IDENTIFYING DATA AND REASON FOR INTIAL REFERRAL
Cha Yee Gyeon is a South Korean adult female born and raised in New Jersey, who was referred for a psychological evaluation to determine her current cognitive and emotional status under the authority of ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇.
Past reports from Long Branch High School show she has a capital understanding of basic subjects, but was released from formal education on 17/06/2014 due to a response made by the local Police Department of a breach of the High School's online systems, wherein it was later revealed test answers on the upcoming Summer examinations, 2014, had been taken by a secondary source and shared online, Cha Yee Gyeon, aged ▇ ▇▇▇, ▇▇ ▇▇▇.
SOURCES OF INFORMATION
Background information was obtained from her mother, father, previous psychologist Dr Daniel Ferguson, practising at the Union County Juvenile Detention Centre, and numerous psychological, educational and medical reports headed by ▇▇ ▇▇▇ during the length of their training program. The information was obtained from interview, developmental history and rating scales as well as medical records. This information appears to be from reliable sources and proved valid.
Current status of her learning and behaviour has been obtained from observation during testing and from standardised psychological, neuropsychological and achievement tests. The validity of her performance on most tests was deemed to be accurate due to her cooperation and motivation to perform the tests, though it can be speculated that words used in her initial interview, within her time with ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇, by ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ could have interfered considerably.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Cha Yee has struggled with proper social behaviour, as shown by previous reports and recent testing. Her relationships with both parents is tumultuous and emotionally stunted, due to their absence in her childhood and adolescence. The parents between them shared 4 occupations to generate income, both on rotating shift patterns for considerable amounts of hours during the day, and mostly saw Cha Yee into the care of relatives and friends. She is shown to have not reached a space of emotional availability and a sense of being able to adapt and form relationships properly.
Her educational ability seems to not have been affected by this, as shown by the motivation and hard work shown in more recent testings and through past school work, information provided by Long Branch High School, though recommendations to her status within the workplace will be considered with the above factors in mind.
In early interviews with Cha Yee it is clear she masks discomfort with light humour or prefers ignorance to the situation entirely, based on whomever she may be with. A person of interest in highlighting her progress is ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇ assigned partner and ▇▇▇▇. Their relationship is shown to exist on levels that previous test results showed Cha Yee was likely incapable to have the ability to reach effectively, though ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇'s presence within the space was limited during that time.

The most pressing concern at this time, that Cha Yee has a considerable history with abuse of illegal substances, see: ▇▇▇, ▇▇ and ▇▇▇. Such as, this should be taken into consideration when lining her for field action with other agents. Contributing factors to this seem to have been his home environment and engagement with notorious persons of interest to the N.J Police Department, within many of whom are deceased or serving considerable prison sentences without the possibility of parole.
Cha Yee's discovery by the agency rests in a number of closed witness files that are inaccessible and heavily redacted to protect her anonymity. SUMMARY OF PREVIOUS EVALUATIONS
A full evaluation of Cha Yee was conducted on 15/08/2018. It was noted she had dual dominance in use of her hands and rapid reaction times when asked to quickly type what words/equations/images where shown on the screen. Her fastest response was recorded within a time of 0.15 seconds. It was noted that her performance had improved from the previous year, not under the observation ▇▇▇ ▇▇, but was speculated to have been the cause of withdrawal within that year in particular. One of the terms for her employment was she would sever her addictions and work along psychologists provided in order to assist her recovery further.
There were no problems recorded with her visual motor, visual sequencing or data processing speed. She showed numerous capital abilities within problem solving and quick-thinking, though fell short on terms of leadership and domination of a situation. Cha Yee is capable of exercising genius-level intelligence though prefers to sideline herself; this has been confirmed in high school reports handed to the agency for evaluation, as most teachers presented notes that highlight an intelligent young woman without the capabilities or space to apply this.
(NOTE: That has yet to be improved. Follow-up assessments have since been inducted each year and her progress is measured in FILE NO.▇▇▇, for the previous year.)
During one of the evaluations she needed to pause and sit down, complaining that she was light-headed and was in need of a tissue, further proceeding have a lengthy nosebleed that was speculated to be the cause of frequent, past drug abuse. Medical records later confirmed the suspicion, as well as indicated tension between the eyes and sinuses, causing a build-up that later needed to be released. She advised that she was fine to continue the evaluation once the bleeding had stopped, however, and continued to be helpful and apologetic. Insomnia was raised as a topical concern and something to be focused on within medical consultation.
SUMMARY OF BEHAVIOURAL OBSERVATIONS
Cha Yee is an attractive young woman who easily opened herself up to interviewers and researchers and showed a good understanding of the reports and evaluations as a whole. She was evaluated quickly and was noted by several members of the evaluation’s staff to be most helpful and motivated during examinations and interviews and readily provided whatever information she could. She tended to play with her hair or thinning threads of her clothing when anxious, and when bored repeatedly tapped her fingers in a steady song-like rhythm on the table. She seemed unaware that he was doing this.
During evaluations she was shown to exhibit a concern with depression and anxiety, something that had earlier been speculated as a cause of her adolescence and lack of psychological help before she visited the Union County Juvenile Detention Centre.
Her responses on the testings resulted in a valid profile although she presented herself in a manner that attempted to project a favourable image. She appears to be “naïve” and immature with a strong need for attention and affection. She avoids responsibility tough she demonstrates that she has little insight into this tendency. Many symptoms of anxiety, tension, worries and sleep difficulties were reported. She may be too dependent for her age and relate to others in an immature fashion.
She is shown to be nonassertive and attempts to control others indirectly, rather than openly expressing her negative feelings. She likes to be around people and prefers to spend time with others rather than being alone, and she has difficulty with authority, yet fails to stand up for her non-basic needs.
CONCLUSION
During further evaluations there were no newly established concerns voiced, but it is thought wise to start her on a multistep program that ensures efficiency both in her work and in her behaviour in the hopes it can bring forth her more positive qualities and make her less dependent on affection and praise both inside and outside of the workplace, though she will require much structure and support, with continual monitoring. Some type of challenge program may give her needed confidence and resiliency to empower her to stand up for her own needs. She will be continuously re-evaluated in a space of randomly selected examinations as well as with the other agents, to monitor both her recovery and efficiency.

REGARDING CHA YEE AND HER AFFILIATIONS
W4SP, a six person, grey-hat group responsible for the leaked information of major corporations and government agencies worldwide. They are known for their extortion tactics, alongside a talent for evading law enforcement agencies aound the world. Information gathered from the seizure of computer technologies involved in the arrest of other Hacking Institutions shows that members of W4SP are based across the globe though have been mentioned to convene once a year in unnamed locations.
Codenames include CYPHER, TR4CE, ALIAS, PAYLOAD, LOVEPOET AND CROWBOY, PLAGUE AND PAPILLON - The latter a former alias of Cha Yee Gyeon, The Butterfly. It should be mentioned that she has held many aliases, in conjunction with different jobs/works she has performed. In information supplied after her arrest and prior to her employment under ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇, Cha Yee admitted to working closely with W4SP as PAPILLON and briefly took payments for operations completed in their name. It has been documented within interviews that although Cha Yee previously held contact with members of Seven Lodges, W4SP are not integrated into their assigned 'ClubHouse' of institutions. Cha Yee has shared that when W4SP were informed regarding her contact with Seven Lodges, they ceased communications with her. In the past, W4SP have released statements condemning the actions of Seven Lodges, and where information has been leaked and dangerous acts have been committed, they have vehemently protested any involvement. To this, Seven Lodges have been accused of framing one of W4SP's long-standing members for the murder of a high-ranking government figure, though this case is under investigation in Thailand and thus not accessible.
Seven Lodges - A black-hat group named as such due to their illustrious ClubHouse system they have installed across the seven continents. Nicknamed 'Lodges', the club system acts as a safe-haven for invited technological amateurs and long-standing affiliated professionals. Seven Lodges are known to hush victims/aligned hackers into silence by using their real lives against them, and are said to have installed numerous government operatives on the inside of top-priority security details, feeding information back to the Lodges for safe-keeping. Club USA - One of seven lodges across the globe, Club USA is currently under surveillance from reconnaissance teams and the technical staff are headed by Cha Yee Gyeon, as she previously held contact with members of Seven Lodges and currently they are unaware of her arrest or instalment as a government operative. Government documents read of a law enforcement raid of her rental property following the murder of ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ and her subsequent disappearance from online spaces. Cha Yee is currently reemerging into the online scene under former aliases. Club USA's layout is a three-tier floor system, in the centre accessible by a large spiral staircase that to the entrance of each floor is gated, lock and key and passcode. There are large indoor balconies that allow visitors to see the nightclub below, and allow for small visual peeks into the goings-on of the upper tiers, for those remaining below. The upper tiers are haunted by a faint glow of many computer screens. The floors themselves house multiple computer systems, alongside rooms available for those staying for longer periods of time and a bar, with the lowest floor acting as a front, an illustrious nightclub that is accessible to the general public, though the upper floors are accessible only for those on the guest-list, and for frequent visitors, a key-card. Activities taking place on the upper floors include ranges of petty theft and information distribution, to the selling of black market items, weapons and dark-web livestreams on the top tier. Members of tier three are known to invite online bids from worldwide players, on which of the attendants of the nightclub will "Survive The Night", usually meaning that in some capacity, someone will die of either natural or hands-on causes.
"Operation Loft" is the codename awarded to the takedown of Seven Lodges, a government-funded operation enlisting the help of several reformed criminals and their professional handlers. Most notably critisised within government internal documentation for its "out of the box" approach to work ethics, pairing said reformed offenders with previously installed government agents from varying departments. They work in a pair system with regular monitoring and physical, psychological consultation and share close quarters, usually working both sides of internal and field work. Cha Yee and her partner, ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇, head the communications between departments and are known as A-Class projections of how the agency wished for the program to work. Cha Yee takes charge of technical investigations and ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇ is prepped mostly for field-work within their background, the two communicating using ear-pieces and text relay systems for ease and secrecy when operations are live. Due to their strong partnership, they have internally been dubbed "The Glitch (in your system) and The Knife (to your back)".
It should be known that under Operation Loft, Cha Yee Gyeon is known under the alias, Charlie Jackson. This is to protect her from informational leaks to Seven Lodges, should there be a mole in their system, and serves to protect her anonymity from law enforcement as they have recently reopened the case into the murder of her ex-partner and the criminal organisation they served.

