On one hand I’m so mad I just want to walk away from this show and pretend it never happened.

On the other, the cast is absolute perfection and they literally poured their hearts and souls into these characters and I want them to be able to play them again and have a script to do it right this time.

Again, spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned.

Idk if it’s just me, but, and it pains every last inch of my soul to say this, Inej didn’t feel like Inej this season.

The thing I always really appreciated about hers and Kaz’s relationship was that they understood each other bc they’d both been THROUGH IT. So on one hand, she was always understanding of his trauma bc she knew what it was like and was herself still dealing with a lot. On the other hand, she also had certain standards and expectations that she wasn’t just going to drop of Kaz wasn’t also making an effort, which is great.

BUT the whole „I will have you without armor“ scene happens in book 1. After Kaz called her an investment. After he let her scale an incinerator shaft in which she almost died. After he didn’t make enough of an effort to better himself for her, to at least try and get better.

She didn’t just say it bc he wasn’t getting well fast enough. She knows it doesn’t work that way. She said it bc he wasn’t getting better AT ALL, because he wasn’t even trying.

But in the show?? I’m sorry but show!Kaz is literally on his knees for her. He’s put everything on the line to buy her out, did the whole taking down Pekka Rollins thing to buy her out AGAIN, went to retrieve that blade to help Alina bc he knew how much it would mean to her (we all know that’s the real reason, right), tried to help her clean the wound, told her about his brother AND asked her to stay in Ketterdam with him.

For anyone else, that might not be much, but she SAW the way he panicked without his gloves. She saw how much effort it takes him to let anyone in. She saw that he’s actually trying.

And still, she drops that line and just.. leaves? Just like that? To me it almost kinda felt like „you’re not getting better fast enough for me and I’m not here for that“ and I HATE that, because it isn’t her.

Also, when Kaz told her about his plan to confront Pekka, he TOLD HER how important this was for him. He even said „It’ll be some comfort to know you’re somewhere in the shadows“. And she told him she wouldn’t miss it.

But SHE DID. And then, when he actually confronted her about it, SHE was mad.

I’m sorry.. what? Did it really take that long to save 3 women? Did they have to add that in at all?

The scene between Kaz and Pekka was one of the keypoints in the books. It was THE THING that everything Kaz had been working for for YEARS had been leading up to. THAT scene. That moment.

And Inej wasn’t there for it when she promised Kaz she would be. When she KNEW what this moment would mean to him.

Now hear me out: I KNOW it’s impossible for them to follow the books exactly. Which is fine. I’m sure they did their best.

But was it really necessary to rush everything to the point of some of the MOST IMPORTANT scenes of the book completely losing their impact?? Like Kaz taking down Pekka?? He did it so easily? So quickly?? What about brick by brick? And the fight scene with the dregs?? Where was the tension?? Where was the „umph“??

And, worst of all, the „bathroom scene“? I’m sorry but this is the one I can’t forgive. If this is supposed to be THE bathroom scene then they did us dirty.
