Ancient Terrors

Oh. Great. Inwardly, Madison wanted to scream and not out of excitement. Underground Titans tended to cause the most damage. Hopefully, this Megalon wasn’t located underneath an incredibly populated area, but the girl doubted that. The name ‘Seatopian’ implied a coastal location, and some of the world’s most populous locations were by the ocean. 

On top of that, aliens apparently enjoyed mind-controlling the Titans of Earth in the past. And now Titans were active again. Jesus, if her mother figured out that information…

Do not tell any other humans about aliens mind-controlling our Titans, okay? Keep that between us. 

 “Err... not like ah could if ah want’d to?” Gigan tilts his head. “So far, yer th’ only one who seems t’understand wha’ I’m sayin’, Maddie. Ev’ryone else jus’ seems t’be hearin’ me screamin’ my head off! But, y’know, works a treat fer scarin’ ‘em off!” he’d allow himself a short chuckle. “Well, anyhows...”

I guess I didn’t ask for your name ‘cause I already knew it, she replied. Not only because she could read his mind. He literally shouted out his name to the heavens along with his title when he first appeared on Earth. It was incredibly ridiculous, like a WWE match her father might have put on in the background when she was six years old. 

You definitely are not allowed to call me ‘lil humie.’ What kind of unoriginal nickname was ‘humie’ anyways? My name is Madison. 

Although the info on aliens modifying Titans opened up new doors in her head. Humans were not the only one possibly thinking of Titans as a weapon of war, then. That definitely concerned her. The girl thought back to all those decades of humanity trying to find intelligent life in the universe. For once, she hoped that they would never answer back. 

 “Madison, ey? I like it! An’ if I feel like it’s too long, ah can jus’ say ‘Maddie’! I dig it!” Gigan snickers as his teeth show through his cackled laughter. “Oh... yea’, guess I’ve already said it a couple’a times, haven’ I?” he says, now laughing a bit more sheepishly. “But uh, yea’, dem’s be the beans spilled, as ‘dey say! Aliens out ‘dere usin’ us Titans as ‘deir lil’ science fair experiments all tha’ time.”

Serizawa watched on, feeling a sense of dread bought upon by the other scientist’s words. This creation was man-made, a titan that can kill all the rest simply by suffocating them from the inside. How could they stop a creature birthed by a weapon with unknown properties? Ishiro didn’t have time to think as he pulled his head up focusing on the fight.               A gurgling sound could be heard as the oxygen was being sucked out of Gojira. His head pulled back while white foam escaped the corner of his lips.                “Ready the maser cannons.” Ishiro commanded, people started to scramble onto the weapon stations. Two cannons, one on each wing came to life, shifting their aim towards the two clashing monsters.                 “Fire.”                Suddenly,  blue energy beams shot out of the Argo, hitting Destoroyah right in the face in an attempt to get him to focus on the jet and give Gojira a fighting chance.

The sound of the laser cannons priming was enough to get the devilish monster’s attention, but by the time he looked over it was too late, as the lasers fired out and blasted Destoroyah straight in the face, as he’d roar in agony, holding a charred hole in his head. But even with a clean shot through this being’s cranium, it did not seem to be enough, as he’d just bellow out a loud cry of anguish, and then spread its wings to fly out of the ocean...

And then it took off. Not in the direction of the Argo, but away from the scene, leaving the Argo and Gojira completely. Was it leaving to recuperate? Or was it merely done with its job? No one would be able to ask why, though, as all of a sudden, a voice rang out from all around the humans and Gojira. It spoke in perfect, if not warped English, and it was speaking straight to Serizawa’s mind;

The image surrounding Gigan’s thoughts over his friend, Megalon, honestly surprised her. Although nothing should have shocked her anymore. A bug with metal drills for hands but that walked bipedal like a man?! What kind of civilization created something like Megalon? Because there seemed to be no way that it actually evolved like that naturally. 

Is there just a planet out there that likes creating Titans? Madison suddenly asked Gigan in his own mind. Because an anthropomorphic rhinoceros beetle with drill hands seems incredibly artificial. 

Perhaps this Megalon and Gigan originated from the same place. The cybernetic and mechanical implants looked similar, after all, even if the base of their species looked very different. Perhaps some additional reptilian details added into their composition as well. 