chainsaw man character notes. disclaimer, as a general rule i don't age-up characters in their canon (unless exploring beyond their canon), so where applicable some characters in this setting are minors. two notable characters in this list are denji and reze. denji begins his main journey at sixteen, and in the current timeline within the manga he is now eighteen. reze, though she is a devil-hybrid and thus her chronological age may be different, is speculated to be, and it is implied she is around denji's age, in her late teens. denji explores a number of "romantic" relationships in his story and is known to be crude and thinks little before he speaks. i will not dial this down, as it is a key element of his character where applicable. chainsaw man touches on a number of difficult topics, inclusive of but not limited to abuse (sexual, emotional, physical), manipulation, suicide and self harm, intense gore and some sexually mature content. when interacting with these characters it's at your own discretion. spoiler warnings ahead !!!!
this post was mainly drafted as i have certain add-ons or divergencies i wanted to include, as well as some background to the characters i've chosen to showcase! as said above, their stories range in terms of triggering themes, and people should always research but i wanted to make my own guide purely for the sake of my mutuals. as a note, chainsaw man is set in the late 1990s, though this can be changed to fit a more "modern" verse.
▍ the public safety devil hunters, otherwise known as the national devil extermination public safety commission, is an organisational branch of government devoted to the capture and/or extermination of devils and the safety of the public. their status and regard is similar to that of a fire house or police station. those employed are named devil hunters (though there are private and civilian devil hunters that are unaffiliated with public safety), and they are able to make contracts with captured devils in order to gain powers and abilities, offering more strength in the deaths of devils that cause harm. they wear formal clothing, notably a suit and a tie, though the blazer is sometimes foregone and additions of personal style have been added by some members. devil hunters are noticeable not only through their uniform, but of the scars they carry, as many of them are heavily scarred and missing limbs, either from battle or from making a contract from a devil which has stipulated that the limb is the prize of the contract.
denji, the chainsaw devil, lord chainsaw, chainsaw man.
denji is the main protagonist of this story, a boy in his late teens fused with his beloved companion pochita, who is actually the chainsaw devil, weakened after a battle with the four horsemen and weapons devils. the chainsaw devil is so powerful because it is feared by other devils, as the chainsaw devil possesses the ability that, should he eat them, they will be wiped into non-existence within their concepts, and will simply cease to be (for example, if the chainsaw devil was to eat the leech devil, the concept of its fear would cease to exist, thus the devil itself would be no more).
before denji's story within the manga takes place, at a young age he killed his abusive, alcoholic father (though a repressed memory) and inherited the debts he had accrued with the yakuza. he was malnourished to the point that he ate from trash bins and would eat toilet paper just to fill his stomach, and he frequently vomited blood due to a heart disease he inherited from his mother.
when we meet denji in the first chapters, he lives in a run-down shack and he is missing his right eye, a testicle, and a kidney after selling them to the black market in an effort to pay his debts. prior to these chapters, denji had found an injured pochita lurking near his father's grave, and formed a contract with him after feeding the devil his own blood. pochita, a creature resembling a "dog" with a chainsaw protruding out of its head, became denji's first pet, friend and partner, the two going on to execute devils for the payout, that denji could then give to the yakuza to pay his debts.
in spite of, or be it because of his harsh beginnings, denji has simple dreams. to eat well, to be clean and warm, and to hug (and more. he's a teenage boy) a girl. he also wants to keep a job, so that he can continue to have these things.
after being ambushed by the zombie devil, and close to death, pochita urges denji to fulfil his dreams even in their absence, and fuses themself with denji to resurrect him. thus begins the story of chainsaw man when he meets makima, head of public safety and who would become his ultimate downfall.
it should be noted that denji's story surrounds many difficult and triggering themes, such as abuse --- mental, physical and sexual. he is an abuse survivor and this is seen in almost all arcs currently having been explored within chainsaw man's main story. denji is easy to manipulate due to his wishes for simplicity. he only wants good food, a job and a place to sleep, and friends (+ a girlfriend). this means that giving him conditional tasks, balancing those listed above as rewards for their completion, is easy and denji will always take them, because he doesn't want to lose what he has or risk disappointing those he looks up to.
denji is shown to question his own morality in the face of his empathy towards others, and questions if with his heart, pochita took away his ability to feel sad, both for himself and for others. this isn't true, as denji regularly grapples with feeling some disconnected empathy for others, but just as he prefers to repress his own hardships, he downplays other's or simply advises that he doesn't know what to say, or doesn't want to talk about it anymore.
although denji is shown to be naive, he is not stupid. though his literacy is limited due to his initial lack of formal education, he is street smart and incredibly resourceful, able to make the best out of a bad situation and still, despite it all holding himself in high regard. he cares little for the wants of others and is often controlled by his want for companionship and a deep "respect" for women, shown making a deal with power that if he saved her cat, she'll let him touch her breast. makima offers him deals in conjunction with this nature, though of the "tamer sort", offering him whatever he wants from her in favours and exploiting his "crush" on her by initiating close physical contact with him. of many things, makima is shown to be his main abuser in the arcs of part one of chainsaw man, and his relationship with her is not something i will be exploring or reflecting on in threads/introspections at all positively.
with regards to denji's own "positive feelings" towards her that may crop in threads, and they will because he talks about her and thinks about her a lot, please do not consider this a reflection of how i think their interactions are viewed.
denji's relationship with makima, to me, is more reflective of an invasive and abusive parent that makes you question their worth to them if you cannot perform tasks to their inferred liking. denji frequently worries what makima thinks of him, as shown in the first arc and bomb devil arc, wherein two other female characters have made advances (and in arc1, this is not something i tolerate or will debate on. himeno's actions are deplorable with or without the alcoholism involved and it is shown to have a negative effect on denji) and denji was sick with worry that their advances would change how makima perceived him, and the kindness she would offer him if she found out, or did not like it.
in later arcs and chapters denji is sexually abused by yoru, in asa's body. this also makes asa a victim, which i think is easily inferred unless you're stupid! asa and denji however have a somewhat trusting and good relationship, and despite all that happens to him, denji still trusts in people though he begins to reflect that he shouldn't. as when faced with yoru, he absently speaks to pochita and advises that he knows this isn't going to go in his favour, and when the betrayal is later identified, he says, "what did i say, pochita?"
in spite of everything, denji is still kind and forgiving, as he forgave himeno for her actions as he forgave asa for the actions of yoru. though this can be inferred to be less forgiveness and more an act of repression, which i highly regard it as, as these are not things denji wants to confront but would rather forget about so that he can continue to live his desired "humble" life, which means that he ignores a great many challenges he has faced in order to do so, that later do flare and cause spirals of misjudgement and despair for him. denji still tries to connect with people on levels most people would find disturbing, connecting with asa because of their shared "parent-killing" arcs in their lives.
denji is funny, bad-mouthed and dirty-minded. he has a deep need for companionship and will do almost anything to maintain it. he is opinionated and loud, but has good cleaning habits.
denji later comes to believe that he is incapable of living a good life because he "thinks with his dick" (he's hyper-sexual, due to a lack of properly formed affectionate relationships and trauma) and spends his time thinking only about himself and his own feelings rather than those of others. denji's simple dreams and his promise to pochita pose a great threat to his own safety, as when he is put in situations in which those simple dreams cannot come to be, pochita will emerge and fight on denji's behalf and erase the obstacles causing his unhappiness (note: pochita/the chainsaw devil emerges when denji has lost the will to live). denji believes that if he cannot save people and cannot keep a family unit, his life is useless, however as a contradiction he says he will keep finding himself a family [unit] even if they all keep dying, as he will keep moving forward no matter what. he believes being chainsaw man and being a "hero" will get him a girlfriend (or many of them) and will make him well-liked. when told not to transform into chainsaw man, denji is continuously conflicted at what he should and should not do, even when the lives of his loved ones are threatened.
he loves his friends, though even through his need for closeness and companionships struggles to maintain healthy relationships with himself and others. he lets girls pay to sit on him in his arc of formal education. he likes movies and comics and penguins, and generally likes messing around. he's a contradiction in terms of his approach to superiority, but takes orders well when its required of him. rather than talk about his hardships, he prefers not to think about them and frequently represses hard or triggering memories. ie. himeno's advances, the murder of his father, the deaths of aki, power and nayuta, (possibly later) yoshida and other fallen comrades.
▍ where can you find him? in his earlier youth you can find denji making up his father's debts to the yakuza, working as a civilian devil hunter for the payout. from sixteen you find him working with public safety as chainsaw man, hunted by devils and organisations across the globe even once he's resigned and started formal education at seventeen/eighteen, he can be found trying to stop nostradamus' prophecy from becoming true, battling yoru and aligning with certain devils to help him in his journey.
reze, the bomb devil.
reze is a devil-hybrid, fused with the bomb devil as per military-designated experimentations. one of the first divergencies made is that as reze is named a soviet soldier in the source content, i have removed this element and simply have her as a member of an undefined military organisation, and her origins as discussed in her arc, "the room full of children, taken for experiments until they succeeded or died." within my personal divergency the location is left vague, and this is simply a horrifying whisper of a story that echoes across the globe, of militant organisations trying to produce their own devil-hybrids. a tale to keep children indoors at night and out of the clutches of the devils that roam, or those that would turn them into such with no regard for their lives.
with further divergencies wherein reze appears post control devil arc, this is obviously no longer her affiliation and i have reworked this to reflect that as a free-agent no longer under makima's control, she is free to do as she pleases. as such she does not appear in the source content in the current arcs, post control devil arc. this can be explored, however, as reze becoming a member of the chainsaw church --- though it is unlikely, as the goal of many weapons devils and the four horsemen is to exterminate the chainsaw devil to ensure their lives continue uninterrupted and they are not eaten to non-existence as concepts.
i think it's important to note that her themes surround kidnapping and abuse, indoctrination into wartime efforts and likely brainwashing. i classify her as [her body] being around denji's similar age, if not a year older than himself, though her chronological age is unknown, as a devil-hybrid it is uncertain how old she may truly be.
as the bomb devil, reze is regarded highly, called lady bomb by lesser devils. she is extremely powerful and is able to manifest devastation level explosions from the palm of her hand and her other extremeties. she is skilled in both close-range and long-distance combat, making her an extremely difficult enemy to overcome. within her indoctrination and her skills as a soldier, she is incredibly quick-thinking and focused, and can switch her tactics with little to no thought required, based on her chances of victory versus loss.
her abilties have their downfalls, as when transforming reze pulls a grenade pin from her neck, which is usually hidden by a thick black choker, and she explodes into the manifestation of the bomb devil. as this happens, she can feel the heat and spark of fire igniting and forcing her apart only to rebuild her again, her skin splitting and transforming, and it is a truly painful experience, though one she has become accustomed to. she transforms many times and like most devils, needs blood to sustain these transformations. her regenerative capabilities rival that of the chainsaw devil, though as someone highly skilled and trained, she does this much faster and with a certain finesse.
it should be noted that the bomb devil has fought the chainsaw devil once before, leading to its manifestation as a weakened version of itself, pochita. whether this was within reze's body is unknown, is something i would like to explore.
she is witty, however, and uses her girlish-charm to confuse her enemies, seen shouting for help against devil attacks --- when in fact she is the devil attack. though she was recognised from an image by one of public safety's own devil hunters, of those very rooms she was kept within in before her transformation.
it's put plainly in black and white that she is intelligent and manipulative, and that the majority of her time with denji was performative and based on the need to get him alone, away from public safety, where she could extract what organisations around the globe are after: chainsaw's heart. i do think that a portion of her feelings were perhaps real, especially towards the end of her arc when she is seen coming to him at the café. i think his kindness, as something she had never been offered and his plain and humble dreams of a simple life, intrigued her as someone who seemingly, if she thought about it, had no ideals other than those that been instilled within her through harsh training for the cause she served.
it should also be noted that the true name for a devil-hybrid does not exist, as the chainsaw devil ate and eradicated their concept. but they are not devils, and they are not fiends, and they possibly aren't even supposed to be named hybrids, but as this is all that exists for them, it is so.
▍ where can you find her? you can find reze on missions across the globe before her placement in japan to capture the heart of chainsaw man. an operative under military control and a powerful member of the weapons devils, she is highly regarded and incredibly skilled, and works on insurgence missions. post control devil arc, she may be found in the other arcs working to protect him from other devils after forming a friendship with him, or maybe her goals are the same, and much like the other weapons devils and four horsemen, she is once again working to use or destroy him. or, she may even simply be a free agent, with the ability to make her own choices for how her life is lived.
angel, the angel devil.
angel is quite literally what it says on the tin. the concept of angels and the fear of them, making them part devil and part angel. angel is lazy, considers dying an easier feat than working, and tends to prefer sidelining himself rather than getting involved in any serious form of battle.
as an angel, the angel devil is actually the weakest manifestation, with seraphim, virtue and dominion ranking high above him in the hierarchy. angel's looks are akin to depictions of lucifer in certain artworks, likely a nod to the fear people have of the "fallen angel" yet still considering him rather beautiful. angel is androgynous and sometimes mistaken for someone more feminine, as referenced in denji's mind when he briefly considered angel as someone he found attracted and could form a relationship with, then dismissed because he remembered angel is actually not a woman.
