Tiny steps in a long and concentrated effort to understand and explore colors with subject matter I enjoy.

Some wips that I'll paint up soon. I'm currently thinking about the use of colors for storytelling. Both scenes are bits of visual development for the game we're currently making.

Drawing the beautiful 4,854 year old Methuselah tree, the exact location of which is held secret for its protection. I read a book that tells of how trees “whisper of days gone by” and it’s lovely to think of the treasure trove of stories that this silent keeper must hold. It’s like a remnant of ancient magic living in our modern world.

A small experiment on making soft + lost edges with brushes. I’m currently smitten by texture and I seem to be moving from my purple phase to a green one. Approaching my studies like puzzles to solve or experiments to test, observe and sometimes destroy things is really fun 😊

Last year I took Will Weston’s Drawing for Composition class (self-paced) and I’ve been learning quite a bit about the design principles. I’m enjoying the challenge of rewiring how I think as I draw. This was my homework for week 1.

I spend a lot of breaks watching short films and I’m very inspired by them. I love learning from stills, but mostly I just really enjoy being told interesting stories. If anyone has any lovely short film recs, please link me! 😊
