     “ fucking honestly -- doesn’t he ever get bored ? from all this world domination bullshit ? ” anna gave a weary shake of her head, deciding to take another sip of the orange juice instead of working herself up. “ a theme ? that’s the hard part. see, i’m having a boy and a girl. i have 0 idea what to go for so we got the essentials like cribs and changing stations and drawers, but no decorations yet. any ideas ? ”

     “ yeah, i draw the line at the few post-transformation minutes after a run. ” she grinned, shaking her head. having rory was nothing less than a blessing and even though she was never that good with words, anna reminded herself again to make sure she’d have rory know how much she appreciated her. “ thank you. now it’s less scary. oh and -- if i do decide to have max in there too, please don’t let me punch him or something. those pregnancy blogs make you find out a lot more than you intend to and apparently it happens a lot. ”

      it took cassie to literally touch and pull at her for anna to snap back into reality from her state of shock, not even realizing she had been pleading to a total stranger moments ago. blinking, anna noticed her eyes watery with the amount of smoke around, throat starting to burn. “ cassie, ” the werewolf gasped, hands gripping her forearms tight. she tried to swallow the bitterness, inhaling deeply before shaking her head. “ i saw some people get out since i got here but -- i don’t know if there’s any in there ... i don’t know if enzo’s in there, cassie, i gotta know he’s not. fuck - he can’t be in there ! ” 

     “ i know you wouldn’t. ” anna said, nodding herself as she squeezed her sister’s hand tightly and reassuringly. “ but i can’t ask that of you -- don’t seek him out on your own. please. ” she swallowed, letting her facade as the strong woman crumble for a moment as she seeked the other werewolf’s embrace, leaning her head against the other’s shoulder, letting out a sigh. “ but i could trust you two to protect each other -- you and max. i’d -- i’d feel a lot relieved if i knew neither of you are alone out there. ”

     “ i’ll keep a safe distance, you don’t worry about me now. ” not while there might still be more of their packmates in immediate danger with the fire. she knew that normally, those words would be of no effect since everyone and their dogs knew how anna could never stay away from trouble, especially when the trouble was for her loved ones, but still being pregnant to the twins made it impossible for her to dive straight into danger right now.  “ we stick together no matter what -- everyone knows that. ” she agreed, almost relieved until she heard that alina didn’t know where enzo was either. “ what do you mean ? he could be inside ? ” she questioned, looking back to the bar on fire. “ shit. we gotta find him before anything else. it’s our alpha -- it’s our ... it’s enzo for fuck’s sake. ”

the werewolf’s whole focus was on the other person at the moment -- all that she can think of being saving the bar and keeping everyone safe. despite how it might seem from the outside, hunter’s moon meant a lot for the wolves, and a lot more to anna. so when the woman spoke, anna took a glance at the fire first, then around the crowd before nodding her head quickly. “ yes ---- yes i got that.” she breathed heavily, determination quickly being painted over her face. she was just about to walk away to do what she was told before she stopped, reaching out to touch the other’s arm, gently and less hurriedly this time. “ be careful.” after the woman’s approach to the situation and seeing her willing to help, she felt the need to at least do that much to remind her to be careful. without another word she turned around and began to move people away, which was thankfully not too hard given that they were mostly the pack and despite her age, she always had the pack mom thing to her.

“ the same day this whole ... the walking dead thing started.” she said, swallowing the lump in her throat. anna was a strong woman, she could normally handle herself - feelings like fear included - but the situation she was in right now... she couldn’t help it. she was scared. “ max told me to trust him with it. but -- that bastard got him last time, it’s just - it’s fucking frustrating.”

“ yes, sherlock.” anna grinned, shaking her head. when she heard that rory would do that, though, the werewolf couldn’t help but throw her arms around the other. “ i knew i could count on you.” she sighed, pulling away. “ you know, you don’t have to actually watch it ... please don’t.” she chuckled, shaking her head. “ i just ... need you to be there. i don’t want some random nurse to be the first one to hold and bathe and clothe my kids when they are born. i trust you and cassie with that, if you’re still in.”

had it been any other situation -- anna not being the ward of enzo and kat the one who broke his heart -- the two could actually get along well. they both had fire within their blood; it was quite obvious. but anna was the kind to strike over people for one single mistake if it was something important to the werewolf, and there wasn’t anyone more important than enzo to anna, just his equals; max and her babies. so she remained just the way she was, arms crossed, a frown on her face. “ i don’t give two fucks about wallace or the clave or mermaids, fairies, pixies, unicorns -- whatever the hell there is out there.” she said with a huff, lifting her shoulders. “ so don’t bother with that talk with me.” anna said, the frown on her face changing into something else, a mix of both weariness and quiet anger. “ haven’t you heard of ... band aids don’t fix bullet holes ? look, katerina. it won’t change anything now. what’s done is done and the best you can do is ---- just stop. leave him be. "

     hearing the girl out, anna gave a quick nod of her head, taking a few steps away from the scene. hands resting on her bump worriedly, she watched it all happen; the girl holding out her hand and making everything fine... just like that ? if it wasn’t for the runes, she would have thought of her to be a warlock -- or even a mermaid, if they could do such thing anyway. confused, she approached her again. “ how the fuck did you -- ” she gasped, shaking her head. “ shadowhunters can do that ? ”

     taking note of the woman’s ears, anna huffed, easily balancing herself after the harsh push. “ what are you gonna do, off-brand poison ivy ? ” she let it out with a low growl, the change of emotions from worried to angry surely turning the heads of the pack around by making her scent change. 

     hearing the familiar voice, anna turned to look at alina, a hand reaching for her to both ground herself and check if she was okay. she was one of the people anna held very dear and to see her hurt would really pain the pregnant she-wolf too. “ i - ” while anna had thought of not engaging with the fire directly, she hadn’t considered the smoke and in all her worry, she actually failed to see it fill her lungs. to not worry alina, though, she tried not to cough, exhaling deeply. “ okay -- okay ... ” she mumbled as she took a step back, the hot wind from the fire swaying her hair as a few sparkles threw around. “ is everyone safe ? where’s enzo ? oh fuck ---- has anyone seen him ? ”

     as soon as the familiar arms wrapped around her figure, anna forgot about the person immediately, own arms enveloping around the alpha as she let out a sigh of relief. for the moment she was too worried to see, but this was another moment that she was reminded of how important enzo was to her -- he simply meant the world and she now knew that with him, there wasn’t anything that couldn’t be overcomed. “ but this is our place -- there must be some way that i can be safe and helpful. ” she demanded, fingers wrapping around his arms. “ we help each other. always. ”

     “ mhm. welcome home, then. or whatever’s left of it, y’know. ” words lacking sincerity in great amounts, the werewolf crossed her arms over the almost seven-month bump, feeling no less dominant or strong against the mermaid. it wasn’t like she would dare to lay a hand on her, anyway, but this was a way of her getting ready in the case of a verbal fight. “ from a gal to another, take it as you may, you shouldn’t have come back. ” she said, unable to help a low growl escaping her lips after the other’s words. “ che cazzo ? my loyalties lay within enzo, the pack and ---- max... here. ” she finally said, hissing when she remembered once again who katerina was to him. “ i, for one, don’t run. ”