angel is a notably dangerous member of public safety (special division four) as a single touch will siphon the lifespan of the person he is touching, and these stolen lifespans will go on to make weapons angel and others can wield, some with special abilities --- like hayakawa aki's sword, which can cut through ghosts.
he dislikes order and superiority, will eat anything (including zombie flesh) and tends to reject empathy. though, at times angel can be seen apologising to those he siphons the life from, either putting them out of their misery in order to use them, or simply not to let them suffer anymore. he finds this akin to being part angel, not that he genuinely feel any remorse for the action.
due to his physical ability, angel is isolated and not commonly seen amongst friends or fellow devil hunters as he is considered highly dangerous and people don't like getting too close to him. this is also further demonstrated by aki's severe hatred of devils, which obviously will be seen throughout other members of public safety. it's rather lucky that he's lazy, as if he wanted to, it is likely he could decimate large numbers of humans using the weapons created from the lifespans of others.
angel also uses his ability to create weapons from the lifespans of others. the correlation of years used implies the strength of the weapon, with certain weapons being named purely after the number of years used to create it. angel is known to be a skilled spear and sword user, having used a sword to dispatch of enemies, and using a spear to accurately pierce and immobilise reze at the end of her arc. these weapons are manifested and pulled through his halo, and take a great deal of strength and focus to create, willing each to serve a purpose and instilling abilities, where applicable.
angel was once part a peaceful seaside village of humans that accepted him, despite his birth as a devil. he fell in love with a woman on the island and lived a simple life until makima appeared and forced him to demonstrate his abilities, killing everyone on the island by absorbing their lifespans. before employing him into public safety, she suppressed his memories and guilt related to the event and put him to work. this is likely the reason he does not like working and will do everything to avoid it, and why he separates himself from others, suppressed memories of his grief forcing him apart from connections and a willingness to work.
in my own personal introspections and divergencies, i believe angel has the poorest living conditions. he possesses only the necessities and does not own a tv, and rarely reads books due to the effort it takes to focus. he is not allowed to make unsanctioned contracts, and doing so could mean death for both himself and the person being offered said contract, if he was to do so.
another is that in a world where post control devil arc he survives being under makima's control, with her rebirth into another form angel is able to gain more control of their physical ability, possibly leading to him being able to touch others. i believe in some circumstances this may have been one of makima's plays to isolate and corner angel, keeping him tethered to her as people would avoid coming into contact with him, until aki, who angel regards as the first person he was able to form a connection with, and someone who although he knows about his short lifespan, feels some grief over taking more, and wants --- tries to keep him from taking makima's deal at the height of the gun devil arc.
angel is apathetic and does not connect easily with others. he is dismissive to subjects which require empathy and connection and prefers not talking. other people are also loud and take up space, though there are some he likes the presence of. he will find any excuse not to work and treasures sweet things, namely ice-cream. as good a reward as any for completing a task, or a good bargaining chip if you want him to do something for you.
another headcanon is that angel is permitted (or more so ordered) to visit the bedsides of dying people and offer to take what is left of their lifespans, further adding more to their own arsenal and doing what is seen as a "kindness" for others, offering them a painless death. however, as referenced in the source content the faces, goals and memories of those angel has taken from haunt him in his dreams, relentlessly. like watching film from a camera you didn't own in a dark and desolate theatre, on repeat with no way to stop it, until he wakes up. likely another reason he isolates himself.
▍ where can you find him? before his employment with public safety, you can find him on a seaside island surrounded by those who love and accept him, despite his nature as a devil. post employment, you can find him working for public safety, isolated from most due to the nature of his abilities and his dislike for making any effort in both communication and work. post control devil arc, he may have found more control over his abilities and is working to explore what this means for physical touch and his isolation may be lessened with his regained memories of how he loved, before. likely, if he has survived the control devil arc angel is likely still employed by public safety and works to protect denji from those who mean him harm and can be found reworked into the later arcs.
makima, (later nayuta) the control devil, conquest of the four horsemen.
as a note, makima's character is heavily criticised (rightfully so) and yet so badly misunderstood. i do feel her character is appreciated more when you take away whatever need you might have for her to be redeemable. as a character she is insanely op at times, which is something i don't dial down for any character! though she does die, so that's something..........and then she comes back.
the four horsemen of the apocalypse exist as a concept of fear within chainsaw man. death, famine, war and conquest. within john's revelation conquest is the first rider of the apocalypse, riding a white horse and given a crown and bow. later the term conquest was turned to pestilence instead, however that matters little here. makima is the control devil, the embodiment of conquest and for part one of chainsaw man, the head of the public safety devil hunters and division five.
▍ makima's japanese devil name, shihai (支配), uses the same kanji as the japanese translation for the first of the four horsemen of the apocalypse in christian mythology. in japanese, shihai is an umbrella term for several similar concepts relating to control, conquest, rulership and domination, etc.
in her past and before her instalment into public safety (though it hasn't been confirmed, but comments made by kishibe in part two allude to this) makima was controlled and groomed by the japanese government. she has a contract with them that gives her power and control over the devil hunters, and has less control over government officials that are higher ranking. having been raised by the japanese government, she was taught to "love" and care for the people of japan and to hold their best interests in mind, which she uses an as an excuse for what she later goes on to do. later, she alludes to this when revealing her plans to denji, explaining she only wants a better world for the people she has been designed to protect. under the control of the japanese government, she is also being used in efforts to defeat the gun devil, which is controlled by the american government.
although she is a devil, she resembles a human woman in her mid to late twenties and has long, auburn hair that she usually keeps tied in a loose braid behind her back. her eyes, that are red with yellow circles swirling within them, are the only hint to her inhuman nature.
on the surface she seems kind and understanding, gentle and a social woman who is often smiling. she is cool and calm during crisis and usually level-headed, the first to provide solutions to problems and ordering her subordinates with ease. at the beginning of chainsaw man part one, makima finds denji after his fusing with pochita and "rescues" him, giving him her coat and feeding him noodles all the while posing the idea that he should come and work for her, threatening his life through smiles and kind words. denji agrees to become her dog on the basis that he quickly forms a crush on her and wants to be close to her, as she is also the first person to have embraced him in a long time.
as the story progresses however, her true nature is revealed. makima is not human, and makes that known. she is a cunning and manipulative being not interested in the lives of those beneath her unless they serve her greater divine purpose. she controls denji through promises of romance and sexual natures, while in the same breath threatening his imminent demise if he cannot obey and please her. she is ruthless and will do whatever it takes to achieve her goals, even at the cost of the lives of those she swore to protect.
makima has awaited the return of the chainsaw devil to enact her ultimate plan, to erase concepts like war, death and hunger so that humans can live in a fairer world without fear. however, this is also not her true motive. as the control devil, the admiration people hold for her is based on fear, as are the majority of her relationships.
she is not a morally good character under any circumstances, but parades as though she is because this is how she was raised by the government to view herself. and even then, it's still barely. makima is very open about her intentions but the true motives/lengths she will go to are hidden as per her conversation with kishibe. she wasn't lying, but she was omitting part of the truth.
the revelation of her true goal as per pochita's explanation to denji: “the control devil ... she always wanted to form equal relationships with others. she could only form relationships through the power of fear. so she always longed for something like a family. that's the kind of world she wanted to create, even if she went about it the wrong way.” when she first met denji, she embraced him tightly, as she had finally once again found the chainsaw devil and in this form, she could again form her ideal plan. within the bomb devil arc, she also places her head on denji's chest to listen to his heart, the chainsaw devil's heart. there is also the idea that she's jealous of denji and the chainsaw devil for the relationship they cultivated, as it's one she cannot have with anyone, even her own "siblings", the other horsemen.
her plan is: that by by using denji to erase concepts like hunger, fear and death, she would be able to gain more control over the world and eventually come to form the kind of relationships she longed for. a lot of people think her tears in the movie theatre were a ploy to make denji feel safe and understood, but the film she finally sheds a tear at, the scene is a caring relationship between two people who come to embrace, and something she longs for. she's not crying because she feels it, she's crying because she wants it, and in perhaps in showing denji that particular movie (amongst the others) she wanted to know if he understood her. the fact that denji also cried (for unknown reasons to himself, but likely for the same reasons makima had cried, in his longing for close relationships) showed her that on some level, he did, and he would possibly understand the way things would later come to be.
towards the end of her arc as a character, makima reveals her true intentions to denji and criticises him for his way of living, even going as far to announce that she feels he is not fit to house her idol, the chainsaw devil, as he is foul-mouthed and naive and is ruining his reputation as a fearsome devil capable of fear-erasure. she admits that she loves the chainsaw devil and wants to be with him. she reveals that she installed aki and power as a family unit for denji, stating that aki became a good big brother to you, and power, the younger bratty sister. admitting that she would continue to forge those relationships for denji and rip them away when he felt any shred of happiness to fulfil her goals and bring back the chainsaw devil and live a happy life with him, as the only other being that might possibly understand and love her.
some interesting character notes regarding makima is that she cannot remember faces, and knows who people are solely based on their recognisable scents. she possesses all of the standard devil abilities, including the ability to make contracts with humans --- however, due to her power as the control devil, she can also force humans to make contracts with her, one notable contract being the one forged with aki, whom she turned into the gun fiend and ordered him to exterminate the chainsaw devil. another notable contract is the one held with the japanese prime minister, wherein any fatal attacks inflicted on her are transferred to an appropriate accident of illness on a random japanese citizen. makima has been "killed" twenty-six times by her reveal as the control devil.
she possesses immense strength and enhanced smell, and as her instalment as a primal fear devil she is incredibly powerful in her base nature as the devil of control. she can channel the power of her victims by summoning them through chains connected to her bodies, she can borrow the hearings of rats and crows and other small animals which she uses to hear conversations anywhere on the planet and seemingly extending into hell. she uses force manipulation to weaken or injure her enemies simply by staring at them. she possesses the ability to crush targets by an invisible force over long distances (to use this, it requires a high-altitude location such as a shrine, the name of the target and a human sacrifice. she forms a symbol with her hands and instructs the human sacrifice to speak the name of the target, the sacrifice then dies and the target is crushed by an invisible force). she can inflict damage by pointing her index finger and speaking the word bang.
when some of these abilities are used, public safety devil hunters are required to cover their eyes with a black cloth, as they are not allowed to know which "devil contracts" she holds.
she is practically un-killable, however denji found a way to bypass her nature as a devil and the contracts she had made by killing her to end her suffering. as although makima admitted to never memorising denji's scent and only truly seeing him as a vessel for the chainsaw devil, denji still cared for her. after defeating her, he then cooked her body into several different meals, which didn't count as an attack on her person because denji viewed it as an act of love. after her death, makima was reincarnated in hell and then reincarnated in china as nayuta due to the reincarnation abilities of devils.
as nayuta, she is reborn as a child. kishibe heard rumours of her in china and collected her, bringing her back to japan and placing her in denji's care, fearing that should the government get hold of her the same situation as previous would occur.
denji becomes to nayuta what aki was to him, an older brother and someone who protects and cares for her. after resigning from public safety he goes to school and attempts to make money to feed nayuta as he isn't allowed a job.
nayuta is still the control devil and exercises this power over people like asa (+yoru) by erasing their memories when yoru kissed denji and by forcing denji "not to see her again", which actually proved pretty impossible. nayuta is bratty and self-important, but she is still a child and is still learning. she attends a junior school and makes friends but cares little for them. she does not possess memories of her former life as makima, and many try to keep it that way. she cares for her dogs and for meowy and loves denji, which is also likely a side-effect of her presence as the control devil and some lingering feelings towards him from her previous life(ves).
ultimately nayuta is used as a pawn by both current and defected members of public safety, and is allowed to be ripped apart by an angry mob by one of fumiko mifune's body doubles, who runs away and advises her job is not to save nayuta at the cost of her own life, as she has more important things to do (like dying at the hands of the aging devil, and offering yoshida her heart in contract). her death serves at yet another trigger to bring forth the chainsaw devil, as upon the reveal of her murder and the likelihood that denji has been fed parts of her, denji once again loses the will to live and so cannot fulfil his dreams and promises he made in contract to pochita.
▍ where can you find her? as makima, you can find her in japan heading public safety, and putting in place her plan to bring forth the chainsaw devil by any means necessary. she is usually found in her offices or in the field, usually accompanied by a limited number of devil hunters and devils under contract to her and public safety. as nayuta, she can be found at the apartment she shares with denji, at school, and in the event that she survives past the current arc, back at denji's side. nayuta has also come into contact with her two older sisters, war and death, though little came of their interventions aside from memories restored.

