Ash: happy new years from Chicago!
Ash: you want some snow or angry midwesterners before we get back from break?
Andy: Nahh, I'll take my chances with the crew up North here.
Andy: When are you coming back anyway?

“No one ever talks about how boring winter break is here. I miss Canada.”
“What’s so perfect about Canada? It’s just as cold as it is there right now.”

andy-barnes:
“I’ve just met you and I can tell someone is a little overdramatic.” Andy murmered, “Does the whining, foreign stranger have a name?” Andrea brushed off the grass without the hint of annoyance from her, as if she was brushing the sunlight off herself. She was far too relaxed in the afternoon sun to care about what he was doing.
“I tend to stretch the truth a little. But, just because I don’t have chocolate doesn’t mean you have to go.” She laughed, “I am told I provide a relatively good bit of conversation.” She leaned back lazily, stretching wildly.
“Overdramatic, or simply, an extreme realist?” A laugh followed the question. He was well aware how people perceived him– of course, that never stopped him. Why change for anyone? “Henri Lavea, foreign whiner, thank you.”
Conversation was never good for anything unless it was providing him with something. Of course, he had nothing else to do with his day. “I suppose that means you can follow me around while I figure out this disastrous fixture you call a school, hm? For conversations sake. Why are you here being a buzzing little thing anyway?” He held a limp hand out to her, waiting for her to take it and get up. “Why not head home for the holidays?”
“Extreme realism translated to dramatic action, Henry Lavea.” She giggled, “And how exactly do you plan of fixing this school? When so much of it is already so perfect?” She finally took his head after a few moments of waiting, just to make him annoyed for as long as possible.
Andy rolled her eyes at Henri, “Andrea Barnes, by the way. Most people call me Andy. And I’m not really one for home life, would rather be up here. Why aren’t you at home, Mr. I-Hate-It-Here?”
sung-me-a-lullaby:
She laughed, “Oh, god, I can’t even imagine how much cleaning i’d have to do if my parents came to visit. My room stays a mess, I swear. I feel so bad for my roommate. It’s not like I try, I just end up throwing basically my whole wardrobe on the floor.”
“I would need several cleaning charms at once.” Andy chuckled, “Do you have ‘the chair?’ I feel like all my clothing goes on the chair by my desk and I just never put anything away.”
alexanderwoodlawn:
“Oh yeah, there was plenty to do to piss of my dad. I also had my mom there and she was fucking amazing.” Alex smiled at the memory of her, trying to focus on that instead of literally everything else. “I’d’ve been so fucked if it hadn’t been for her.”
“I...understand.” Andy didn’t know what to say, “My mother wasn’t home often. But enough that when she was, it was always the best time. I still look forward to her letters she sends me.”

henrilavea:
“Mm, your shadow, you wicked woman.” A whining came through in his voice as the sun reached back over his body. He turned on his side and propped his head onto his hands– partially to face the girl and block the sun away, partially to use his free hand to sprinkle the dried grass over the girl’s body. “Suffering is subjective. I can appreciate the care I’m receiving but I still want to die.”
Henri brushed himself off and began to get up. “I suppose no human is inherently horrifying but you certainly are. A liar, are you? Hm.” He sighed. “Well, I suppose this conversation has met it’s end. Find me when you have offerings of chocolate. I’ll draw you or something.”

