Sylvie IS Loki when they’re trying to claim that they didn’t just end up making the Loki series about an entirely different character

But she ISN’T Loki when they’re trying to argue that she’s “her own character”

This is a guy who:

• successfully enchants 50% of the giant eldritch horror entity that devours universes and tamed the entire multiverse, on his first try

• can telekinetically lift an entire building on the fly without breaking a sweat

• has the power to create an illusion the size of a large city

• whether for nefarious reasons or not, is literally the one that intentionally brought the avengers together and then almost succeeded in beating all 6 of them by himself

• overpowered, dethroned, and enchanted the literal Allfather and trapped him that way for 4 years

• is the only character we’ve seen onscreen that has the power to travel between worlds without the use of any magical object

• isn’t even a nexus being, yet almost every version of him in every universe is a timeline breaker and he’s created more nexus events than any other being in TVA history

But then the writers turn around and make him get beat up by humans to show how badass Sylvie is by comparison or make him get his ass kicked by Valkyrie to show how badass she is by comparison or make him get punked by Dr Strange in less than 30 seconds to show how badass he is by comparison or make him get outsmarted by Thor to show how badass he is by comparison or-

But in regards to Ragnarok specifically, they just kinda breeze past the fact that Loki, as Odin, told all of Asgard that he was Jotun? They do it in a silly funny haha way, bc that’s what Ragnarok is (in regards to Loki especially); the silly funny haha Thor movie, but like… what happened to the racism? What happened to the deeply held hatred of the Jotnar in Asgard that sparked Thor 2011 to begin with? Is everyone just cool now? What happened to Jotunheim? We kinda never acknowledge their existence outside of ‘lol Loki’s blue sometimes isn’t that weird? anyway-’

I feel like most “punk” characters are just visually alternative, and maybe a little “stick it to the man”, but that’s about it. They ultimately don’t stick the landing when it comes to the values the punk community has

But Hobie does!!! He backs his words up with his actions! He sticks to what he believes in, causes chaos, fights fascists, is an instigator, is anti-establishment (including the spider society), he has blue and yellow coded laces (as always these animators are amazing and did their fucking research), and he literally disrupts every scene he’s in with his art style!!

And most importantly, he CARES about his friends, which is what I think a lot of “punk” characters ultimately are missing. He’s the ultimate hype man for Pavitr and Miles, he helps Miles escape like 2 minutes after meeting him, he watches out for Gwen when she can’t go back home, he talks sweetly to Mayday when no one else is listening

Anyways I sat there in the theatre watching this chaotic SOB thinking

the show’s “logic” is completely contradictory. they basically made an anti loki show that is a complete character assassination but pretended that they were gonna give the fans what they wanted. so they made a show about him calling himself a pathetic narcissistic loser but tried to pretend that was self love. also they can’t write.