note, *it is not said that eshu changes flesh or faces, but for the purpose of this character and the world built around them, orisha do change either by choice or by force as time passes. in this story, orisha may change their flesh in order to be stronger, ie. the youth of a soul giving power and vitality in place of the mass of worship they would have once had pre-introduction of islam and christianity in southern nigeria.

eshu, trickster god, or orisha of the nigerian yoruba — the protective and benevolent spirit that serves ifa, the chief god, as a messenger between heaven and earth. eshu changes flesh* and requires constant appeasement within their work, in order to carry out their functions of conveying sacrifices and divining the future. of the myths, one depicts eshu as tricking ifa out of their secrets of divination, whilst another places eshu as the rescuer, ending ifa's imprisonment within a palm tree and erects them as the god of the ifa teachings.
like many tricksters, within the religion eshu stands to represent free will in humanity and that beyond. further representing chaos and uncertainty, they do bad things simply for the sake of doing so and yet, they help those that respect/worship them. of the orisha, eshu is the only one who does not adhere to authority, however the other orisha owe them respect. akin to norse mythology, as the god of thunder walks alongside his brother loki, sàngó (orisha of lightning, fire, justice and virility) walks alongside eshu (orisha of trickery, chaos, messengers and death) when traveling. eshu is first to eat in all the first ceremonies and at the beginning of creation, it was eshu that told the creator that although the light rose, its shadow would haunt all of creation.
to this, eshu forged the pact to do whatever he pleases in all facets of creation, and though they represent chaos and trickery, they are responsible for promoting peace and harmony. under the scopes of other religions, eshu is seen as a devil, or the devil themself — evangelists compare them as such because eshu beholds a horn or crest atop their head, alongside their potential to cause harm within the kingdom.
further to this, with the arrival of christian missionaries in yorubaland, eshu was named as the figure of satan under their eye. in african diasporic religions, eshu became elegba — papa legba. the significance of crossroads throughout the diaspora is also tied to eshu.
however, some other religions naming eshu as satan/the devil fail to acknowledge that eshu helps their people, and is the only orisha who punishes without hesitation when a pact is broken. for all of the wrong they could do, eshu loves the people they serve and are served by.
the promised flesh, before.
adémọ́lá (known as adé) is a second-generation migrant living in london, england. born to parents ifeanyichukwu mfoniso onyema (father) and adankwo uguolo onyema (nee adesina) (mother) who moved from nigeria to the united kingdom for ifeanyichukwu to head the installed yoruba place of worship in peckham, already a prominent babalawo "father of secrets" within their community and leaving his brother to head their community as they migrated.
an only child, and with this comes the simple traits of mild selfishness, thoughtlessness and the primary inability to put others before himself, something that as eshu he has to unlearn.
both families (mother and father) hold deep ancestral ties to yoruba worship, having practiced even with the emergence of islam and christianity in southern nigeria, and continuing to practice even with the instalment of other religious places of worship and teachings within communities.
within this lore, orisha choose a favoured bloodline in which to pass their being into. the onyema descendants have been in line to receive this blessing for centuries, though eshu had chosen for some time not to shed their previous skin, before adé.
although born into a family of heavy religious worship, from childhood to early adulthood adé had little interest, instead choosing not to attend services to spend time with friends, romantic interests. having a prominent interest in the society growing around him, the difference in culture and schooling. a lover of music and art, adé is an artist though choosing not to share his talent with many as he preferred to play sports such as football and rugby in his youth and into adulthood.
appearance.
his hair is naturally textured, with occasional shaping and tapering to keep its lines and cleanliness.
eyes are brown, lighter and iridescent as eshu, colour flickering through them as he communicates with gods and spirits, though the colours are muted.
slim build but well toned and defined from his years playing sports, and time spent in the gym. likes morning runs in the summer and evening runs in the winter.
dress style is mostly casual, though later as eshu this style becomes more defined and elegant, especially when within his own realm or choosing to meet with other orisha, other mythological or higher beings/creatures from othering mythology/folklore/religion.
pierced ears, adorned with small gold hoops that hug tightly the lobes of his ears. often not seen without his gold rings, on his right hand a gold ring on his index finger and on his left, on his little finger. a small golden chain around his neck, given to him by his mother when he turned eighteen, owned previously by her grandfather but worn by adankwo until it was time to gift to adé.
as eshu, it is commonly referenced that eshu has two faces, or two differing halves of their whole face, indicating both trickery and watchfulness as referenced in the above notes. masculinity and femininity are present in either half and within this lore, it is noted that eshu is comfortable presenting as either gender.
eshu's items include a set of keys, symbolic of their ability to open doors to pathways and crossroads. a garabato, this is depicted as a staff or stick, often decorated with beads and other symbolic items, ican be used in rituals and is often depicted with them at a crossroads. cowrie shells (for dilogun), that are essential for divination, to interpret messages from other deities and spirits as well as eshu themself.
becoming eshu, the fall of gods.
within this lore and taking inspiration from american gods, the orisha face a weakening of their power due to a lessening of worship in their faith, since the emergence of other religions in yorubaland. of the orisha there are said to be 400 + 1, the sacred number. within this lore some of the orisha have faded into non-existence due to the weakening of worship, their offerings sparse and not enough to maintain godhood.
those that remain are diminished in their previous standings, eshu remains strong due to their adaptations to other diasporic religions and myths, legends that keep them alive and able to complete their duties. whispers of papa legba at the crossroads, alongside their traditional worship.
with the fall of some gods, their offerings and items of worship have been scattered across the globe due to theft from other orisha, other creatures and beings from other mythologies and religions, those looking for power beyond their means. without these items of worships new flesh cannot be installed within the orisha of choosing, and so "new" gods cannot come to be, as aadé is a "new" god under eshu's name and influence once his blood is chosen.
there is also unrest in the great kingdom, as orisha fade those that would seek more power aim to take it from the graves of their own fallen gods. this causes tensions to rise between orisha, and war between them is close to breaking. as a result, ogun, the orisha of war and metals — who is said to have cleared the path with his axe for orisha to enter the physical world, has closed the paths, leaving orisha unable to enter each other's realms and only allowing them entry to their own realms, and the physical world, making conflict less likely, though not impossible should they cross each other.
it is entirely accidental that adé becomes eshu, as eshu has not wished since their dawn to change flesh. however, whilst travelling the physical world, as with the nature of the chosen bloodline eshu was drawn to adé, nearing and closing the distance between them until smacking into him (spiritually) and merging them together. with this reluctance, for a long time, eshu fights the change, living inside of adé and making appearances when strong enough to break through the ties on his soul housing eshu's being within him.
the change is slow, at first. immediately adé feels a heaviness that has been slowly creeping his entire life, on his shoulders, within his chest, surrounding him and making the air tight. there are whispers at night, during the warm dawn on his morning runs, at dusk during winter nights. until the day he is summoned to eshu's ... now his realm, and those creatures, beings living within the confines of his worship advise him of his new duties and what he has become.
it should be noted, though eshu is not responsible for the falling of orisha and their weakened worship, in this lore and this story, they take advantage of it and have been travelling the physical world in search of the orisha's items of worship and tools, to hoard and keep, to bring about "new" gods at their own will, by their choosing, as and when they think they should arise. or are they? to be revealed. this makes eshu a disliked orisha amongst those who "know" of their games and their intent, but there are those that it remains unknown to, and will be allies to adé where some will turn their backs regardless of the new skin eshu wears, the new mind he possesses.
personality.
with his new role, adé shows a great deal of reluctance. having gone from a normal man in his (early to mid) twenties with his own aspirations and goals for his future, to a deified figure of a religion he has not devoted himself that his parents did, that they wished him to.
quick witted, prankster and a skilled liar (little white lies, like the time he'll be home, where he's been and who he's seen, but this will later be a more formidable skill), that adé will later attribute to having always been destined to become eshu. he's always been funny, relaxed and easy to get along with.
known for dramatics, more so in his instalment as eshu, due to the disbelief and initial unwillingness to do the job, to put right and take on the task of re-installing the gods.
the knowing of the unknown to him. as he begins his journey as eshu, adé is flooded with knowledge that he isn't aware he possesses, like how to interpret messages using dilogun, or how to use his keys or open pathways and crossroads. as well as information and memories from the past, from eshu's travels before their merger, to what other orisha's tools are capable of. for the most part, whenever adé knows the answer to something his immediate thought says he does not know, this always shocks him and turns his stomach slightly, a reminder that he's no longer just adé, but has years of immortality behind and ahead of him, an entire life he didn't live but knows as well as the lines on his palm.

QU YUAN, HÒUYÌ . SINGULARITY : THE BEAST FĒILIÁN.
ability-derived life-form created in a lab in guangzhou, china. weapons materialiser and host of the singularity beast, fēilián. keeper of balance under the guidance of the ministry. he/him. 25. 6ft3inches.
⁽ ¹ ⁾ fēilián ( 飛廉 ) : god of the wind, a winged dragon with the head of a deer and the tail of a snake. from the southern tradition, first attested in the influential poem li sao by qu yuan, wherein feilian assists the poet in part of their mystical journey. in later readings feilian is known as the wind deity fengbo, who carries the wind with him in a bag and causes trouble. fengbo in this reading is kept in check by hòuyì ( 后羿 ), the heavenly archer.
⁽ ² ⁾ in keeping with the reading of fengbo being kept in check by hòuyì, the heavenly archer, hòuyì's primary ability is weapon materialisation. various weapons such as guns, knives and swords can be pulled from within his chest cavity, for larger weapons, or materialise in the palm of his hand for those that are smaller, the only stipulation for this ability being that for him to create said weapon, he has to have physically touched one similar in his lifetime. if he is disarmed, the weapon will simply cease to exist. his ability is named tiānwèn, “ questions to heaven ”.
⸺ hòuyì . hòu ( 后 , monarch ) yì ( 羿, a character unique to the name within the mythos )
hòuyì is male, 25. standing at 6ft3inches, at one point in his youth with long black hair that he keeps tied into a ponytail with parted bangs and framing pieces, though he later comes to cut this into a shorter style, and grows it out post-defection from his organisation. he possesses a beauty mark on the left side of his nose on the bridge of it, and has green eyes. he is easily humoured with a natural curiosity for the world around him, mimics other's habits in an attempt to find ones he likes. he does not easily feel morally connotated emotions such as sadness, guilt and grief, but is hot-headed and scathing on opportunity.
hòuyì is an ability-derived life-form created by a chinese scientist under the name of nüwa within a lab in guangzhou, china. subject to his creation he was firstly known simply as no.14 before he named himself hòuyì upon venturing out into the world under the guidance of the ministry. he was made alongside a partner, chang'e, both biologically engineered to be each other's anchor. as it is within mythology and legend, they are bonded, regarded as one whole being, the term partner used with deeper meaning.
the ministry exist as an elite selection of china's best researchers and military personnel. within its science division nüwa and her team were tasked with researching cloning and the implementation of singularity beasts within such individuals, similar to the scientific advancements in both japan and france.
similar to the hunting dogs, hòuyì is used by the ministry to keep balance within society and heads a team of operatives alongside his partner, who was created within the same laboratory. this means taking out corrupt officials under order and investigating those of criminal interest. the field of scope for this is worldwide. similarly still to paul verlaine, hòuyì also assassinates those named on his roster, without much regard for their morality or standing. a sort of not my job kind of agreement. though it is mostly limited to those with significant criminal interest or intent. hòuyì and his team are also responsible for sourcing subjects.
the ministry are responsible for placying hòuyì and chang'e in professions of near royalty across chinese society. it is a known fact that they are genetically engineered and house within them ancient gods with powerful abilities, that which could end the world if they chose, but it is not common knowledge that they are clones. as they are representative of scientific progress, and being that they are advertised to complete such mission-work for the greater good of their country and their people, they are regarded highly, as almost on-par with royalty. hòuyì and chang'e attend events of wealth, meet with political parties (all while completing their top-secret mission-work, dirtying their hands for the greater good of their organisation).
hòuyì is aware that he is not his own original being. five years ago, upon learning this fact from nüwa, hòuyì went on a blind rampage and destroyed the machinery keeping qu yuan, his “original” alive and thus killing him. nüwa delivered that information to him to see how he would react and to measure the consequences of his emotions. since that day, houyi, in a deranged sense of individuality and self, claims himself as his own original as there is no other, despite the property tag that sits inked into his skin at the bottom of his ribcage.
this is not to be mistaken for hòuyì believing that he is human. he knows and will admit this fact, but he refers to himself as his own singular being, not wanting to be likened to another that no longer exists.
hòuyì is an exploration of human emotion and action. often he doesn't understand and questions if the things he does are on impulse, or because he's been told he should feel a certain way, do a certain thing in the marrow of his genetic coding. things like anger, sadness, love, he's unsure if he's truly capable of feeling them if they are emotions which can be so easily rewritten or dialled back by removing a few lines of his coded make-up. he's a study on morality and the call to action, he wonders if, without being what he is, what exactly he would amount to if he truly was his original self.
before engaging in any type of confrontation, he has the habit of rolling his cuff sleeves up twice. he “smokes”, which is to say that he lights cigarettes and holds them between his fingers, because it's something he's seen so many others do. a “human” thing.
hòuyì and his defection from the ministry.
hòuyì, though a loyal member and considered to be the face of his organisation alongside partner, chang'e, enters a state of confusion regarding his own self upon the revelation that nüwa, the scientist responsible for his creation, is his own mother. or rather, the mother of his original being, qu yuan. qu yuan was a sickly child stated not to live past the age of seven without serious medical intervention and continuous life-support. nüwa thus spearheaded the scientific project relating to cloning, successfully creating hòuyì and then raising him from birth. however, when she noticed differences in his appearance (his green eyes, where qu yuan's were brown), his use of his left hand as opposed to his right, to how he spoke and smiled with the wrong side of his mouth, chewed the wrong side of his cheek and his preferences regarding food, she could no longer bear to look at him and denounced him as her son, which he was never to know, as hòuyì had never been told the truth of his creation.
when scientists heard rumours swelling regarding the creation of singularity beasts in france and japan, they sought the information themselves and moulded the ministry around this project, bringing in their best scientists and military personnel and effectively taking over large sections of chinese government and society. as the lead scientist of the program, nüwa entered hòuyì into the program, making him (alongside chang'e, past their introduction to one another) the first of the singularity beast holders in china's arsenal. they further altered his dna to accommodate the beast caged within his "soul" and biologically wired him to chang'e, as stated the term partner means more to them than is comprehensible to a regular person, as they were designed to compliment each other, to be able to bring each other back to their base status of being.
while hòuyì had always known he was not his own original self, he could not have foreseen the revelation that his own "mother" had created and then discarded him, yet had kept an active role in "mothering" him throughout his life, though cruel and distant. she fed him constant reminders that he was a soulless being, less than human and never to be considered such.
this information was revealed to him by an outside source researching deep into the history of the ministry, alongside the knowledge that chang'e was not was she seemed, and he had been lied to on all fronts, for all of his life. he was told this information to prompt his outrage, to force his hand into dismantling the organisation he had regarded as his family, to destroy it, forever.
with the knowledge tucked into his palm, he confronted nüwa and had hoped that it would be a lie, a tale, something he could forget - it wasn't, as she confessed, burden lifted from her shoulders, and she could finally regard him as the mistake that she thought he was, that she had created because she grieved her own son before his death. for this, hòuyì flew into a rage he later would barely remember, and killed her. the details of her death are something he dares not share, something he wishes he was not biologically programmed to remember with the eidetic memory they gave him. he then killed his own original being, qu yuan, who was kept alive in one of the facility buildings, destroying his life-support and holding him as he died in a moment of empathy and a need for relation, even from someone he had come to despise for being what he could not, human. though they never spoke a word to each other, the silence that hung between them as his lungs heaved for breaths they couldn't hold, his mirror-image, would haunt hòuyì for a long time.
hòuyì made his intentions to defect known to chang'e, and she refused to go with him. angry with the lies she had fed him, had helped maintain all the while knowing and understanding the truth of what he was, he left without her. however, biologically tethered to one another the distance between them hurt more than mentally, it was physically crippling, and so the two continued to meet, with hòuyì planting the seeds of her own defection with each meeting held between the two, rebuilding the trust of their partnership until they rejoined.
the singularity beast, fēlián.
in line with other ability-derived beings, to call upon his singularity beast and open his gate hòuyì must recite the following, an excerpt from li sao, “ encountering sorrow ”.
the world is dark, and envious of my grace; they veil my virtue and the evil blessing. thy chamber dark lies in recesses deep, sagacious prince, risest thou not from slumber? my zeal unknown the prince would not descry; how could i bear this harsh eternity?
like chuuya and verlaine, hòuyì possesses a base status if opening his gate that he refers to as eternity, taken directly from the excerpt he must speak from to activate it. in this state he can tap into fēilián's singular abilities, but he is unconscious and therefore does not possess the ability to think through his actions, and acts mindlessly on situational dependence. in this state, lighter green tendrils form over his skin, though somewhat liquid in their form, rounded at the edges and ever-flowing and changing in their shape and direction.
once hòuyì opens his gate completely and not at its basis stage of eternity, the singularity beast feilian manifests as a large chimeric being of deep green, a dragon with the head of a deer and the tail of a snake, it is not made of physical matter and does not possess organs at which to strike, but hòuyì exists at its core, and can be seen within its translucent “skin”. inside of fēilián, hòuyì remains an unconscious host, being that he is designed to contain feilian and not to control it.
fēilián is the god of wind, when manifested fēilián holds the ability to create gusts that can annihilate terrain until nothing exists within its path. trapping fields of terrain with a winded shield to prevent intruders or escapes during battle. fēilián can also create razor-sharp currents of air, explosions of hyper-pressurised air, and emit a sonic scream by manipulating sound waves, amongst other abilities. as fēilián does not possess a voice of its own as an intangible being, if it speaks it has houyi's voice, though it is a distorted mimicry.
fēilián as a singularity beast possesses the innate need and want for freedom and despises being held captive, and so upon release will do anything in its power to stay outside of houyi's body, though it does not want to kill its host, as it will cease to exist.
unlike other ability-derived beings such as paul verlaine, hòuyì does not have the sequence implemented that he needs to be touched in order to close his gate. instead, each of the operatives under his command are entrusted with a special bullet made from scientifically converted metals that when fired into the centre of feilian's organless form, thus hitting houyi, will implement a termination sequence and close his gate, sealing feilian back inside his body. alternatively, and only within his base status he need only hear the words, but swift was the sun and it soon would be dusk, a single line from encountering sorrow that will return him to his normal state.
unknown to anyone but themselves and their immediate entourage, chang'e and hòuyì are each other's anchors, each others switch back to humanity. in their base or beast states, they need only touch one another, skin to skin, in order to seal that power away within the other. as such, they work in tandem to ensure that one of them is almost always conscious and in control of themselves to be able to perform this duty to the other. this is not only because they care deeply for one another, but also because the other methods of concealment are highly painful and will have lasting effects on the mind and body, where this method, in being in tune with each other, is much calmer and brings them back quicker and without much shock to their bodies.
within the nature of his role under the guidance of the ministry, hòuyì and his counterpart are implemented with a coded sequence in which their bodies will start to naturally decay without a back-up sequence, that can be accessed remotely both at the lab and outside of it via a modified computer. as such, hòuyì and his counterpart have a third, essential associate junfeng whom, if they are not close to the lab, can implement this code for them to keep them stable. that is their only role within the team. this must be done every two months, and without it their bodies will wither from the inside slowly and painfully, a consequence of possible, true individuality and betrayal.

