Storytime: My grandmother on my Mom's side was a bit of a self-taught photographer. I'm sad that she missed out on the creation of IG because she would have amassed a huge following with her creative portraits and pictures of nature. (She was proud of her insistence to keep up with technology so she absolutely would have had an IG account along with twenty post-it notes on her wall explaining how to access it 😂). She loved travel and vintage advertisements of every day wares, Appalachian music, Groucho Marx mustache glasses, Toby mugs, Disney World, collections of all kinds, pot roasts, sewing and crafting, and most of all people. Little known fact these days, but my middle name is Diane. My mom loved her mother so much that she named her first daughter (me) after her. Today marks the 5 year anniversary of Gramgree's death and I'm pleased to note that after all this time, Siri still knows how to spell the name that she was to me. This gorgeous engagement ring was hers, and although I would have preferred to see it still sparkling on her finger, I am grateful to have it to remember her. Gramgree in particular was gifted in taking facial portraits with great lighting and strong bones. Gramgree, I hope I did you justice tonight, please know I'll love you always. #selfiesaturday #inmemoriam

When I first moved here to Ashland @karissejoy told me to get an Annihilator from DutchBros as their coffee was one of her favorite things about when she lived in Oregon. I bought said drink and it wasn't my thing at the time because I'm more of a plain Americano kind of gal and this drink is super sweet (macadamia nut and chocolate). I always hoped she would visit me here someday and we were going to drink lots of DutchBros together while I showed her around town, giggle while she tried the Lithia water, and maybe caught a play that would result in years worth of inside jokes that we would playfully inject into our social media interactions. However that is never to be and from this day forward I will never get to hear another drink recommendation from her lips nor countless other things that I'm just now coming to the realization of. The loss of my childhood friend who indirectly and directly affected so much of my life's trajectory is too much for me to think about right now so instead I bought an Annihilator.
