From a distance I watch... Extroverted cosyness from last weekend.
Taking a long walk. Despite the drizzling rain. The smell of the wet meadows. The castles look more mysterious in the rain.
Did I mention that I LOVE the “milk station”? Bring your own bottles, throw in some coins, fill your bottles with fresh raw milk, take it home and enjoy... or enjoy it on your way home ;-)

treat yourself today
soak up some sunlight while staying inside
take care of your indoor garden
you may get the girl out of the countryside, but you won’t get the countryside out of the girl :P

tea, cookies and a book are my magic formula for the weekend
no need to see people.
enjoy some liquid sunlight and oats cookies with it.
just invite the faires for company.
make sourdough bread... rye or wheat, you decide.
spend the afternoon reading.

It is the season for hearty mushroom orzotto (pearl barley risotto). Dried mushroom are perfect in winter!
It is the season for baking cookies. Swedish gingerbread are easy to prepare and flood the home with scents of cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Make a huge amount of dough (2kg!!!) and freeze in smaller portions for spontaneous cookies & tea. They need only 5 minutes in the oven.
It is the season to admire winter’s beauty, even when the snow is still to come...

Introverted cozyness
A straw basket full of happiness.
Marking the end of summer.
Just perfect, never flawless.
Went foraging windfallen apples. The wasps and snails had their fair share. Now it’s my turn to make all the delicious puree, strudel & pudding.
introverted cozyness
it’s getting colder. treat yourself with a cup of tea and sweet swabian ‘flachswickel’ (translated ‘flax loop’... a yeast dough with butter and egg and little milk).
i re-discovered two lovely old recipe books from 1990 on my shelf. these handwritings and drawings! and this is the cuisine of my childhood. all wholemeal, eco, mostly vegetarian...
i love the recommendations of the second. if i could print them on every green-washed product that is sold as eco-friendly. in english it says “the supermarket is designed to to make us buy more than we need... we tend to believe, having more makes us happier - yet it makes us empty... make your groceries with a shopping list and stick to it.” it further says “buy from small shops not big chains...don’t buy from countries with cruel regimes or where the local population starves... don’t buy processed food and from industrial lifestock farming.” and further “save packaging... buy local and seasonal... grow own stuff.” today it’s more about buying yourself a green conscience instead of reducing unnecessary consumption.
magical elder tree.
went foraging to make elder jelly.
it tastes like end of summer.
a warm wind was shaking the trees in the gardens behind my house. distant hello of autumn. i don’t feel ready to say good-bye to summer. like it hasn’t really begun yet. not enough time for swimming outside. still i say good-bye today with a bowl of cherries and a fresh bottle of purple lavender vinegar.
secret recipe for glowing skin: 1 spoon of lavender vinegar + 100ml water. spray or dab on the face after washing.

My first knitted sock… for myself! For my babies I already made a lot. And my granny made a lot for me when I was little. She stopped knitting when she turned blind. So now it’s my turn.
These drawings came to my mind and hand recently. No 1 was in a very cuddly mood. Lucky her that No 2 was so relaxed. On that morning when we had to get ready for work and nursery. Sometimes half an hour in mama’s bed just isn’t enough in the morning. I made up for it. Even though carrying a 3yo in the carrying wrap feels like carrying a giant spider whose legs are just too long.
The most beautiful pearls
Lavender days, lavender thoughts, lavender vinegar
I discovered lavender vinegar for the kitchen... and for skin care (1 unit lavender vinegar, 5 units water --> excellent skin toner). In the kitchen lavender vinegar is a real alternative to balsamico vinegar. So flowery and intense.
The recipe is easy.
1l white wine vinegar
3 heaped table spoons of dried lavender blossoms (or 2 heaped table spoons of fresh lavender blossoms)
Boil the vinegar for 1 minute for a smoother taste.
When the vinegar has cooled down, fill into a bottle and add the lavender blossoms.
Filter after 2 or 3 weeks. After a few days the pale yellow vinegar has turned into a rich red colour. And after filtering the lavender vinegar has a purple pink colour.
Granny’s muesli bars
My granny always made sure we’re eating healthy. And muesli bars are a perfect alternative to sweets when having a sweet tooth.
4 ripe bananas
1/2 big coffee cup of sunflower seeds
1 big coffee cup of almonds or nuts
1/3 big coffee cup of flaxseeds
1 big coffee cup of quinoa or amaranth or millet popcorn
1 big coffee cup of oats
1 big coffee cup of wholemeal spelt flour
1 spoon of cocoa (optional)
3 spoons of agave syrup
2 spoons of tahina or melted peanut butter
Mix, smooth on a baking tray (1cm thick), bake for 20 minutes at 160°C, cool a little and cut into muesli bars. Perfect snack in the woods
