Y/N leaned against the doorframe, watching L's hunched shoulders slightly shake with his aggressive typing. He had been typing away for hours and excusing it as "work," which worried you due to his lack of sleep.
You pushed yourself off the doorframe, followed by the sound of your bare feet gently padding on the ground. L lifted his head slightly with a slight hum, silently acknowledging your presence without words.
You scanned the area. A plate of half-molding cake resting beside his hand, followed by the bowl of marshmallows and the cup of coffee which had been there for who knows how long. You sighed.
"Why don't you come to bed, hm? You've been awake for so long."
"I'm working," he responded flatly, his toes mindlessly twitching against the chair.
"Would it really hurt to take a break?" you huffed.
"Actually, it would," he mumbled. "Due to sleep inertia, if I were to sleep, it would drop my focus by 20% to 50% "
You huffed. Then suddenly an idea struck you !
"Want me to make you new coffee, my love?"
He hummed , his thumbnail finding its way to his mouth almost mindlessly , " hm . . that would be very nice, "
You nod and run to the kitchen, fixing his coffee at great speed. Before delivering it back to him, you managed to sneak one or two melatonin's into his drink and walked back to deliver it to him.
He mumbled something incoherent and sipped it. You stood to the side while he almost chugged it. He kept typing, but eventually, his eyes started getting slightly heavy.
You hummed with mock innocence. "What's wrong, my love?"
"I appear to be suddenly tired," he mumbled.
"Oh... well, I guess that means you're forced to go lie down with me! What a shame."
He stayed crouched and silent. Then he suddenly stood, and with a hunched posture, he carried himself to your shared bedroom and finally lay with you.
He wasn't stupid; he knew what you did and what you put in his drink. But maybe a small break would be okay for now. A small break in your arms—a quiet, sleepy break.
