I wanted to introduce myself because I’m new here and lowkey wanted to start blogging. I’m going to post thoughts on life, how I’m feeling and in general (hopefully) relatable stuff. It’s kinda like my digital diary.

Okay, so here’s a long story, and I’d really appreciate your advice.
I’ve known this guy for as long as I can remember because our parents are best friends. Unfortunately, we live in different countries, about six hours apart, so we only got to see each other during the summer. Every year our families would visit one another, and we’d spend time together doing fun activities.
There are four people in his family: his mom, his dad, his older brother, and his younger brother (the one I’m talking about). When I was little, I had the biggest crush on the older brother. Yes I know, this is giving The Summer I Turned Pretty vibes.
Because of COVID, we didn’t see each other again until I was a teenager. Now we’re all grown up. The older brother is four years older than me, and the younger brother let’s call him Jake is almost two years older than me.
The last time I saw them was in April last year, and Jake was so sweet to me. He kept trying to start conversations, sat next to me whenever he could, and I even caught him looking at me a few times, almost as if he was waiting to see my reaction.
The thing is, I’ve always been really shy and introverted. Whenever he gave me attention, I would avoid eye contactnot because I didn’t like him, but because I was scared he’d notice that I liked him. I was honestly just trying to stay calm and not completely embarrass myself because, guys, he is so attractive. He’s tall, muscular, and has those ridiculously veiny hands and arms.
I genuinely can’t tell if he was just being friendly or if he might have been interested in me. The reason I wonder is because his older brother has always been pretty distant from me, while Jake has always been incredibly kind.
For example, one time they visited us, and Jake knocked on my bedroom door to ask if I wanted to play poker with him. He actually did that twice he was the one making the effort to come talk to me.
Then, in August last year, I finally followed both brothers on Instagram. Jake followed me back the very same day, while his older brother still hasn’t followed me back. I know that alone doesn’t mean anything, but it made me smile.
The craziest part is that we used to be best friends as little kids, and now I can’t stop thinking about him. I don’t even have his number, but somehow he’s been on my mind ever since. I honestly don’t know if I’m overthinking all of this or if there’s a chance he might have liked me too.
So what do you guys think? Was he just being friendly, or do you think there could have been something more? Am I reading too much into it?