his general bsd verse, as detailed above however there are key narrative points or explorations that can be written where characters are concerned, namely the ministry's fascination with singularity holders nakahara chuuya and paul verlaine, and the rumours that paul verlaine had lost his singularity, or his special ability, and had been given a new one by friend arthur rimbaud. the ministry would wish to study this up close, meaning hòuyì and chang'e would have to attempt to reach an agreement with yokohama's port mafia for the release of paul verlaine into their "care". this verse is also inclusive of many urban fantasy models and can be tailored to better suit.
there is also a general modern, wherein hòuyì is not a special ability user but still a genetically engineered bio-weapon. jjk verse available, alongside a wide range of other animanga his narrative fits into.
his csm (chainsaw man) verse, where his "canon-verse" narrative regarding his creation instead closely follows a story similar to reze. a devil-hybrid, fused with the hunting devil, otherwise known by the moniker, the devil of the hunt. this is in-keeping with mythologies depicting hòuyì as a skilled hunter, having slain many creatures and bringing forth their heads to the reigning emperors, but also in some depictions for being cruel. abilities manifest as weapons materialisation (ranging from bows and arrows, to guns, to a great many others), enhanced tracking (meaning that he can place markers on his enemies which manifest on their clothing or skin as a typically depicted scope-sight, however only he can see this), speed and strength. to enter his hybrid form, he must pull a pin below his ribcage. the transformation turns his skin a translucent green, like a hunter making him almost camouflaged with his surroundings, and opens his chest cavity, for which he can pull weapons of his choosing, however this is also a weak point, and so he is careful not to let others too close. to return to his human state, he need only close the cavity with that same pin, dragging it upward almost like a zip, shielding his organs and once again turning his skin its normal colour. as the devil of the hunt, hòuyì is hard to track and even harder to spot, even if you know where he is. however, like most devils serving an organisation, they wish to harness the chainsaw devil's powers, and so hòuyì can likely be found in japan, awaiting orders or perhaps infiltrating the ranks of the devil hunters alongside partner and she who is known as his wife, chang'e. as the concept of hybrid-devils no longer exists due to being eaten by the chainsaw devil some time ago, hòuyì's age is undetermined.

team possible. team possible is comprised of wu jīn bǎi lì, guān bò ruòhán, rú fēi, &. wade. though it's no secret the formers are part of elite organisation global justice, they use monikers, like many other vigilantes, superheroes and supervillains they come across. wu jīn bǎi lì, known as kim possible to their associates, is the clear leader as her moniker suggests. she is their field navigator and combat expert, and at points has taken missions solo for global justice without the help of her team. guān bò ruòhán, known as ron stoppable to their associates, is known to provide a range of stall tactics and distractions, and for being clumsy. he is fond of and likes playing with various gadgetry. he is often seen accompanied by his pet naked mole-rat, rú fēi, who possesses exceptional intelligence for a common house-pet, and is considered to be his soul brother. rú fēi is known to sneak into small spaces, chew wires and disarm large weaponry, when the situation calls for it. wade, with no known aliases. wade is the youngest member of team possible, and no doubt the smartest. a college-grade mind within the body of a teenager in his youth, he's responsible for the creation of the kimmunicator, the pda-style device used to communicate with kim. wade creates a wide range of gadgetry all designed to aid kim in battle. wade is usually only seen through screens, but has been known to travel to help kim in missions when ron is unavailable or otherwise indisposed. the three (four) members of team possible are incredibly close, and consider each other family.
the beginning of kim possible, and thus team possible. when jīn bǎi lì reached fourteen, she wanted to advance her allowance given to her by her family, and set up a babysitting business in order to do so. using her phonteically similar nickname and her motto "anything is possible" she set up the website kimpossible.com, citing as the header, "i can do anything". a couple of successful babysitting gigs later, and she had also joined the gymnastics team when a message came through from a customer advising they were in a sticky situation, stuck behind security lasers they had installed and entrapped both themself and their client. the customer had been attempting to contact team impossible, a "super secret commando squad" under global justice, but as he was typing with his foot through the only available slot through the lasers, he accidentally typed kim instead. once she arrived she was wary, debating calling the local authorities to rescue the customer and his client, however with the confidence gained from joining the gymnastics team and a nudge from bò ruòhán, who had accompanied her, the two rescued them both, the customers who were surprised to see a teenage girl coming to their aid. after this, her notoriety as a heroine only grew until she found herself being approached for help by people on a global scale, including foreign governments, royalty and military outposts. this alerted global justice to her position, and the rest is history.
global justice. global justice is otherwise known as GJ and is headed by dr. betty. it is a worldwide espionage organisation that deals with any threats to the world that fall outside of the scope of normal law enforcement, government or military groups. it is also home to many of the world's finest scientists, weapons and agents. global justice has many modes of transportation, and are known to pick kim and her associates up in the most subversive ways, even arranging phony crimes in order to lure them to meeting spots, when duty calls. global justice work in tandem with other agencies of similar intent, sharing intelligence and sometimes agents when needing to be dispatched to shared missions and locations. her days of being an exam-taking teen heroine long behind her, kim possible works for global justice on a full-time basis, and liaises with other organisations across the world. with specialist technology available on a top-secret basis to global justice, kim possible is able to make landfall in different countries in less than half the time it would take commercial travel lines that are available to the public.
wu jīn bǎi lì vs. kim possible. the two are the same, that's all there is to it. it's no secret in her private or public life that wu jīn bǎi lì is also crime-fighting vigilante kim possible, which does often put her in sticky situations when targeted by supervillains and organisations who do not want her in the way of their plans. her family and friends are supportive, school-friends aware of her position and yet she maintains her high status as a popular, outgoing member of sports and more educational clubs. it bothers nobody, unless for some reason it directly effects them, of which she does her best so ensure it never does. but there are no differences between her two personas, both are keenly aware of their surroundings, both are kind and patient, both strive to save the day.
personality. jīn bǎi lì is confident and assertive, living by her motto "anything is possible" (which in original content is "i can do anything" but for the purpose of this rewrite has been changed, allowing for "anything is possible" which is something her father says in the source content, but this is to be a direct link to the reason she adds possible to her moniker as a reminder). typically she bright and cheerful, and is known for having a large heart, compelling her to put her abilities to use and help others, putting their needs above her own. however, she is also competitive and arrogant, especially when people she cares for appear to best her at things.
she has a type a personality, meaning: she is impatient, highly organised, time-urgent and focused, prone to stress and anger but is high achieving and extremely hardworking. however she can be bossy, and prefers to do things herself rather than risk the failure or embarrassment of others. she sets high standards for herself and those around her and can be angered if she herself, or others, do not meet those standards.
despite being a hero, as she grew into the role in her teens she was prone to common teenage anxiety and insecurity. even into early adulthood, she still pouts, still finds herself embarrassed by her parents, lashes out when she doesn't her own way and although she is confident in her abilities, she still finds herself manipulated by those she considers rivals or people trying to goad her into fighting, by wanting to prove herself to them.
a known example is her first meeting with will dù, a fellow global justice member and someone she has known since her school years, who called her an amateur to her face, sparking a heated rivalry between the two of them, countlessly trying to outdo each other and become further irreplaceable within their shared organisation. similarly she has established rivalries with shego, the villainess, and bonnie rockwaller, a transfer student and fellow gymnast when in high school and in their adult lives. jīn bǎi lì and shego often come to blows within seconds of seeing each other, driven by an obsessive desire to overcome each other. meanwhile, bonnie had never hidden the fact she wished to embarrass and surpass jīn bǎi lì and take her place as head of the gymnastics team in their younger years.
as stated, despite her overwhelming confidence in herself and her skills, jīn bǎi lì still shows insecurity and especially so when it comes to dating. she is unsure of herself and how she will be perceived, worried that her status as a highly sought-after heroine would be off-putting and intimidating. in a similar vein, in her younger years she is also aware of how overprotective her father is.
jīn bǎi lì is protective of those she loves and equally so of others, going out of her way to preserve peoples feelings and rarely saying no to offers for dates, or missions no mater how burned out it makes her. friends have asked her why she can't "just say no" and she has revealed that she's simply "not programmed that way". in her younger years and when she first met guān bò ruòhán, she would protect him from bullies, and in their professions as heroes, she will be the first to swoop in and save him if needed, giving her all to making sure they both make it out alive.
in her position as a full-time global justice operative, jīn bǎi lì is more sure of herself than she has ever been. she regularly takes on work and finds herself touching the soil of numerous different countries within the span of a week, aiding in crisis and taking down villains. once her kimmunicator sounds, she jumps into action, no matter what she's doing.

