Diana shook her head. That was crazy to her but knew women were out there who hated cheesy movies. Not Di though. She was one who ate it up. World was too heavy to also be hating on movies. "Me too. It would be a shame to have to find another man to love if you didn't like the season. No, scratch that. I'm glad you know that November first is when Christmas decor comes out. Now that's what I call having a man." She joked but couldn't help it. "I don't gotta ask twice."
"Absolutely not. I know he's your fave. I'm just facilitating the meet." She nudged him as she waited for him to open the door to their room. "We're excited over bingo. Who've thought."
He smiled at his wife as she rambled a little bit. "My darling, I adore you. You know when we got married I would've done anything to make you happy. You also know I didn't grow up with huge celebrations so I was glad to give it a go." He knew his mami tried to make the holidays the best she could and he was grateful for that but he knew that his friends had bigger Christmases than he did.
He chuckled and shook his head. He got the door open and scooped her up and carried her over the threshold bridal style. As he walked into the door and looked around he was in awe. This was the fanciest room he could afford. It was a penthouse with a balcony. Upon walking in you had the restroom to your right. The bed was straight ahead and beyond the bed was a couch and sitting area and beyond that was a wall of windows with a balcony on the other side. "What do you think, my love?"
"No room for grinches on this boat. You pay a shit ton of money to just be miserable. That's what I call being a payaso. I don't think we could be friends if one of us didn't get spirited during the season. Can you imagine husband's who don't watch hallmark movies with their wives at all? Or think they're all the same movie?" She playfully made a cross and grinned.
"Nothing is better than yours. That's not even a question. But I will be stuffing my face. If we see your hallmark boyfriend I will get you in that line for an autograph." She liked that she had a confident husband who had movie boyfriends just like she did. "I know first thing is room but then what? There's bingo."
He chuckled at the thought. "I can imagine that. But I know there are also women out there who don't like Hallmark movies so there's someone out there for everyone." He shrugged. "I'm glad that we both love the season, would be tough if one of us didn't." He fully believed in the magic of Christmas.
"We can definitely give their sweets a try." He smiled and shook his head at the mention of his crush. "You're only going to hop in the line because you want to meet him." He nodded. "First, the room. Then we can do bingo or anything else you want to do."
Di's favorite time of year was fast approaching. Never did she dream of getting tickets to the hallmark holiday cruise. It was always a someday but schedules never aligned and older gen always snatched those tickets up. She didn't blame them. But her husband had just near broke his back to make this happen. And she loved him. Being at the snack table with her overnight bag slung over her shoulder she heard that loveable voice.
"More than, rey! It's so magical. We gotta get a picture with the banner. Wanna try this croissant thing?" She had made a beeline with him in tow to the snack table.
He could tell how excited his wife was about the cruise and that made it all worth it. The sneaking to book the tickets and make sure that his wife would have an amazing surprise was something he would never get over. He had another surprise for her, but they wouldn't see that until they got to their room. He got them one of the best rooms on the boat. No expense was spared on this trip.
"It's literally like walking into one of their Christmas movies. The twinkle lights and everything just makes it so magical. If you weren't in the Christmas spirit you would be by the time you get off the boat." He nodded his head. "I would be glad to try that. Do you think it will be as good or better than mine?"
Andy had been excitedly waiting for this cruise. He had bought the tickets as soon as they came available. His wife deserved a getaway and what better than going on a cruise around the Greek isles besides it being a Hallmark holiday cruise. He knew those were some of his wife's favorite things.
"Are you ready to get on the boat, princesa?" He smiled at her as they approached the pier.

"I'm no wimp, cariño. That's why I kept on trucking. When have you ever seen me quit? Not even during labor did I quit like a loser." She took a seat on the picnic cloth and clapped her hands. "The spread looks good." She went for the chocolate covered strawberries first. She had no rhyme or reason why, but she liked them. "When did you have time to do this?" She grabbed his face and gave him a good smooch. "I love you."