 “Eh?” Gigan asks as Madison poses her question. “Weeeeell-- not ‘xactly ‘creatin’ ‘ ‘em, but ‘dere are a lot o’ us big boys out ‘dere.” pointing a claw up towards the sky, gesturing towards the great beyond of space. “Some o’ us jus’ get found by ‘dese crazy alien guys, an’ they decide t’just plaster all o’ ‘dis tech unto us! Not tha’ me an’ my bro are complainin’!”

Madison chuckled a little bit more. Gigan’s accent was ridiculous, and it made some of the ridiculous shit he spewed even funnier. How was it possible for a space chicken to sound like he came from the rough side of Boston? Or possibly like someone from the Bronx. 

It’s weird, yeah. I mean, I feel like a lot of Titans would either never come back out of fear of having it happen again or would only come back for the sake of revenge. From the way Gigan spoke, he hardly seemed like Alpha material so Madison had guessed the former reason. I appreciate the effort not to destroy the city at least. 

 “Ey, dun’ mention it. Tho’ I’ll say it ‘gain, y’ever wonder why we keep smashin’ ‘em up? ‘Cause ‘dey’s just too damn tight-packed t’gether!” Gigan huffs. Was he... seriously just striking up a casual conversation with this human now? And to make matters worse, he was enjoying it? Knowing that she could just fry his brain at any moment? Well, at least she hadn’t... yet.

Madison burst into laughter the moment he squealed in fear, nevermind the rest of his explanations, his absurd opinions on what human cities should have been, or his desperate need to figure out how she fried his mind like an egg over-easy. No, no, seeing a giant Titan cowering the moment she asked what was going on proved too precious to get over right away.

Isn’t it obvious? she responded in his mind, snorting still. I’m psychic? Likely because of overexposure to Titan radiation in Boston. Did you really come back just to ask me the question? 

That almost made everything else even funnier. This obvious solution presented everywhere in human pop-culture ended up confusing a creature that was obviously incredibly advanced. He had to have been in order to be such a well-rounded cyborg chicken-thing. 

 “Ey, dun’ gimme any o’ that fuckin’ sass, I’ve never eva’ met ‘umies until now.” Gigan frowned as he stood in the middle of the park, staring Madison down. “I didn’ know some o’ them were frickin’ psychics!” he’d soon squat down a bit to get a bit of a closer look at Madison.

“Enough!” Ghidorah snapped as his underling started to grow more and more frantic. Just thinking about the events brought a great deal of shame and anger to him. He was the king of the cosmos! Conqueror of worlds! And here he was licking his wounds from a creature that couldn’t even travel through space. Though perhaps that’s what made Godzilla so unique. It made him worthy enough to be considered a true threat and enemy to his status.

“Not so fast, Gigan. I know you’re eager and such…” And who could blame him? Ghidorah had been the same way upon being freed from his icy prison. “…But we must plan accordingly. As of right now, after my defeat, I know what we must focus on. Godzilla is not it.” As much as he hated to admit that.

“It’s the humans. More specifically, the ones that call themselves…Monarch. They played a large hand in aiding Godzilla, unlike the majority of the apes who just scream and run. They shall be our main concern for now.”

 “Oh bein’ eager is far from cuttin’ it Boss! Ah’m pos’tively thrilled wit’ the idea o’ gettin’ back at ‘dese apes!” Gigan said with his sadistic glee, clashing his sickle-arms together as he’d grin, but when he was told to focus more on the ones called Monarch, he was about to ask why, but it became clear when his master said that they worked on assisting Godzilla.

 “Wai’ what?! Humies are assisstin’ Godzilla?! An’ no wonda’ he’s so thicc from last time ah saw ‘im!” he commented. He had flown over him on an altitude where he wouldn’t be able to see him, but he had seen Godzilla alright. “So wha’ now ‘den? How’s we gonna deal with--”

“The humans? Oh please, Gigan. It’ll be a landslide~” a sudden feminine voice said, seemingly out of nowhere, before from the floor grew an immense, clearly alienoid woman who’s suit was made by many shades of red, violet and yellow, her suit having this ‘flowy’ feel to i, as if it was alive. Her head being adorned by a crown with six eye-slits which had a bright yellow glow from behind them. She immediately went for Ghidorah, her voice reduced to a near purring coo. “Aaw, what’s the matter my king~?” she’d ask him sweetly, almost sickeningly so.