her high achieving nature extends to her athleticism, where she peaks in terms of human strength, metabolism and extensive reflexes, all of which she perfected in her youth as part of the gymnastics team and continues to develop through her time on the olympic team. she claims this is due to her "rockin' genetics" and sees this reflected in her grandmother's youth, the two being remarkably similar and following the same professions. regardless of where it comes from, this incredible control over herself and her own strength allows her to perform death-defying moves on the regular, inclusive of somersaulting between laser beams and climbing atop active rockets with little visible effort. adjacent to this, she is a proficient swimmer, also having been part of the swim team in her youth - she has sum the english channel as part of her work, and one of her unique skills includes scuba diving.
she has mastered numerous types and styles of martial arts, knowing sixteen different types of kung-fu, inclusive of tánglángquán passed down from her grandmother and a key element to her personal fighting style. her skills are finely demonstrated in being able to go toe to toe against villains such as shego, who is also experienced in numerous forms of hand to hand combat, and whose enhanced strength and abilities allow her to tear through structures with ease. jīn bǎi lì, despite her fame, is strong and capable enough of hitting someone hard enough to knock them to the floor and even into unconsciousness with a single blow. she is skilled both armed, and unarmed.
she is a fast learner and possesses high intelligence. she enjoys learning new skills both useful for her profession and for fun, such as rock-climbing, paragliding, and skiing. in her youth she managed to maintain high test scores despite the constant need for her help around the globe, as she made sure that she included time for studying between missions, or when journeying to locations. her schoolwork was important, just as much as keeping herself up to date with worldly affairs is in her adult life.
however despite her intelligence, she is the least scientifically-mined member of her family. with her parents being established in the scientific community with rocket science and medical professions, kim has fallen behind in this aspect with her mission-work. it's no matter, as her brothers will likely make up for this. even so, before she graduated from high school she received acceptances and invitations from various highly sought after educational institutions around the world.

as a civilian, she is very fashion forward, liking modern traditional clothing and colours, expressing her personality through these choices. she likes heels and heeled boots when going out, and in daily life wears sneakers or shoes that are easy to run, jump, somersault in. however, she can run in heels and do most stunts she would perform out of them, too. she can also be seen wearing chunky headphones over her dyed, cherry-red hair. she likes jewellery and styling her hair. within gymnastic competitions she wears the standard leotard, leg warmers, each different styles depending where she is competing and the themes available.
as an operative, she keeps herself mostly tailored to a black mock turtleneck, cropped at the waist which allows for movement. she wears dark gloves with a thin cuff to protect her hands and eliminate the risk of leaving behind fingerprints where none should be left, if that is the mission brief. she wears green cargo pants with her utility belt strapped around her waist and sneakers. sometimes her shirt is replaced with a purple shirt and her pants changed to black, though this is usually for overseas missions as she will need to blend better with other operatives.

heavily inspired by the shows x-files, dandadan, etc. hiến is one half of the "the fanatic and the skeptic" trope, with herself as the non-believer, the one always second-guessing the answer and out to prove that the likes of paranormal and extraterrestrial just simply do not exist.
she works as a consultant/agent for various affiliations (or wherever her verses take her).
the nature of her disbelief means that she mostly consults on cases of the ordinary and gory sort. missing persons, illegal weapons shipments and murders, serial killers, she's your contact. however in rare cases (that become increasingly more frequent) she's asked to consult within cases of that nature purely for the fact she will try to disprove the theory, or her "other half" is asked to consult on her cases because there is an unexplained element to it.
hiến has the mentality of someone who is always looking for an answer, so where the otherworldly or extraordinary are concerned, she won't rest until she's found a gas leak, a link to mass religious hysteria or a large animal that made the crop-circles.
in her section of the offices you'll find the walls adorned with sticky-notes and red string, pins and quickly scribbled notes, notebooks piled high with fraying spines from overuse.
she's messy, but it's an organised mess. however also the kind of mess that finds coffee-rings on important documents and three week old lunches left in the shared refrigerator (she swears she won't let it happen again, but that's a lie).
hiến is headstrong, though is severely underused to her full potential, because of her strong opinions and inability to back down when she thinks she's in the right. how she holds onto her job, her colleagues do wonder, but she always closes the case and always gets good results.
with regards to the occult, the paranormal and the extraterrestrial, hiến cannot see spirits, and they cannot interact with her. she has been told this by numerous believers that this is why she remains untouched by them, though she refuses to accept it. as she doesn't read much into this explanation, she has never let it be taught to her in terms that would harbour understanding, therefore she doesn't know why this is.
however, her disbelief on the subjects does not mean disinterest. hiến, if she's wrong (which in her mind, she isn't) is up for being proved so, "if this shit is real" but it stands that for the above reason, it's highly unlikely she will ever be proved wrong. it doesn't matter how many weird fingerprints smudge themselves in condensation right in front of her eyes.
she's constantly trying to prove that her department is important and should be allowed out of the basement. hasn't happened yet, but she knows it will, one day.
personality.
calm, cool, analytical. the first onto a crime-scene and one of the last out of the offices. always scribbling notes in one of her pads, clicking her pen absently. quick-thinker, notices small details regarding the scene before most.
a good conversationalist, though she has issues reading people in her confusion regarding her own presentation to others. often speaks without thinking, sometimes leading to unintentional hurt, conflict, or even flirtatious statements.
a fidgeter, either with her pen, hair or whatever objects she can get her hands on. she used to smoke, so now she has a fake e-cigarette she'll stand outside and hold, when stressors are high. she also has a fabric and velcro "dart-board" that she plays with when deep in thought in the office and needs to "pin" down the ideas she's chasing.

hiến does not consider herself religious, like some vietnamese people, while still practicing traditional folk beliefs such as ancestor veneration (the act of ritual worship to one's deceased ancestors, loved ones, with the belief that they continue to exist after death and influence the lives of the living) passed through her parent's education on their culture. this does conflict directly with her beliefs against the otherworldly and extraordinary, but its something she keeps separate, where possible, though it not always easy. as stated in the above, even ancestors cannot reach or communicate with her, though they can influence her surroundings.

witty, popular within both her work and home lives. however the late nights spent in the office don't do much for relationships (though if her partner can't handle her love for her job, they clearly can't handle her at all) or keeping up with friends much, she has a close-knit circle of family and friends willing to see her through thick and thin.

mitsuki koga is lesbian woman in her early to mid twenties. born and raised in japan, in her early childhood and teens residing with her uncle, joe, after the death of her parents.
mitsuki comes under scrutiny from her peers at school for refusing to dress like other girls her age, namely that she refuses to wear a skirt and feels more comfortable presenting less femininely and more androgynously. she can be seen in dark, baggy clothing adorned with band logos and chains across her belt.
she is often mistaken for a boy, due to the clothes she wears and "othered" personality.
this progresses into adulthood, where she finds comfort in expressing her sense of style through the clothes she wears.
mitsuki in her teens has a short, straight bob with blunt bangs sitting just above her eyebrows. in later years, she grows this out into a shaggier style and her hair gains some wave, likely due to not having to be styled for school.
in her school years, she mostly wears it in a low bun.
mitsuki has nine piercings, four on her left ear and five on the right. she likes jewellery, namely rings and necklaces, later in adulthood she has her tongue pierced and considers her eyebrow, though it rejects and she is instead left with a neat-lined scar.
she is usually never without her black-painted nails, unless in her school years, where she carried nail polish remover in her school-bag and removed it before the start of classes on a monday morning.
she wears wide-rimmed glasses though will sometimes wear contacts, however she dislikes having to remember to put them in.
general notes.
mitsuki was raised by her uncle from the age of nine, after her parents disappeared in a spiritual event that many assume claimed their lives. with no bodies recovered, she was passed into his care alongside, at the time, his partner kanna (who later moved for work and causing their separation, with joe unwilling to follow as he swore to care for mitsuki in place of her parents).
while her parents were alive and practicing spirit mediums and spiritual conduits like herself, mitsuki was a traditional shrine maiden. however, under her uncle's care she is able to practice her abilities under means that make her more comfortable, namely through music (and her chosen instrument, the guitar and its electric counterpart).
her uncle owns a cd/record store, where she works part-time. the store also doubles as a front for his business as a spiritual medium, wherein clientele enquire regarding earthbound spirits and yokai within their lives. joe is a known exorcist, and like mitsuki uses music to communicate with the death or otherwise otherworldly.
when not working at the record store, she has another part-time position at a bar. where one shift ends another begins, but sometimes she gets the nights off.
mitsuki takes great pride in her music taste, favouring western punk and rock, indie and folk music and applying that to her abilities as a spiritual conduit and her own songwriting. she creates the playlist the store uses and likes to frequently organise the shelves based on what she's most into at the current time.
she aspires to make it in the music industry under the moniker, me2her. her singles can be found on various social media sites if someone knows what to look for.
abilities and how she uses them.
as stated above, mitsuki possesses spectral resonance, the ability to communicate with earthbound spirits and yokai, breaking the barriers between the realms of the living and dead and strengthening them, which she notably completes through music, both instrumental and vocal.
alongside her uncle, the two have written and performed various rites through this method, becoming popular within their circles for doing so. they're often invites to play at festivals, where the barriers between realms are at their weakest and spirits and yokai are known to prey on the living and/or try to communicate, inhabit and walk among them.
the above is taking inspiration from dandadan and the fictional band hayasii, which are much the same.
mitsuki is also spiritually aware, with the ability to see spirits, yokai and kami and communicate even without the medium of music. if she's looking behind you for an extended period of time, don't worry!
she is known power borrower, like her uncle and parents before her. a skill that has been passed through her family as well as divination. this means that she draws power from the kami of her region, and regions she visits.
taking inspiration from kpop demon hunters, her use of music is also a form of exorcism, and using various spiritual weapons in her family's keep, she regularly exorcises various evildoing spirits.
personality.
mitsuki is reserved, quiet, and mostly keeps to herself. she likes her own company and often gets lost in her own thoughts, or the music blasting through her headphones.
she has fairly poor communication skills due to being ostracised in her childhood, both for her favoured presentation and her ability to see and communicate with the dead, which was no secret to the nature of her family's chosen professions.
in her teens, she was unconfident and had poor self-esteem, though in adulthood and after coming into herself and her own personal style, both in dress and everyday life, this has changed.
she still dislikes being the centre of attention in most situations, though this can seem to melt away when she's lost in the music, both on her own and when taking on spiritual cases.
mitsuki tends to hide her feelings, choosing to bottle them up instead of sharing them with friends/loved ones. this has been known to cause miscommunication, something she also hates, as she doesn't like being misunderstood despite knowing herself, that she is likely the cause.

ecology. leannán sídhe are fae creatures of vibrant beauty, full of life. shapechangers that can alter their form to better suit the eyes of their prey. beings of neutrality, neither good nor evil and acting only to their nature. acting as muses among other aos sí and mortals alike, a leannán sídhe will pick a gifted mortal artist and spend a yet unlimited amount of time with them, offering them the gift of artistic inspiration should they accept the leannán sídhe's advances. the leannán sídhe becomes their muse, their reason for being, until the fae has had their fill and bestows upon them the kiss of death that turns the mortal mad and eventually drains them of life. however --- should their advances be refused, and said immortal "immune" to the beguiling nature of the leannán sídhe, the fae will be bound to them not of their own will, and the gifted mortal is free to use their inspiration as they see fit, while the leannán sídhe gains nothing in return --- bound to the mortal until their death and unable to take in their blood or lifeforce, tainted by rejection. alternatively, if the mortal wastes the inspiration and talents bestowed upon them by the leannán sídhe, they will become vengeful and ill of spirit, killing them before they have the chance to flourish under their gift. in fitting with the western interpretation of vampirism, leannán sídhe can drain their mortal lovers within the kiss of death and taking in their blood and lifeforce, the love and admiration felt for the fae in the time they spent together, to enhance their beauty and power for further time. inspirations in other sources of media. american gods, sinners, the sandman, the vampire chronicles, song of the sea, lord of the rings, the chronicles of narnia, the princess bride, pan's labyrinth, the witcher, underworld: rise of the lycans.
personality. quick to anger, moods change often and don't tend to stick too long. aloof, likes distance unless she's preying on potential victims, in which case she suits whichever personality she can sense they desire, just to draw them in. strong-willed, set in her ways and dislikes change. egotistical, likes herself and her own company (though not for too long), thinks a lot of herself, very opinionated and thinks she's always right (she's rarely wrong). she has a loud laugh, but the kind that's warm and inviting until it's cold and cutting, when you can tell she's no longer laughing with you but at you. traditional, visits those that worship her and bestows upon them what gifts she can, without being cruel and devouring, aiding luck and the fertility of lands that choose to still be devout to her kind. untraditional, which is not that contrary to the previous, but instead she believes that adapting to the modern world and modern beliefs is not all bad, where it is possible (though if you suggest adaptation or change to her, she's likely to bite your head off than admit she was thinking it too). playful, in both good and bad nature, likes a game of cat and mouse. loving, to those she chooses to love, she is warm and kind, aims to please, wants to give, wants to be around her companions and friends, wants to protect them by any means.
occupation. in tír tairngire, róisín like other fae is responsible for tending to the land and the same is said for above, replenishing ley lines and aiding the fertility of the land as she travels it. she is also the keeper of the claíomh solais --- the sword of light, a relic brought by the tuatha dé danann to ireland when they first claimed the land. in fantasy verses, travelers must come across her to claim the sword to defeat an enemy.
above ground, in the modern world and its everchanging times --- she travels the land and preys upon mortals and their gifted artists. in earlier centuries she would occupy a castle in the mounds and hoard her sonnets, poems, love songs and portraits all with herself as the muse featured at their centre. her castle is surrounded by vibrant plant life and mobile, mostly unseen to the naked mortal eye unless weakened and appearing in the low forests, preferably by a body of water. in the introduction of catholicism to gaelic ireland, few mortals became immune to her nature in denouncing their belief of the old folklore in favour of new religion, and she at one point finding herself enslaved to a mortal that took advantage of her gift, and in her weakened state she was thought to be a witch, a púca (shapeshifting trickster of ill intent), or a vampire (of abhartach, the undead that was slain). they burned her home and her cherished treasures, almost claiming her life before the mortal she was bound to succumbed to a wound inflicted in protecting her, though an act of selfishness in trying to keep hold of her. once freed, she enacted her revenge on the townspeople and left it near barren, sparing only the women and young children before fleeing back to tír tairngire to recuperate. there she is myth and legend, though never returning.

