Hi. I was wondering, have you ever thought about what the relationship between King Wilhelm and Gothel was actually like in Barbie as Rapunzel? I know she was in love with Wilhelm at one point and he only saw her as a friend, but I've always been quite curious about it

So, my thought is that Gothel was a young witch, who's family had lived comfortably in the forest for generations. Young Prince Wilhelm got lost within the woods one day and met Gothel there. He was intrigued by the strange young woman who guided him out of the woods, and began visiting her, and having her visit him in turn, inviting her to parties and balls and began to act more and more infatuated with her as time went on.
Gothel, for her part, had intended to use the prince she'd lured into the forest and placed a love spell on to gain greater power in the kingdom, but soon found herself truly falling in love with him, and convinced herself that he loved her as well.
Her plans were foiled, however, when another magical young woman appeared in the kingdom. Princess Lilac had been traveling thru Wilhelm's kingdom as part of a quest from her mother, Queen Rayla of the Cloud Kingdom, to prove herself.
The princess quickly saw that Wilhelm was under a love spell, and worked to fight against Gothel's control of him. In the course of this adventure, Lilac sadly lost her magic, but gained Wilhelm's True Love, and this managed to free Wilhelm from the false love spell.
He recalled Gothel only as a dear friend, but nothing more. Heartbroken and humiliated, Gothel retreated back into the woods, plotting her revenge on the couple. Eventually kidnapping their young daughter Rapunzel.
Little did she know that the silver hairbrush she'd taken along with the princess would be later enchanted by Queen Rayla, as it lay within the magical starlight for the first time in years. The Cloud Queen's magic would turn the hairbrush into a paint-brush, that allowed her grandaughter the means to her eventual freedom...

Edit: Oh, I'm also thinking that King Wilhelm's Kingdom and King Frederick's Kingdom are the two kingdoms in Barbie Princess and the Pauper in my Barbieverse.