The moment that familiar voice was in his mind, the most inhumanly girlish shriek exited Gigan’s mind, but when he finally spotted Madison down below he’d merely frown. “D-Dun’ fuckin’ scare me like that ya lil’ twat!” he snarled down at her, sighing. “I’m TRYIN’ to not start destroyin’ stuff, can’t ya at leas’ gimme a LIL’ bit o’ credit an’ NOT gimme a short-circuit?!”

Finally, however, he had managed to get into the more open park area that Madison was close to, sighing in relief as he’d breathe out, groaning a bit. “An’ how do ya humans go about an’ think when ya make yer cities?! Y’wanna know why we keep ruinin’ them when we show up? Cause ya build ‘em so tight, y’think yer tryin’ to give us claustrophobia!”

His wounds were not normal “wounds”. They were instead similar to holes in his body, crawling and creeping with hundreds, thousands, even tens of thousands of crustacean-like life-forms, amassing into the giant monstrosity standing before Serizawa and Gojira, and as quickly as this fact became relevant, the wounds began to close up as more and more creatures assimilated and began healing the monster’s injuries.

And then another blue light lit up the battlefield as another nuclear flame burst out of Gojira, but Destoroyah would respond with ducking its head out of the way, rushing right for Gojira and tackling into his chest, maws opening...

 “Suffocate...”

With those words, Destoroyah sank his jaws into Gojira’s flesh, blood splattering upon his teeth as he’d gnaw himself into place, ripping open a wound in Gojira’s body. Then, all of a sudden, the same white foam from before began to gush out of the wound and around Destoroyah’s mouth, as Gojira’s gurgling roars worsened. A pilot, seemingly recognizing this, gasped out;

“Thankfully not.” He grumbled in response. The firm pat was enough to strike up a bit of pain but Ghidorah choose to ignore it. His body still needed time to heal. The false king traveled to the deepest part of the cavern, which also held the largest amount of room for the two. Carefully did he nestle himself down.

“Regaining my strength is more accurate. I’ve done considerable damage already to this world but Godzilla got in the way of a full conversion.” He snarled at the thought of that overgrown lizard. “I’ve…been in this cave system recovering for quite some time now because of it.” It hurt to admit that. Not only did his ego take a hit but so did his pride.

“I’m glad you’ve finally arrived, Gigan.” The fact that he was now here to aid him boosted his confidence. Ghidorah would be back on his feet and ready to tear Godzilla’s head clean off this time. “We have a lot to discuss as I’ve learned much during my time here.”

Gigan seemed to be somewhat concerned about Ghidorah’s acting, but when he realized what had been happening, he suddenly seemed to grow... fearful? “W-W-Wait... w-whadd’ya mean, ‘go’ in th’ way’? Go’ in th’ way of you? Impossible! Yer our king, Ghids! Y’can’t be beaten!” he was getting more and more frantic by the moment, but he managed to calm him down.

A heavy sigh came from the lumbering three-headed dragon. He’d been resting in this cave for what felt like months now! It probably was given that grass and moss had started to form around certain parts of his body. It was disgusting in all honesty but Ghidorah only had so much energy right now. He needed to conserve. Even if it meant letting the plant life here overtake his form for a while.

His mind wandered back to that painful defeat at the hands of Godzilla. There had been close calls between each other throughout human history. But this one? This one had been the absolute worst. He considered himself lucky to have made it.

All three heads shot up in alarm as he heard the call. Could it be? No…

With what energy he had, Ghidorah pushed himself up and clambered his way out of the cavern. Golden eyes squinted as the sun glared into his orbs. Once it all cleared, Gigan’s form was visible in front of him. A cackle parted from the dragon’s as he moved forward.

“Gigan! It’s about time you arrived.” His gaze shifted around before ushering the cybernetic monster to follow. “Into the cave with me. Their eyes are everywhere.”

After Gigan had shouted out his arrival, he’d wait a few moments to look around. “Eh, he ain’ ‘ere? Ah well, guess ah’ll look ‘round else--” but then he’d see the three serpentine heads slithering out of a nearby cavern, and his beak split into a wide smile. “Boss-man! Oh ah knew ye’d be ‘ere, preparin’ ta tear up ‘da place with me!” he’d exclaim, before being ushered inside.
