The news of my uncle being detained by 🧊 has sent me spiraling into doomscrolling across different social media platforms, thinking of the worst-case scenarios. It’s really not healthy for me or my mental state.

As for your second question, I don’t particularly appreciate it. Immigration isn’t as simple as “why didn’t he just become legal?”. There isn’t an application undocumented people can simply fill out after living here for a certain number of years. If that was the case he would have done so years ago. Your question maybe be coming from genuine curiosity but while you are curious I don’t need to get into all the “why’s” and the “how’s” on here.

He has lived in the US since he was about 19 years old. 30 years being in the US and he got detained on his way to work. I’m very angry and extremely upset right now. My uncle - who comes over and cooks bbq for my family, who gives me the tightest hugs when I see him, who always slipped me a $20 when I was a kid, who I saw every fucking day of my childhood, who lived with us, who would rock me to sleep as a baby, who calls me “his babygirl”. He’s going to get deported back to Mexico and I won’t get to see him for a long time. So. To those of you who voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 election; you did this. These gestapo motherfuckers have detained moms, dads, children, even US citizens , have terrorized my community, have killed my people. This is on you.
