Lyanna had been picking up trash from the ADP party for ten minutes before a male voice interrupted her actions, she jumped by reflex and turned around, surprised. “So, you got stuck doing this too?” The redhead awkwardly smiled, shaking her head. “Actually I volunteered, guess I’m a sucker for trying to help out. Plus, boys are messy.” She teased, knowing the guy was indeed a member of the house.

despite the minor hangover blazing away in his head, tristen had to make an appearance.  he had to at least seem to be a good citizen so he strolled out of the house early that morning to clean up the front lawn, bin bag and litter picker in hand. “well that’s news to me darling” he said, sweet and smiling. “its sweet of you but you really shouldn’t have to. we threw the party, we should clean it up” he added ever the gracious gentleman.

“yeah, i’m sure you really think that.”

“of course i do” he lied his (apparently) earnest smile unfaltering.

“cowboy?”

“wow so funny”

“yeah, i know, you think the best of me. you should.”

“anyone would izzy, you’re a great girl”

Leia laughed graciously as he complimented her, but moved on with ease. “Well, maybe you’ll have to throw me my own party,” she said with a wink.

“i could dedicate new years eve to you?” he suggested with a laugh “get up on table with a boombox and declare my undying love to you, or is that too subtle?”

amelie rolled her eyes, wondering if she should even bother answering. “that’s non of your business, really,” she sipped her water, “i don’t really remember much, anyways. oh! i saw kacie and lucas. oh! and kat. i don’t think anyone died.” 

“none of my business? okay no need to be so rude” he sighed sitting back in his chair. she could see through the golden facade he put up, there was really little need to keep it up but others where here so he persisted. “i thought you said it was none of my business, eh?”

“You’re not wrong,” Avery said with a small laugh as he looked over at Tristen and smiled slightly. He knew that they haven’t talked in forever and he didn’t want things to be like that anymore. So– He was trying. He was trying to change the fact that they have ignored each other for the longest time. “There’s a buffet style cafe open for a Christmas dinner for college students if you want to go to that. It’s god pretty decent food.” 

“am i ever?” he laughed. yes, yes he could be. frequently. he would be more likely to admit it than anyone else would, after all to them he was golden but he could see the paint fading. he made mistakes, he could confess to that. especially when one was in front of him. thinking he and avery could go back to normal. the fact that he couldn’t remember last the spoke could attest to that folly. “yeah that sounds great, i love me some turkey” 

“whatever you have to tell yourself.”

“you?” she said with an eye roll, “didn’t anyone ever tell you playing dumb isn’t cute?”

“i think there’s a fine line between ‘class’ and cowboy.”

“of myself, no.” she said simply, implying what she thought of the other.

“just because you’re using ‘darling’…” she said with a small smile.

“I would say it was good until too much alcohol got involved.” She said resting her head in her hand.

“what’s with this southern drawl?” she asked, surprised, sure she hadn’t spent much time with the boy but she was confused as to his accent.
