A Grand Exposition of Canadian Steampunk grandeur, a festival of epic proportions, sights and sounds to entertain and delight… all this and more!

We welcome you to the Second Annual GCSE, once again filled with sights, sounds, and experiences that have to be seen to be believed. We’ll time travel to the world of a real, honest to goodness 19th century Fort George, where delights and pleasures abound – along with a multitude of surprises and experiences that you simply haven’t encountered anywhere before. What happens when you let a very large gaggle of Steampunks loose in a very large Fort full or soldiers, muskets, cannons, and so forth? The mind boggles.

Magnificent performers, inspiring panels and workshops, incomparable photo ops, fantastic vendors – all of this and so very much more awaits you at Fort George National Historic Site in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.

Pretend Spock is standing by your shoulder telling you it’s “illogical” or some shit. 

Getting invasive thoughts that everyone you know secretly hates you? Spock is there to be all “That is statistically improbable Captain, several of your friends have told you many times that they enjoy your company.” 

Paranoid that you’re going to get hit by a car every time you walk by a road? Spock is walking beside you, calmly explaining that “You are mostly like not going to be hit by a car. You’re walking on the sidewalk, and there are no cars in sight.” 

Is someone not messaging you back right away, and part of you is terrified that they’re dead in a ditch somewhere? Spock is there to be all “Captain, your friend is currently at work. They’re probably helping a customer, not dead.” 

Seriously, I spend a lot of time pretending that Spock is blandly telling me why all of my irrational, invasive, and paranoid thoughts probably aren’t true. 

“Spock, someone’s watching me.” 

“Captain, you are alone in your apartment. Everything is fine.”

1. Mad Max is the lead/franchise, but he doesn’t have many speaking lines. This is really Furiosa’s story that Max wanders into.

2. FURIOSA. She’s disabled and has some awesome prosthetics and no one comments on this or turns it into a “she succeeds in spite of her lack of limb” story. Literally she is the best.

3. SO MANY WOMEN. SO MANY SPEAKING ROLES FOR WOMEN.

4. The women literally declare “we are not things!”

5. They’re clearly escaping sex slavery but the movie doesn’t linger on that or sexualize the girls in light of that. All of the girls have different and unique reactions to their situation and it’s beautiful.

6. The movie also doesn’t make Max out to be the “oh you poor women escaping sex slavery let me take over your mission and take you to safety.” Nah bro. Furiosa leads this and lets everyone know who’s in charge.
