About the Eclair Mystery and Reveal...
I still have a lot of things to say.
First of all, was this really a mystery? We had 4 characters that could have been Eclair and yet one of them was so favored that she received most of the attention and crucial hints all by herself. That's really unfair to the other candidates when you think about it.
Luluka was the key, and the directors made Eclair's identity extremely obvious by making her react to Kurea and Kurea only. She didn't even care about the other girls. That was a giveaway long before the reveal itself.
I am unhappy with it because they hyped this "mystery" for a month and wasted our time by favoring Kurea above everyone else. Eliza, Shiruku and Rei didn't even come close to the amount of hints and attention Kurea got by herself.
I guess this is what happens when she's the golden child among them even though she has the most bland and uninteresting personality. I was hoping they would use her as a red herring for the real candidate because I assumed the real Eclair wouldn't be as obvious as her. I expected Eclair to be someone that didn't get the entire attention. Because when you favor one character above others and give her everything, it stops being a mystery and becomes an annoying waste of time.
I really wanted Eclair to be Shiruku, she would have been an amazing adult Cure just like Butterfly. Then I found myself rooting for Rei to become a Cure as well. Both of them had great dynamics with Anna and Mikuru, Rei has saved Pochitan multiple times too, but unfortunately she didn't become a Cure.
If this was literally any other season Rei would have become a Cure by now. Saving a fairy, being attacked by villains, she did all of it and more. But because she didn't break a perfume bottle and cry over it, she didn't become Eclair. What a shame. What a huge letdown.
I would have been happier with Eliza too, because while I saw her as a side character I liked how creative and cheerful she was. An author Cure would be good! She would be using her experiences to write new fiction.
This "mystery" and hype fell short. I still don't understand why everyone is happy with this mess. Shiruku, Eliza and Rei deserved much better. Unless we get a 5th Cure among them, this season has nothing interesting left to offer.

Rei deserved being a Cure so much more than Kurea ever did. I hate this reveal so much.
Cure Eclair
I can't help how I feel. Feelings are something that happen with or without conscious input. Regardless of quality or presentation, if a movie or an episode does something I don't like, i don't like it, and no amount of logic or reasoning is gonna change how I feel.
To that end, as much as I can acknowledge Howa's reveal as Eclair is a fantastic episode technically, I'm still disappointed that Eclair ended up being the one girl I actively didn't want to be her. I liked Howa exactly where she was, the kind and attentive big sister like figure who bakes treats and offers life advice. She was really good in that support role. Hell, I wasn't even against her being a former Cure and Luluka's ex-partner. But I wasn't interested in her as a main character.
I wasn't interested in Shiruku as Eclair either, but she had fun interactions and her personality was fun too. Meanwhile, I was ride or die for Eriza from the start, loving her design and once her actual personality arrived in her second spotlight episode, I was all in on silly gal with a serious mode being Eclair. But Rei's last episode shot her up way high in my hopes for her, especially since her being Eclair would have given more time for Anna and Mikuru's school to shine, a location that's already woefully underutilized.
If you're happy with what we got, more power to you. Honestly, I'm glad you got her. But my hype train just came to a dead stop and we're only halfway through the show. My last hope for active enjoyment rather than passive remains in the hope Rei gets an amazing consolation episode/arc and that Mikuru's mysterious caretaker (who also knew the previous detectives apparently!?) gets her time to shine.
I understand how you feel, I was disappointed by the reveal as well. I really wanted Eclair to be Shiruku. I got Cure Butterfly vibes from her and loved how cheerful and brave she was. I thought having an adult Cure would be great for their dynamic.
Later on I really liked Rei and her dynamic with Pochitan, Anna and Mikuru. I found myself rooting for her to become a Cure. She saved Pochitan multiple times and wished to be a Precure. If this was any other season, she would have transformed by now.
Eliza was really creative, but I got the impression that she was meant to be a side character. Her impression on me wasn't as strong as Shiruku or Rei.
As for Kurea, I wanted her to be the red herring for real Eclair simply because her hints were too obvious and were being shoved down our throats. Even though this was supposed to be a mystery involving 4 candidates, she received all the attention, all the crucial hints and eventually the Eclair identity as well. I would have liked it much better if the real Eclair wasn't that obvious. If I was the director I would make it seem like Kurea, but then switch it to the real civilian identity for a plot twist.
Now THAT would have been the real mystery. Not this overdramatized mess we received today.
If you make a mystery with 4 characters and then extremely favor one of them, it stops being a mystery and turns into an annoying waste of time.

I really, REALLY hope it's Rei. She definetely deserves being the 5th Cure. These last few episodes did her very dirty. I would also be happy with Jett-senpai but making Rei a Cure would be an amazing surprise!

Tbh My only problem with the Cure Eclair arc is just like. Why tease it as this huge mystery if it was always gonna be the most obvious choice? (And if it builds itself up so poorly that nobody gets to actually solve it)
Like. Kurea being Eclair isn’t a mystery. It’s not a twist or sigh of relief or any kind of real surprise. She just is Eclair, there’s no way she could’ve not been. We all knew this. Even the kids watching probably knew it right off the bat. We just left the other possibilities open because we figured they had to be there for a reason- even if they weren’t wrong, they still had to do something or be convincing to any extent in a way we just hadn’t seen- but they weren’t
Exactly. This whole hype was for NOTHING. Kurea was always the most obvious choice. They wasted our time and energy by creating this unneccessary hype. A better plot twist would be using her as a red herring and making Eliza, Rei or Shiruku Eclair instead but ofc they had no intention of doing that. Instead we got another Ace wannabe I HATE THE REVEAL SO MUCH.
the other thing too with that fake ass kurea is a mystery isnt fun if the answer is obviously spelled out. its like someone asking you a question just for some other asshole to pop in and answer it for you like youre 4 again.
That's why Kurea was my least favorite Eclair candidate. I wanted her to be a red herring for being too obvious but unfortunately they wasted our time and energy by creating this hype with extra characters, then making her a Cure anyway. Like what was the POINT? If it was going to be this obvious they should have revealed her at the start like the other Cures.

I am disappointed too. Especially because all this hype was FOR NOTHING AND THE REVEAL WAS HORRIBLE. I felt like I was rewatching Cure Ace. I wish I hadn't gotten so attached to Rei and Shiruku, they will be sidelined for sure 😭