noticeable features. a scar, situated across the bridge of her nose and extending underneath her left eye, a bandage present on her right hand when she isn't working personality. somewhat closed - off, but kind and devoted to maintaining her friendships and relationships, a doer --- whatever it is that someone needs, she will do her best to provide it. she is practical and often stand-offish and derisive towards people, liking to at first keep a distance, meaning that most of her friendships have been forced upon her by others (she loves so deeply, though). generous with death when it comes to rogue/corrupt dire, not willing to prolong suffering the way her own has been skills. enhanced speed and regeneration abilities, the ability to will the blood of others --- able to stop them from moving, able to stop the flow of blood to limbs and organs. she can regenerate lost blood quickly, but only once a wound has closed --- she does not possess any greater healing abilities than that of any other dire/venkari. she is skilled at hiding her emotions, at working under pressure and differing herself from others. weaknesses. she grieves people she hasn't yet lost, reckless with her life --- that she thinks she is alive for no greater purpose, she will risk it for results. being that she uses blood to manifest weaponry, often once her target has been exorcised or brought to defeat, she will find herself dizzy on her feet and may need time to recover physically. the pact she shares with this ancient demon often manifests in communication with it, but she does her best to ignore its attempts for conversation and/or control. as it lives within a human vessel it is weaker than in its own form, but often will try and manifest itself outside of her body, resulting in painful markings that take time to fade.

for starters, mirage is an assault group within the port mafia adhering to the order of the executives, alongside the likes of the black lizard. made up of five key members and a battalion, three of which are ability users, mizaru at their head. they work on tactical subjugation due to the nature of mizaru's ability being able to rid entire opposing squads of their sight and hearing. this makes them a prime choice for any necessary assassinations in tandem with other port mafia groups and members such as akutagawa gin. they have been known to be sent overseas.

raised in the slums of yokohama, mizaru was discovered at thirteen by port mafia officers as they partook in a job in the surrounding area. feeling threatened, mizaru robbed them of their senses in attempt to force them to leave. seeing this as a potential advantage for the port mafia's ability - user arsenal, she was recruited and with her came two younger ability users she had taken into her care.
originally named nakamura yuka, she decided to change this once she had joined the leagues of the port mafia and essentially cut herself off from her previous life, beginning anew. she chose to name herself after a division of her ability, mizaru - see no evil, as within the connotations of her ability's real - life basis, she partakes in the west's interpretation - turning a blind eye to evil and impropriety and using her ability to her advantage within this. ( in an alternative universe, mizaru was sought out by the hunting dogs and uses her ability in the search for justice, though the act of changing her name does not change, only in this context it means she will rid the world of evil under the government's orders. )
having started her life in the slums, on her left - hand mizaru is missing her index and middle fingers, having lost them in a street - fight. she won, but not before her opponent played dirty and bit them clean off. one of the ability - users within mirage possesses the ability to form weapons and other objects from most raw materials, and as a result fashioned mizaru a prosthetic that takes the shape of a two - fingered glove, when worn she is able to hold objects as normal, it bends and moves as though her fingers are there.
her ability, three wise evils, works in nature as mizaru being able to rid others of their sense of sight, hearing and their ability to speak ( this works by closing their throat, cutting off their breathing in the process ). it has a large radius of around 25km, meaning it is effective in long - range disabling of enemy groups and she can use this on multiple bodies, so far without a sure limitation. she possesses the ability to choose which of those she targets, and can differentiate between ally and foe. to begin the process, she must speak the sense she is robbing.
three wise evils exists as a give and take ability, meaning that whichever sense mizaru rids her victims of, she must give one up in return. if mizaru chooses to rob someone of their sight, she must give up her hearing or speech, if she robs them of their hearing she must give up her sight or speech. almost always the former, as ridding herself of her ability to speak closes her throat, too. she can use these in tandem and rid someone of two of their senses, but then she must give up whatever is left for herself. she wears sunglasses so that enemies cannot see which of her own senses she has given up. with missing sight, the eyes of others --- or her own, become a black void that only slips away once the ability is retracted.
due to the nature of her ability, mizaru is always accompanied by another member of mirage whose task, when mizaru is using her ability, is to be her eyes / ears. think - those cute little fish that stick to the sides of sharks and clean them, except this isn't cleaning it's just a protective contingency to make sure she isn't ambushed or set upon in order to stop the darkness and silence.
a skilled weapons user, she carries a standard issue handgun and an array of knives holstered to her belt. she is skilled in evasive and defensive techniques, but is also a proficient close - range fighter, being that she can control when her opponents can see or hear her.
personality wise, honest, assertive and balanced within her own ego. like many within the port mafia she is steadfastly loyal, they gave her a home when she had nothing, and she lost a great deal in wake of the defeat of paul verlaine as his singularity caused dire losses within the port mafia's gifted and non-gifted arsenal.
she is guilt - prone if things go wrong, places a great deal of responsibility on herself to care for those in her charge. in nature she is highly observant and can be cruel to those outside of her circle ie. the port mafia, mirage, and those who seek to threaten them. mizaru is advantageous and aspirational within her goals to ascend in port mafia hierarchy and constantly outdoes herself. she can be apathetic towards pain in others, yet she is earnest and sincere when the need for it arises. notorious grudge - holder, but good - natured and easy to get along with. due to the nature of her ability and her position within mirage, and thus the port mafia, she has an outwardly intimidating persona, but once that gate has been opened she is easy to be around.
with enemies, she likes to play with them before handing them off. her ability is widely used for questioning others alongside tactical subjugation.
NIKI ETSUKO, KINUTA HISAE. SPECIAL ABILITY, NINGYŌ JŌRURI.
ability - user, police sergeant under tokyo metropolitan police department - port mafia member acting as an an undercover information siphon + eliminator of the defected. 24. she/her. 5ft5inches.
etsuko niki was a japanese novelist born in 1928, noted for becoming the first female japanese writer of mystery fiction. her novel, the cat knew features characters etsuko and yuutarou niki a brother and sister duo solving crimes within the clinic that they reside above. inspiration taken for etsuko's alias comes from one of the background characters, a deputy inspector kinuta.
KINUTA 依田 ⁽ 依, to rely + trust in 田, rice paddy ⁾ HISAE 長恵 ⁽ 長, chief + leader 恵, blessing + favour ⁾
the port mafia is not all etsuko has ever known. having lead a fairly normal childhood, her parents owed hefty gambling debts to the previous boss of the port mafia, and in the months leading up to his death when his mental state deteriorated, he had them eliminated when etsuko and yuutarou were seventeen and nineteen, respectively.
the debts remained outstanding and so in an effort to claw back her family's dignity, etsuko and yuutarou joined their ranks. noting that her ability could provide useful, she was kept out of high profile assignments so as to keep her relatively hidden, and in the meantime the plan was formed to have her slip into the tokyo metropolitan policing ranks, siphoning information and keeping tabs on potential issues. yuutarou resides within the port mafia's guerrilla squad.
three years later, her name was changed and ability - user status wiped, and all relevant historical documents were forged including those to show that she had attended university and had graduated with grades reflecting that of a normal student. she passed the policing course and began her journey as double agent, kinuta hisae.
SPECIAL ABILITY, NINGYŌ JŌRURI - ningyō (puppet manipulation) jōruri (to the sound of a joyous tune). otherwise known as bunraku, this is a form of japanese puppetry dating back to the 17th century, in which strings are attached to the necks and limbs of puppets, otherwise referred to as dolls, to perform a narrative to song. hisae's ability manifests as thin, invisible strings that stem from the tips of her fingers and find home in the necks and limbs of her chosen real - life puppets, in which the string at their necks links her to their central nervous system, effectively allowing her to siphon information and emotion from their bodies, alongside controlling them at her will. when she takes control, it renders her chosen puppet unconscious to the sound of a distant song, which is the only thing they remember once they regain consciousness. within the police department, it is not known that she is an ability user, and within the port mafia she is simply known as ningyōtsukai - the puppeteer, a contact in which people rarely see and other than the executives, do not know the true identity of.
standing at 5ft5inches, hisae has long, dark hair that is mostly kept tied away from her face with thickly cut pieces stopping at her chin to frame her face, eyes an earthen brown. she is quick - witted and sharply intelligent, as expected of someone that leads two very different lives and exists merged as two separate people. well - versed in kendo and judo as per her police training, with knowledge of firearms stemming from her time within the port mafia and her training as an officer. she is naturally deceitful in line with the nature of her role in the organisation, but forges real and honest relationships with friends and colleagues, where possible.
her chosen method of transportation is a suzuki hayabusa. on most friday nights, she can be found taking her colleagues out for drinks at a local police - affiliated bar not too far from the station. she rarely takes vacations - if she does, it's a cover for more work needing to be done within her role in the port mafia. when she meets with other mafia members that do not know her identity, she keeps her motorcycle helmet on and the visor down.
as an officer of the law, hisae is fair and just and works well with her colleagues. she is good - natured and kind, and works quickly and efficiently with other departments when necessary. with her status as an ability - user kept hidden, it is easy for her to source the information needed to close her cases, and does so in a quick and efficient manner whilst being smart enough not to draw unnecessary attention to herself. having only been an officer for 3 and a half years, she has climbed the ranks quickly and sits as a sergeant in charge of her own cross - section of the force, ironically focused on illegal activity within yokohama (avoiding the port mafia both on account of their status as a legal operations unit and that of the nature of her position with them).
within the port mafia and her role as a double agent, hisae's main responsibilities are directing attention away from any activity that does not operate under the port mafia's legal operations permit, collecting information on operations from rival groups and happenings within the city itself, and taking care of those who have defected - either waltzing into the police department's buildings to claim they possess information on the port mafia and any of their branches, or those that have been imprisoned and will later begin to tell tales. she eliminates those she can with the port mafia's signature method, and any individuals she cannot reach, she will find a solution that mostly aligns with the use of her ability to force their own hands, or the hands of someone else into killing them.
she is loyal to the port mafia but in her second - nature as an officer, her morals are upright and something she holds in high regard. lower - ranking members of the port mafia scarcely come across her unless there is a direct need, and she has the most contact with mori himself and his executives and is fed direct orders through either party. she meets with someone once a month to report on any findings and notes of interest (she always arranges a time suitable for herself, as to avoid suspicion) though otherwise she is largely left to her own devices as she understands what is expected, and in certain situations, what is needed from her. she does not take issue to killing as it is something she was exposed to within her first years in the port mafia's ranks even if indirectly, though she finds issue in deaths that are unnecessary and will chastise those of the lives she has to claim because they have overstepped the boundary and forced her hand.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
seiko's family originate from south korea --- but when the lineage split into sorcerers and non - sorcerers, those with cursed energy moved to japan in order to be closer to the source of this power, as beyond japan the level of cursed energy is low, and therefore curses to exorcise are far and few between. due to this the hwan family's sorcerers have changed their surname and exist between the two countries, taking sorcerers born into the family in the modern day and bringing them to japan to attend the kyoto college, deciding to present their japanese given and last names to unlink their ties to the hwan family technological business that remains based in seoul, korea and aid in their integration into japanese society.
seiko's birthname is HWAN SEONG-JAE, later taking the japanese surname USUI when they arrive in japan and are under the care of their aunt and uncle. their japanese given name, SEIKO originates from the feminine korean given name SEONG-JA in which characters from this name are found in the name SEIKO.
seiko comes from a family with sorcerers scattered within their bloodline, and exist halved between jujutsushi and non - jujutsushi as two pillars of society in both instances. in the modern day the usui family sorcerer's line extends from seiko's great - grandmother, to their aunt and uncle (twins, current heads of the jujutsushi side of the family), to themselves and their nephew alongside two cousins on their uncle's side. this is significantly less than in other time periods, but to counteract this the side in which handles jujutsu society affairs offer affiliation to their estate and so there are sorcerers working under their guidance.
seiko's father had extremely low cursed energy, and the same is said for their siblings. seiko has an older brother (32, set to soon inherit the hwan family technological business in korea that they own + manage) and two younger sisters (22, twins). their father pursued a normal life, but the family has existed in halves since sorcerers of the hwan family revealed themselves within the lineage. their siblings do not attend the colleges and remain in korea.
seiko is a nepo baby in both instances, and isn't sorry about it. a prodigy, even if not for natural progression for them to become the head of the family, seiko would be their first choice if they had considered to outsource at all.
the usui family is well enough known among jujutsu society as a cursed - tool wielding family, they have their own arsenal of tools at their residence and seiko was allowed to pick from the collection at fifteen. seiko's chosen cursed took is a red oak bō, connected at the centre by two adjoining blades that can be split into two separate weapons. it is stored and carried by being split and crossed across their back.
seiko's primary cursed technique is dubbed SLICE 'N' DICE and using their cursed tool, if they land a hit on their opponent with it, they can quickly slice or hit their opponent by envisioning the attack on the other's body. if the blade has been used, these will form as slashes. if the blade has not been used and seiko has instead used the blunt ends of their bō or their own hands, these will form as simple hits. to land further hits and cause further damage they must first land a hit and touch their opponent, and any one hit can be followed by up to four separate slashes/hits (if seiko slices/hits twice in one instance, this is stackable to eight further instances of damage).
if they wish to burden their opponent with more, they must generate the first point of contact again, making this a close - range technique. further damage combinations can also be stacked together for greater effect i.e if they want to remove a limb, three slashes would be combined depending on the strength and energy output of their opponent.
their secondary ability is CUTTING BLITZ wherein using their cursed energy, if they drive their cursed tool into an object (animate or inanimate - a curse, the floor) they can expel their cursed energy to create a powerful blast. enough to shake buildings and break windows, force opponents/allies back to create distance, kill enemies if graded weak enough. if the blast is powerful enough, they can create a small crater where it struck. this technique cannot be used consistently and has a recharge rate of around 4 minutes. skill type is close to medium range, dependent on the desired outcome.
seiko is good - natured and kind, a natural leader but prefers to take a backseat during missions during their school years. as an adult, they take an active role in shaping the next generation of jujutsu sorcerers and moves between the kyoto and tokyo colleges as a part - time teacher with focus mainly on cursed tools and how to wield them, as well as maintaining the arsenals at both schools as they are knowledgeable from the management of their family's personal arsenal of cursed tools.
when they aren't teaching, seiko keeps a firm foot in average society by coaching volleyball at their previous high school that they attended before attending kyoto tech. seiko is, however, a full - time sorcerer and takes on jobs when necessary.
post - canon, seiko has survived the events of the manga and works towards creating a better future in jujutsu society, which starts by reforming the root of it and those in charge with a few other notable sorcerers and sorcerer families in tow, vowing to do better and be better than what they were offered in their youth and the cards that were dealt to the current youth of jujutsu society.