"Oh I would never call you a wimp or a quitter. I know you are stronger than I am without a doubt. But I also want today to be fun and not be painful." He smiled at her lovingly. "I tried to make sure that I prepared your favorite foods." He smiled watching her eat the chocolate covered strawberry. He knew she would be excited by them. "I woke up very early and snuck out of bed to make this treat for you." He happily returned her kiss. "I love you too."
Oh, thank god, she was able to sit down. She saw the light at the end of the horizon. "Yes, please." She said, exasperated as she drank the last bit of water. "I'm starving. We can continue on after lunch. I don't think I have enough steam to do before food. Give my feet a rest. How do you not get tired?"
"Of course we can stop. Why didn't you tell me I was going too far?" He put the backpack down and pulled out the blanket and got the picnic set up. "I brought your favorite things." And he pulled out a couple of bottles of water. "And some more water, of course." He pressed a kiss to her lips. "I love you, darling."
"Ay baby, that's not my most flattering picture. I don't know why you like it. I look so weird, and my hair is all poof." Diana smiled in spite of her faux annoyance at the picture he chose as his lockscreen. "What if it's a two in one. I pose with the deer? Have my snow white moment."
"Do you mean that? No checking phones or in? Just us time? A date in the woods? Don't get me lost.." she playfully smirked and giggled.
He had packed their picnic lunch and he was holding her hand as they walked the path that ran parallel to a little stream. "You doing okay? Do you want to keep going?" He didn't want to walk too far that they got tired and couldn't get back to the house by nightfall. He loved moments like this when he got to take his wife on little getaways just the two of them. He knew how important it was for their kids that they were on a solid ground.
Diana tip toed over once he called her and gave him a wide-eyed expression. The excitable tone of his voice made her think he had seen an animal. They didn't really see them back in the city unless they counted fishes and manta rays. Still, she stood beside him as her hands laid on his lower waist and craned her neck to see out the window. "Oh my gosh! Look at that beautiful sight." She brought his phone out from his back pocket and took a picture. "This is gonna be your lockscreen." She kissed his shoulder and smiled.
"Is it bad that I actually looked forward to not having to clock into mom and dad role?"
He smiled at his wife. "But if the deer is my lock screen then I have to replace one of my favorite ever photos of you." His face turned playfully sad. He turned around and wrapped his arms around her. "I love you, my darling."
He tilted his head. "Okay, how about this, after breakfast we will run off and just be the two of us and we'll escape from the mama and papa roles again. Okay?"
Andy looked out the window as he was making breakfast and saw a doe and her fawn. "Babe! Come look!" He said it in a lower tone not wanting to be too loud in case the deer could hear him. He loved moments like this when they were out in the country. They missed things like this in the city or at the beach.
He finished making breakfast and then text their oldest son who was staying with the kids in the cabin next door. "The kids should be here soon."

Diana was touched, truly. She had hoped he hadn't forgotten and to know he hadn't made her heart soar. "Honestly. I love the water but am bored with it. Let's go to the mountains and hike. Let's see if I can climb up those steep mountains on my own this time. You can rock climb too. I think it's a great idea. Let's take the kids but give them a separate cabin. Far away. Ro can meet the siblings and see if his head doesn't explode. Plus, I think baby girl needs to be socialized. It'll be his test." She laughed.
Her eyes rolled as she sighed. "It went fine. But, we found out he hasn't celebrated his birthday since he was thirteen. We need to fix that. There's something else he isn't telling us. But gael approved and looks like he likes him."
"Then consider it booked, my darling. I think the mountains will be a fun little escape. Nice and quiet. I know you'll be able to climb the mountains without a problem." He couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his mouth at the thought of their oldest son bunking with all his siblings. "We might need to take someone else along, a parent or a sibling. The kids might be too much for him by himself." And if they take an extra family member it won't be too much for just their son who barely knew his siblings.
Andy's eyes got wide. "Why thirteen? That seems so young. We will make sure he feels the love on his birthday. We have been wanting to celebrate his birthday with him for 16 years. I'm so glad Gael liked him. That's so important. So you didn't get the feeling like he felt like he was being replaced?"
There was something Ro wasn't saying and that alone made Diana's ears perk up like a satellite. "Mhmm. We'll talk later. Gael, homework time. Then play time." Gael grumbled and waved at ro. She was about to say something else when her husband called her.
