is of the martyr Qasim Al-Jamous on his wedding day during the early years of the Syrian Revolution, 2013 I believe. There is such defiance in continuing life despite all of what they went through to persevere.
He was from the sons of Dar'aa, and was one of the more famous voices who would lead the chants during protests, and also defended his land when time came. He was from those lucky to see the early days and to see the miracle of its victory.
He passed away due to a car accident in March last year. May God reward him and may we remember these names for all they did.
Always come back to these videos so, so mcuh.3

Was scrolling twitter and coming across this supplication saying,
"We seek refuge in You from the familiarity of sin and the heaviness of repentance and the belittlement of transgression" and it truly made me pause a good bit afterwards.
I think the part about repentance feeling heavy on us resonated a lot as there is an awareness that we are transgressing against ourselves, and we know we were made for more than those things in this life we were given.
Have been reading The Brothers Karamazov and this passage is my favorite so far
I really like how Dostoevsky uses father Zossima to reinforce the importance of self-sacrifice in life and the role we play in the harm of others.
Still a passage I often think of
How excellently my master Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulusi, may God sanctify his secret, spoke in his interpretation of God’s words:
‘There has come to you a Messenger’ [9:128],
meaning, there has come to you from the presence of the Absolute Unseen to open the locked door,
‘from among yourselves’ [9:128],
meaning, from your own selfhood. By ‘selfhood’ he meant that he [i.e. the prophet ﷺ] is the universal human reality, so all is, as Gabriel, peace be upon him, said, from him and to him ﷺ.
-Al-Nafahāt al-Qudsiyyah by Sh. Muhammad Makki al-Din Ibrahim
"the disappointment i feel after being vulnerable is not rooted in the act of opening up but in the realization that sincerity is often received with far less care than it takes to offer it. there is something profoundly disorienting about exposing the most fragile parts of yourself only to discover that the person listening did not hold them with the same gravity you carried them with."
One of the common miracles of the Messenger ﷺ was how he’d multiply food, and he always did so in the context of sharing it with family and his companions.
As an eternal fragment of this blessing, whenever we split our own food with others with pure intention, we always feel that we’ve eaten our own fill anyway.
-Abdullah Yousef.

Watched This Is Not a Burial, It's a Resurrection recently and it is such a beautiful film that centers grief, colonialism and resistance.
Mary Twala is just amazing in every scene she appears in, you feel her emotions run through you.
My Lord, quench our hearts with what we hope for, grant us a share of tranquility that never runs out, and make what is coming more beautiful than what we prayed for.
“Pain was never a sign of love. Love is something else entirely — love is reassurance and peace of mind.”
-Ghazi Abdul Rahman Al-Gosaibi.
“May you be blessed with repeated returns to the Sacred House (the Ka‘bah), again and again. May Allah accept from you the obligatory acts and the Sunnah acts. May goodness and blessings welcome you. May joy return to you on this Eid, and may He make it glad tidings of a happy pilgrimage, abundant خير (goodness), and a long life.”
“O most noble of those who greet morning and evening — may you be delighted by this Eid al-Adha. May Allah acquaint you with as many joys as the number of those who perform Hajj, ‘Umrah, sa‘y, and sacrifice.”
-Al-Tha'alibi
I do think the debilitating nature of grief comes from wrestling with wants and needs from people who may or may not be in your life, things you wished you experienced, and similar feelings found in people.
It's an incredibly difficult thing to feel inside yourself, and coming to terms with those things isn't easy in any manner. Sometimes I wonder if separation from attributive things or gradual acceptance are ways out of it, but the latter just seems so heavy.
I do always think of people who go through these things and I truly hope God makes a way for them. They are deserving of it.

In Majmu' al-Fatawa, Ibn Taymiyyah — may Allah have mercy on him — said:
“The supplication of an absent person for another absent person is more likely to be answered than the supplication made in someone’s presence, because it is more complete in sincerity.”
“And for the perceptive/free-hearted person, a mere hint is enough!”
I hope we are all able to share the affection and love we have for others through supplication for them in private.
They are deserving of our prayers and we hope that what we love for them to have also manifests itself in our life also.