⁽ ¹ ⁾ altair is the brightest star in the constellation of aquilais, and is the twelfth - brightest star in the night sky. name meaning, in arabic origin it means “ flying eagle. ”
⁽ ² ⁾ in chinese belief, altair is better known by its other names: qiān niú xīng (牵牛星 / 牽牛星) or niú láng xīng (牛郎星), translated as the cowherd star. these names allude to the love story, the cowherd and the weaver girl, in which niú láng and his two children are separated from respectively their wife and mother zhinu by the vastness of the milky way. they can only meet once a year, when magpies form a bridge to allow them to cross the milky way to each other.
within the origins of this lore, some vampires belong to a coven that houses a council born from the names of stars and their rankings of magnitude. vampires upon the council forego their original, human names, and take on the name of the star in which houses their seat. the corresponding number collates to rank and standing within the council, each has their own job from number one, to ninety-two. these are given based on importance and status level.

vampires exist within the human world, though most live within their own factions and away from human life. however some have integrated into modern human society.
higher ranking vampires from forty and below are immune to the effects of sunlight, those below twenty are immune to the common stake through the heart scenario.
all vampires possess an innate power/ability, though vampires within the stellar council can covet these to new heights within their corresponding levels.
seats one through twenty meet on a regular basis (as regular as you can call the quick passage of time, for them), other levels of seats meet within their own terms and conditions as freely as they would like, with some travelling to meet with the seats of the first twenty to discuss important matters.
as a human altair and their sister were turned into vampires by sirius, the first seat. two hundred years later, altair became the twelfth seat and their sister the fifth, vega. in a brief history, vega was later killed and a new fifth seat was appointed, whom altair does not get along with and has tried to dispose of several times and still refers to them as their human name despite holding the fifth seat for more than 300 years.
altair has acclimated to the modern world exceptionally well, one of their innate talents being that of blending in, able to retract sharp fingernails and disguise their pointed ears, giving the outward shape of a regular human being.
their job as the holder of the twelfth seat is to act as a warden over newly created vampires and to access whether they have been made in malice, carelessness, or by a strict design. not all vampires under this lore possess the ability to turn human beings into their own kind, and so it is altair's job to make sure this is not done with the wrong intentions. certain vampiric venom breeds faulty vampires. this does mean that they have a lot of vampires under their charge, regarded as fledglings. their job as the warden falls in line with the chinese mythos of her name, altair --- bridging the gap between life and death.
within the natural human world, altair runs a successful business, presenting outwardly as a hotel, that is truly grounds for the meeting of vampires and their human pledges. humans under her care are protected, and should things go awry thorough investigation is always conducted and fair judgement presided.
altair also acts as one of several judges of crimes against humans and vampires alike. vampires are under no strict instruction not to harm humans, but where the disruption of human life is considered catastrophic then matters must be dealt with swiftly.
altair's main ability is a form of hematomancy, the ability to read the past and present (and sometimes future) within the blood of others. for altair this manifests as needing both parties, themselves and the other person to engage in a give and take of blood to activate the ability. with regard to what the other party receives, their incision will heal remarkably quick as a result of taking in altair's blood (this is not the only method in which altair can access this ability, it can be done through more forceful means).
altair can also choose to share her own past, present and future insight with the other party, but this is not information that is available simply upon contact.
other abilities include fast injury regeneration, various forms of magic, daylight resistance, ability to turn humans into vampires, light manipulation.
while “ vampires ” are known in differing legend and mythos under different names, in chinese mythos altair is simply regarded as a jiāngshī --- an undead creature or reanimated corpse likely coined from the natural horror of the sight of dead bodies and partly derived from the practice of “ corpse - driving ” --- a habit involving the repatriation of the corpses of dead laborers across the then, xiang province --- now mordern day hunan.
in reference to point ⁽ ² ⁾ , when altair's sister passed she left behind two of her own fledglings that she had turned herself. with nobody to care for them, altair took them under her wing and regards them as their own children, they appear as grown adults and have their own business within the vampire and natural world.
altair was born within the ming dynasty era of china, their father central to the government within their province. their forgone human name was li ( 理 li . great judge ) liángyù ( 梁 liáng . meaning mast, bridge, elevation, beam . 愉 , yú . meaning pleasant, delightful . )
personality wise, altair is carefree and can often be referred to as a nuisance for other vampires in the lower levels. she can be quite unhelpful towards their need for information/help from them, but she takes her responsibilities very seriously.
whilst some vampires on the stellar council have integrated into modern society, a vast majority have refused to. most notably would be sirius, the first seat, who has made no effort to mingle with the modern world or its inhabitants. another is capella, the sixth seat, whom altair bothers more than most, the two of them having formed a close bond from altair's ascension as the twelfth seat. altair constantly battles to force capella into the modern world and showers them in trinkets that she claims they're missing out on.

originally born waseda kisen ⁽ 早稲田 輝千 ⁾, he is the only child of waseda sunao ⁽ 直生 ⁾ father, and chiemi ⁽ 千咲 ⁾ mother. chiemi passed moments after kisen's birth, leaving him in the care of his father. both were subsistence farmers (namely rice) and jujutsu sorcerers, and this continued in kisen's early life.
sunao held an obvious amount of resentment towards kisen in his grief within losing his wife to account for his existence. that being said, he doted on his son and made sure to teach him both values on jujutsu sorcery and swordsmanship. for the most part, kisen lived a moderately pleasant childhood, until age eight, when his technique awakened.
kisen shares the same cursed technique as his later descendant, getō suguru, curse manipulation through consumption of an exorcised cursed spirit.
the heian period in japan is notable in jujutsu society as having bred some of the most powerful curses and sorcerers of any age. in the modern day, uraume tells hakari that all should consider themselves lucky they weren't born one thousand years ago. it could be said, sorcerer's that existed within the heian period held more power in their little fingers than some modern day sorcerers do in their entire bodies.
as such, in this period it is entirely frowned upon and found near sacrilegious that kisen can not only consume curses, but can puppeteer them and weaponise them for his own gain. the fact that kisen exists alongside them, that they exist within him is something people find disgusting. because of this, once the technique has awakened, sorcerers and windows alike begin to turn their backs on a child that does not fully understand his own capabilities.
within their village, rumours spread. rumours that kisen must be half-curse and half-human, or perhaps a curse entirely, or that his mother lay with a curse, and bringing such a monster into the world inevitably cost her life as repentance. that he is a vengeful curse that intended to kill her. that he made a pact with a curse in order to gain such power. none of which are true, but that all hang a dark cloud over his head.
at age thirteen, one summer's night, sunao intends to kill his son, thinking that he will be sparing kisen a life of turned backs, harsh whispers, a life on the precarious edge of society, a life of being hunted for what he is. he gets as far as covering kisen's mouth and raising his blade, but he cannot go through with it and instead slashes his own throat, unable to live with himself for what he has tried to do.
out of his father's corpse rose a great and vengeful curse born from grief and resentment, both towards kisen and others who sought to make their lives a misery on account of kisen's technique. the mindless curse that it was, it would likely have killed kisen if not for the intervention of another sorcerer, ryū eijiro, who subdued sunao's curse. kisen asked for him not to exorcise it and instead completed the task himself, though still quite inexperienced. his father's curse was the fifteenth he consumed, and it remains one of his largest and most formidable.
eijiro was unable to ignore that kisen had ended up alone in the world, and found that he couldn't turn his back on him. he took kisen in and further trained him in the ways sunao should have done. he teaches him that should he want acceptance from the rest of their society, he would have to make himself smaller, present his manipulated curses as mere shikigami as opposed to what they truly are. despite this, he still bestows all wisdoms onto kisen and makes him strong, helps him to better his cursed technique and in kisen's younger years even helps him subdue curses to consume.
for a long time, kisen believes this is the only way in which he can exist peacefully within their society and he does so without much complaining, presents himself as a shikigami user, tries to slot himself into their society peacefully, wanting to be accepted. until eijiro is murdered when kisen is twenty. having already been outlawed, eijiro had been allowed to live on the assumption that he would try no further to harm jujutsu society. in training kisen, in making him stronger and in giving him the necessary tools and skills needed to cultivate his technique, this was seen as a direct attack. eijiro's death does not go unpunished, as kisen follows the assailants across four cities to enact his revenge, in the process shining a light on himself as he murders a lower-ranking noble sorcerer whose order it was to have eijiro killed.
it's here that he gives himself the surname hōrōsha, meaning wanderer. truly shedding the last of his ties to his old life, he intends to become someone new, and embraces the nature of society they present him with.
as an incredibly powerful sorcerer with an arsenal of highly overpowered curses, kisen is nearly untouchable. a skilled swordsman, light on his feet and highly intelligent and agile, he is a formidable opponent, as many later come to find out. jujutsu society still want him dead, still seek to erase his existence from their history and so he survives many attempts on his life. after enacting his revenge for eijiro's death, kisen turns his back on jujutsu society's lack of acceptance of him and instead turns to making a living doing what he does best, consuming curses and as a newly found skill, hunting.
as an outsider to jujutsu society, kisen uses bounty hunting as a way to get an inside look to how it all works and uses curse hunting to further expand his collection of manipulated curses. he takes jobs from those of high and low status (as long as he gets paid, he'll do almost anything) and it gives him a great insight of who he must look for to climb like a ladder until he gets to who he really wants to face, the ones who decided his life was forfeit, the ones who won't accept him, the ones that fear him.
much like getō suguru, kisen struggles with the taste of curses, thinks of it akin to eating a rotten corpse, he feels like a vulture feeding on the dead, despite the fact that curses were never truly alive. similar to getō's later character arc, kisen does find companionship in other sorcerers and is good-natured, he simply has been hardened by society and will not allow himself to be slighted, will raise his blade against the neck of any person who seeks to challenge him.
for kisen, his mind is never quiet, the curses never leave him as they exist within him, their mindless chatter gnaws at any silence he might be granted.