henrilavea:
If he was easily startled, the sudden voice would have made him jump– he turned over onto his back to stare up at the blonde girl from behind his sunglasses. “Always the wrong side of the bed if I have to wake, hm? Do me a favor, by the way,” he gave her a half hearted smile, “And stay right there. Fantastic sun blocker, your shadow. Giant, really.”
We’re not all bad here. He had heard that from so many other students over the course of his first day yesterday. “Humans are all inherently bad. Some simply less so. What chocolates we talkin’?” If he was going to interact with the girl, he may as well get something out of it.
“Giant, am I?” Andrea chuckled before laying back of the grass, ensuring the light would stretch over to him. “And yeah, unfortunately for you, fortunate for me, really. I get to wake up every day and know that you’re truly suffering for waking up in a nice bed, eating a good breakfast, and taking classes at the best wizarding school in North America.”
Scoffing at the stranger’s comments, she brushed them off easily, “You seem to not have met the right people. I digress, no human is inherently bad, but rather some are simply less good than others.” Andrea crossed her legs and stretched, yawning loudly, “Chocolates, did I say chocolates? Guess I was mistaken.”
sung-me-a-lullaby:
Paesyn laughed, “I thought about it, and then my mom sent me a howler and made me rethink my decision. I managed to get her to let me go after Christmas though. I’d rather be here for new years.”
“Mom didn’t even bother to think twice about it. They know how much I hate going home to....well, boring old Iowa.” Andy chuckled in return, “But at least you’ll get to be surrounded by friends for the New Year’s! I think my parents want to come up and visit, but I really don’t want to clean up for their visit.”
Unaware there was someone nearby, Henri rolled onto his stomach in the grass while speaking into his locket. On the other end of the country was his mother, most likely preparing to hear another one of his messages shout out at her from her locket– at least, Henri liked to imagine she was waiting on him. Waiting to hear what tragedy she was putting her son through.
“Update fifty-nine, day two. You left me in this bastard of a school where not even the grass is as green as the last one. I’d like a formal apology and a box of chocolates sent immediately, thanks.”
“Well, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, didn’t they?” Andrea had arrived to the scene of the extremely callous remarks, watching as the young man sarcastically spoke his final words into a small locket.
“Look, we’re not all bad here.” Andrea spoke quietly before falling into a sitting position next to him, “And if you want some chocolate, I’ve got loads in my room, I’d be willing to share if it would make you feel better.”
If anyone wants to plot, let me know!

corychesterfield:
“Still, I’d take that over my usual Christmas day any time.”
“So, are you staying here then? Or going home to a bad Christmas?”
corychesterfield:
“That sounds more entertaining than how my Christmases usually go.”
“Wish I could say it was...Wasn’t a fun time explaining to the fire department what happened. Or to my mom.”
“Okay, but is anyone actually going home for Christmas or just staying here? I told my parents I didn’t want to see my Aunt Susan get drunk and accidently set my dad’s hair on fire. Again.”
alexanderwoodlawn:
“Ah yes, sorry I totally ruined that for you. Kinda lost the match for the team.” In all honesty, Alex was pretty good at dancing. It was something that had been drilled into his head from the time he was a child. “Eh, I’ve been forced to do worse.”
“Don’t sweat it too much.” Andrea mentioned, able to keep up well with Alex, he was guiding them along fairly well, enough that Andy didn’t have to focus too much on where her feet were or were not going. “Hope nothing too much worse, although I suspect you were able to keep yourself fairly entertained at these events.”
alexanderwoodlawn:
Alex reached a hand out and held onto her other, leaving enough space between the two. “I had no choice, and you would’ve hated every single one of them.” He began to lead the two in a dance.
“You know for yourself, I’d much rather be out on the Quidditch pitch than in some stuffy ballroom.” Andrea let him lead, carefully trying to time her dancing with the music, “In any case, I am sorry you didn’t have a choice to go. It’s no way for any person to live.”

alexanderwoodlawn:
“Nah, the Wampus seeker, Savannah.” Alex held out his hand with a flourish, fixing his posture. “Ah, yes, the anti-party person. Lucky for you, my dad dragged me to all sorts of fancy MACUSA parties and my mom taught me to dance.”
“Ahh, I see.” Andrea took a hold of Alex’s hand tightly, headed towards the dance floor, “Never had it in me to go to all those fancy events, but luckily for you, I do know a dance move or two. I promise not to step on your feet.”
alexanderwoodlawn:
“Damn, I left my super hot date to come over here, past the punch bowl, and ask you to go get me punch. But I guess a dance will do.” Alex grinned. “What are you doing here, Barnes?”
“Your super hot date? So, is it your cousin or your ‘hot girlfriend; from Canada?” Andy winked playfully at her teammate before sighing dramatically, “You and I both know that I’m not one for partying. I was forced here by my roommates.”
