ogh my gosh bg3 spoilers ahead
so i got some spoilers on the emperor around the start of act 2, so when my multiplayer campaign slowed to a halt, I decided to make an emperor simp character as my solo
it was really fun and hilarious to play, trusting the dream visitor 100%, romanticizing them, playin 'once upon a dream' in my head when the scary mindflayer man themself shows up
what I did not expect was how harrowing this would end up for my tav
I expected the emperor to be obviously evil or subversively good -- what I did not expect is what the game warned me the entire time -- that the emperor just...doesn't care about tav
Or at least, more optimistically, doesn't know how to have an actual relationship with another sapient being
I somehow managed to miss Raphael all through Act 3, realized his absence and so looked up where the heck he was right before confronting the elder brain, setting me up for one heck of a 1-2 punch
after telling raphael 'no dummy im gonna trust my squid boyfriend', i filled in the emperor with everything they missed, and they, instead of trusting tav, search through her memories to confirm that, oh, yeah, she was telling the truth.
The very next scene I triggered was 'hey, can we maybe not kill the poor imprisoned dissenter of a scary monarch?' met with the emperor's super messed up 'You still don't trust me?!' speech
they expect tav to trust them without offering the same trust in return????
and they called themself tav's knight in shining armor?! new headcanon, they pulled that line right out of simp tav's mind (even though datamine says they always say that -- shhhh)
rip emperor simp tav
may your ending not be as miserable as it looks like it's going to be
