Union Covered Bridge
One of four remaining covered bridges in Missouri, Union Covered Bridge was built in 1871 and is the third oldest and third longest covered bridge in Missouri at 125 feet long and 17 1/2 feet wide. The bridge was built by Joseph C. Elliott for $5,000.
This bridge is also located near Paris, Missouri, and was a stop for us on our way home from Hannibal, Missouri in December 2024.

Pink Caretaker's Cottage in Walnut Grove Cemetery
On our drive to Hannibal, Missouri in late December 2024, this pink caretaker's cottage stood out against the gray skies and falling snow. On the way back from Hannibal, we decided to stop and take some photos.
The cemetery is Walnut Grove, located in a town named Paris in Monroe County, Missouri. This architectural design is Little Dixie Victorian, constructed around 1870. The pink color is definitely eye-catching, especially against the wintry background.
Nature brings serenity, peace of mind, and a calming energy. When I am out in nature, I feel very good, I believe it helps me slow down and look at things more closely, it helps me notice things around me, and I am not living in my mind so much, worrying about this or that. I am just in that present moment.
