Paula Modersohn-Becker
Elizabeth with Hens Under an Apple Tree. 1902
roman numerals by Niels Oesingmann.
'Trodden Weed', a self-portrait by Andrew Wyeth. The boots once belonged to Howard Pyle, who taught/mentored Andrew's father N.C. Wyeth. Amazing legacy!

I find myself increasingly drawn to contemporary realism, and my own work is beginning to reflect that too. I just ordered a 7.5 hour documentary dvd in which David Kassan paints this portrait of Jaece Lutece. Can't wait to learn from it.
Another gorgeous one by Isabelle Arsenault.
I really love this woman's work. Jane, the fox, and me is currently my favourite book of the year... it meets my love of graphic novels, adolescent fiction, and Jane Eyre.Â
one of my most favourite paintings. I remember first seeing it about 10 years ago in an illustration annual. I just discovered it was created by Richard Thompson, who is also the maker of the Cul de Sac comics.Â

Hans Krell (German c. 1490 - c.1586), Princess Emilia of Saxony (1516-1591), c. 1531. Oil on panel, 31.5 x 25.9 cm (12.4 x 10.2 in).
I love this!
Shaun Tan created a new book: Rules of Summer... a beautifully simple yet surreal story of two brothers.Â
Besides loving the book, I was interested to hear and see Shaun chat about the themes and processes in his work in the videos section of the site. Fascinating!
A few great illustrations by Vitali P. Konstantinov, for Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. I really enjoy that cupid-baby.
Shelf by Nocolas de Staël
Modigliani ,(1918).