She smiled at him and made a one moment gesture. Walking over to Andy, she smiled and clapped her hands. "Si, mi vida what can I help you with?"
Andy pulled her into the pantry. "Don't think I've forgotten about our upcoming anniversary. Do you want to do something different this year? What if we head to the mountains? We can hike the mountains and walk around the lakes. Rent a secluded cabin just the two of us." He tilted his head. "I know with Ro joining the gang it's not the best time to go on a trip. Either we leave them here with family or we take them with us and the kids get their own cabin. Nothing like tossing Ro into the family by entrusting him over night with all of his younger siblings."
He pressed a kiss quick to her lips. "So how did our boys do? From what I saw it went okay."
"Sometimes all you need are the people in your circle. Not all about presents. But, since you're here now. We'll make it a point to have some special food. Whatever you like." Di said as she smiled and felt pride over their youngest being such a welcoming boy.
Diana nodded and scrunched her nose. "Yup, that's what happens when I have some. I don't, but in the times I did, it was awful."
He smiled at her trying not to let the sadness play on his face too long. His mami didn't need to know in this moment that his childhood wasn't always sunshine and rainbows, plus he didn't want to get into the details around his little brother. "Thank you, I appreciate that."
He chuckled and shook his head. "I can't believe that we have the same kind of reaction."
Andy stepped back into the kitchen after doing a quick inventory. "Baby, can I talk to you for a minute?"
❛❛I love that im a Christmas baby! I get my day, even if its a holiday. I don't feel like im missing out. They make it special. Do you like being an August baby? You're in the hot!❜❜ he grinned now being up high in his daddy's arms. ❛❛um do you get presents?❜❜
Gael hummed and then jerked his head over. ❛❛You are allergic to mangoes and shrimp, like my mami! Or our Mami! What do you get sicky?❜❜
Ro shrugged his shoulders. "I don't mind the hot. But I think that comes with being a summer baby." He shrugged his shoulders. "Sadly, I haven't gotten presents for my past few birthdays. I have only had my daughter to celebrate with." He didn't say that to make anyone feel bad, he was just being honest.
"After just a bite, I feel a little itchy, but if I eat more than that I get really sick. What is your favorite food?"
"A Christmas baby? How cool! Do you like being a Christmas baby?" Ro was genuinely interested. His baby could be considered a Christmas baby but she was too young to really understand what that meant. He'd have to pick his mom's brain later on how to make sure his girl felt special on her birthday.
Andy situated his son on his hip as they both looked at Ro. He was so glad that the boys were getting to know each other. He hoped it was the start of a long friendship between them. Ro shrugged. "I could eat. I'm not super picky. Just can't eat shrimp mangoes. And I usually steer clear of most fish dishes. Oh and cheese."

Ro smiled at him. "I get losing a partner." He could relate because his partner had left him. Even if it was completely different. "My birthday is August 7, when is yours?"
Andy nodded his head. "Of course, mijo." He scooped his son up as though he weighed nothing and gave him a huge hug. As he hugged Gael he looked at Ro, "You will see that we are an affectionate family." Andy pressed a kiss to his younger son's head and whispered that he loved him more.
Gael nodded and smiled. ❛❛okay, Papa. Gracias. ❜❜ that's all he needed to know and hummed. He took a look at his brother and back at his dad. ❛❛Porque es mucha responabilidad para mi. No, me gusta.❜❜
❛❛te ayudo. No te preocupes.❜❜ he smiled and went to tap his fingers against the counter. Gael huffed softly and moved his feet. ❛❛Papi?❜❜
Andy looked at Rogelio. "In case you missed that, he wanted to make sure you weren't going to replace his twin brother. He sadly didn't make it. His name was Angelo." It still broke Andy's heart to talk about the son they lost, but he felt Ro deserved to know there was another brother since it was a huge part of their family dynamic.
"Gracias, hermano." He hoped the younger boy wouldn't mind being called a brother by him. Andy tilted his head, looking at the younger of his sons. "¿Si mijo? ¿Que paso?"
