An Orange Balloon

One of my favourite events at Red Balloon is the day when we have our Reading Rocks Game. This semester, I decided to play Bowling, Mystery Box and Jeopardy with my J2MB, T6MC and T6MD students, respectively.

(T5TC also played Mystery Box, but I don’t have any pictures of them playing, unfortunately).

Another challenge that has been totally overcome this year was to make a Be A Chef recipe that I had never done before.

I have to confess that, whenever Be A Chef comes, I try my best to make, along with the students, a recipe that I know that will be easy, fun and quick to make. This was definitely not what I had in mind when my coordinator suggested I give them brownies as an option to choose from. 

Today, my J2MB and I have celebrated the end of Planning 4 with a Ballooners’ Mindset Slumber Party! It was really cool because we could remember why challenges are important in our lives and they also were happy to realise that they have been learning a lot this year!

And we’re starting the semester with our rules revised and revisited!

Today we had a Maker/STEAM Activity with the kids, but we’re unfortunately having classes online. As much as they love working with Dash & Dot, we couldn’t do it today. 

Saint Patrick’s Day is by far one of the days that I enjoy celebrating the most! However, this year we had to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day at home. 

Another activity that I really liked doing for the celebration of our Ballooners’ Mindset project on Planning 3 was a Chocolate Race. This time, though, it was a REAL chocolate race! Students had to run around the school looking for Easter Eggs that contained a clue (in English, obviously). The first team who found all the clues got the chocolate. The other team... well, they also got chocolate, but they couldn’t choose which kind of chocolate they preferred. haha

What are the odds!

Ballooners’ Mindset celebration for planning 3 was an Extra Be a Chef session. To THREE of my groups! Here you can see pictures of my T4MD group (pictures 1 and 2), T3ME (pictures 3 to 6) and T6TD (pictures 7 to 10).

We all have had loads of fun, ate DELICIOUS cakes and could also learn how to make really nice desserts while putting our English knowledge into practice.

Yes, it was simple, but our T5TD Be A Chef was nice. We have done our best to practice key language in order to create the recipe and, at the same time, to prepare a nice dessert.

And yesterday I had Be A Chef with those two hilarious boys, and it couldn’t be funnier! We made a mess, but at least we had coconut sweet in the end! Yummy!
