Safe Space Malaysia

We’re currently a small team, Sharina & myself, and some regular workshop hosts that put together a Safe Space Retreat for women in Malaysia to come spend a weekend with us, learn new skills or polish old ones, learn more about their creative selves and also exercise (quite literally) their physicality. 

Safe Space aspires to continuously provide a platform for women to be themselves and express themselves in a safe, non-judgemental environment. 

We are planning more things for 2020, including stand alone workshops, more educational Seminars (we hosted two this year regarding Surviving Sexual Assault), and of course, our annual retreat.

Emotional stress really is a thing. I’ve been feeling restless recently, the desire to move around and get out of Boston for a while growing in me everyday. And having to just stick around here because of real responsibilities--like school--kind of makes me feel trapped. 

But yes, I know this is where I’m meant to be and you bet your butt that I wouldn’t ditch it for anything. 

It’s just that my mind has been clustered with thoughts about the future that an open space where I don’t know anyone is just what I need right now. I don’t know what I’m going to do about it right this moment. But I’ll figure it out. 

I’m looking to go down to Pennsylvania to my favourite creek and spend a weekend with my good friend Brendan and his family (baby included--I know, I LOVE babies) but we’ll see how time and money permits. 

Even my body has been telling me to calm the heck down. My menstrual cycle started again 11 days early. How inconvenient. What a mess. 

But I’ll be okay. I know myself and I know how to deal with things myself. And I wanted to you to know that if you’re going through shit right now, you can help yourself. No one knows you like you do. You are capable of hoisting yourself out of the dark hole because you know YOU put yourself in it. 

Step one is to admit you put yourself there, next is to get out. 

Once you’re out you’re probably gonna find more holes that you want to hide in, and it’s up to you, you deserve to be alone in a deep sunken place sometimes, but make sure to come out to play again. 

Big things coming for you, big things coming for me. Let’s all be on the surface though for that to happen, and I promise I’ll hold your hand to support.
