â âââââ THE LION KING SENTENCE STARTERS.
â What do you want me to do, dress in drag and do the hula? â â I despise guessing games. â â Oh, goody. â â Yes. Well, forgive me for not leaping for joy. â â When Iâm King, whatâll that make you? â â Youâre so weird. â â You have no idea. â â Sing something with a little bounce in it. â â Iâve got a lovely bunch of coconuts. â â Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head⌠â â Hakuna Matata. Itâs our motto. â â Whatâs a motto? â â Nothing. Whatâs a motto with you? â â Did I miss something? â â Let me out! Let me out! â â Please donât eat me. â â Whoa. Talk about your fixer-upper. â â I canât go back. What would it prove, anyway? â â You canât change the past. â â You said youâd always be there for me! But youâre not. â â Itâs because of me. Itâs my fault. â â Ahh, so you havenât told them your little secret. â â Itâs not true. Tell me itâs not true. â â No! It was an accident! â â Itâs your fault heâs/sheâs dead. Do you deny it? â â Then youâre guilty. â â No, Iâm not a murderer! â â Friends? I thought he/she said we were the enemy. â â Donât ever do that again! Carnivores, ugh! â â Weâre pals, right? â â I donât wonder; I know. â â The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars. â â I always thought they were balls of gas burning billions of miles away. â â Fireflies that, uh⌠got stuck up on that big bluish-black thing. â â Everything the light touches is our kingdom. â â A kingâs time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. â â Whatâs happened to you? â â Youâre right, Iâm not. Now are you satisfied? â â You know youâre starting to sound like my father. â â The sooner we get to the waterhole, the sooner we can leave. â â So where are we really going? â â Right. So how are we going to ditch the dodo? â â Itâs a tradition going back generations. â â Well, when Iâm king, thatâll be the first thing to go. â â Well, in that case, youâre fired. â â Nice try, but only the king can do that. â â Your Majesty. I gravel at your feet. â â Why do I always have to save your⌠Ahhh! â â I know what I have to do. â â Temper, temper. â â Iâve been running from it for so long. â â Ow! Jeez, what was that for? â â It doesnât matter. Itâs in the past. â â Oh yes, the past can hurt. â â But from the way I see it, you can either run from it, or⌠learn from it. â â You see? So what are you going to do? â â First, Iâm gonna take your stick. â â Good! Go on! Get out of here! â â So youâd better have a good excuse for missing the ceremony this morning. â â Perhaps you shouldnât turn your back on me. â â I wouldnât dream of challenging you. â â Is that a challenge? â â Iâm afraid Iâm at the shallow end of the gene pool. â â Thereâs one in every family sire. Two in mine, actually. â â Pinned you again. â â Whatâs going on? â â Oh, dear, Iâve said too much! â â Well, Iâm brave. Whatâs out there? â â All the more reason for me to be protective. â â Well, I suppose youâd have found out sooner or later. â â Just promise me youâll never visit that dreadful place! â â You run along now and have fun. â â I wonder if its brains are still in there? â â Danger? Hah! I walk on the wild side. I laugh in the face of danger. Ha ha ha ha! â â Do you know what we do to kings who step out of their kingdom? â â Puh. You canât do anything to me. â â Oh, my, my, my. Look at the sun. Itâs time to go! â â Hey! Why donât you pick on somebody your own size? â â Iâm very disappointed in you. â â You could have been killed! â â You deliberately disobeyed me! â â I was just trying to be brave like you. â â Iâm only brave when I have to be. â â Being brave doesnât mean you go looking for trouble. â â Whoah. I guess even kings get scared, huh? â â But youâre not scared of anything. â â We were afraid it was somebody important. â â Tell me about it. I just hear that name and I shudder. â â Yeah, be prepared! Weâll be prepared⌠for what? â â Long live the king! Long live the king! â â If I told you, it wouldnât be a surprise, now would it? â â If you tell me, Iâll still act surprised. â â You are such a naughty boy/girl! â â You hear that? If you ever come back, weâll kill ya! â â So it is with a heavy heart that I assume the throne. â â Thatâs the stupidest thing I ever heard. â â You know, having a lion around might not be such a bad idea. â â Ah, youâre an outcast! Thatâs great. So are we. â â Iâm telling you, kid: this is the great life. No rules, no responsibilities⌠â â You mean a bunch of royal dead guys are watching us? â â Come on, I just heard about this great place. â â Iâm surrounded by idiots. â â Iâm kinda in the middle of a bath. â â So where are we going? It better not be anyplace dumb. â â Iâll show you when we get there. â â The waterhole? Whatâs so great about the waterhole? â â Youâre the king? And you never told us? â â You donât even know what Iâve been through! â â I finally got some sense knocked into me. â â Please have mercy, I beg you. â â You donât deserve to live. â â Why should I believe you? Everything you ever told me was a lie. â â This looks like a good spot to rustle up some grub. â â Iâll make it up to you, I promise. â â You got to put your past behind you. â â When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world. â â Bad things happen, and you canât do anything about it. â â Thereâs more to being a king than getting your way all the time. â â Iâm so hungry I could eat a whole zebra. â â Listen kid: if you live with us, youâre gonna have to eat like us. â â Come on, will you cut it out? â â I thought I knew, but now Iâm not so sure. â â Whatâs that supposed to mean, anyway? â â Iâm not the one whoâs confused. â â You donât even know who you are! â â This is just the way your father looked before he died. â â So whatâs the plan for getting past those guys? â â No wonder weâre dangling at the bottom of the food chain! â â Where is your hunting party? Theyâre not doing their job. â â Then you have sentenced us to death! â â Well, it sure is a surprise to see you⌠â â Hakuna Matata. It means âno worriesâ. â â These are rare delicacies. â â You have forgotten who you are and so have forgotten me. â â You are more than what you have become. â â How can I go back? Iâm not who I used to be. â â Will you stop following me? Who are you? â â Whatâs going on here? Whoâs the monkey? â

Grandma is a super tusker!Â
Elephants whose tusks are long enough to reach the ground are known as âSuper Tuskerâ. Unfortunately, due to poaching, there are less than 20 (!!) super tuskers left in the wild.Â
This one is a favorite of my wife :)

Man had returned to the jungle.
Sabor watched from the trees as the little steamboat chugged over the waves, as the men spilled out onto the sand, carrying strange items and shouting unknown words at each other. She watched them hack and slash their way through her forest, clearing trees to make their den. She watched the big man who was clearly their alpha roaring orders, never parting with his stick-that-brought-thunder. That she knew.
She could still remember the last time humans came to the jungle. They had done much the same: cut down trees and drove away her prey, and had built that enormous den of theirs on the tree by the ocean. The leopard had killed them just the same. The male had put up a fight, and had brandished the same thunder-stick that this new hunter had. Not knowing what it was, she had charged him full on. He took aim: and missed. The man barely had time to register that fact before he was on the floor, her claws in his chest, her teeth in his throat.
The mother had put up a valiant fight as well, brandishing a broken piece of wood like a spear as she stood over her baby. Sabor had broken that with a swipe of her paw, and brought the woman down just as easily. She had wanted to make a similar end of the infant, and wipe the plight of their kind from the jungle once and for all, but the she-ape had intervened, only just escaping Saborâs clutches by the whims of a human trap.
That had been many years ago. She would not make the same mistake again.

âI am Sarabi, Queen of the Pridelands. What brings you here?â
Tarzan had wanted to be brave and stand up to the lioness the way Kerchak would have, he didnât want her to see him as weak like a prey item, but something about her warm smile and comforting tone made him think of his mother, and before he knew it Tarzan was opening his heart to her.
âI...We...we were crossing the log bridge, and it was raining and slippery and and...I couldnât climb onto it, and I couldnât hold on the way the others could. I was w-walking at the back and t-then the bridge started to break and and I couldnât run as fast as the others could and I couldnât reach my m...She tried to pull me up but I couldnât...Then the fell down into the water and I-I-â
He wiped away the rapidly forming tears in with the back of his arm, then without thinking about it, grabbed hold of Sarabiâs leg and buried his face in her warm fur. She might eat him for crying on her, he thought, but the family was better off without him anyway.

Malkia watched with pride as the young lion ascended the spire of Pride Rock and roared out to his new subjects. She lifted her trunk and added her voice to the other roars, trumpets, brays, squawks, howls, and shouts of joy from the gathered mass of animals. The King and Queenâs death had weighed heavily on the whole Kingdom, none more so than her, who had been the coupleâs oldest friend, so it was good to lift that weight off of the animals, and find something to celebrate. Nothing was more worthy of that than Mufasaâs coronation.Â
Their sons had borne the worst of the grief though: Mufasa had been very open about it, finding comfort in Sarabi and even Zazu, but âScarâ had taken the deaths of his parents badly, and had shut himself away in his cave for days, refusing to speak to anyone. From the looks of things, he hadnât even came to his brotherâs ceremony.
The elephant stood near the cave once the ceremony was done and several of Mufasaâs personal friends came to congratulate him. She let herself drop a few tears in remembrance while she let the boy have his moments with Zazu, Sarabi, the lionesses, his other young cubhood friends, and Rafiki. Before the procession of herd leaders and figureheads could come forward, Malkia approached the boy she had taught and cared for all his life with a sad smile, though one that was filled with pride. The giant went to her knees before the King.
 âYour majesty.â

â whatâs all the fuss about? â
âSorry about them,â Tarzan laughed, watching Terk, Flynt, and Mungo run off screaming into the bushes at the sudden appearance of the big cat.Â
He had met the leopard when they were both young, so he had nothing to fear from this particular individual, though Tarzan had thought it best to keep his friend a secret from his family.
He grabbed a low branch and swung up to the ledge where Bahati stood, landing on his knuckles at her left side. He reached out with his left foot and gave her shoulder a gentle friendly shove.
âTheyâre not used to leopards. We should go though, before they bring Kerchak here.â
