Elena was still trying to adjust to her new vampire life style, having to feed when she got hungry and feeling her emotions ten times as much but the important thing was that she was still herself. Usually she had Caroline, Stefan or even Damon to talk to but right now she didn’t have them. The two brothers had moved on from her and she would give them that as much as it killed her to stay away and she hadn’t seen Caroline. It was a nice sunny day, tank top and shorts Elena walked to the park. It was better than the last time when she woke up feeling tired and confused. She sat down admiring all of her surroundings and smiled. And then she realized somebody was approaching her and before she knew it they were standing right in front of her. “Hi there, do we know each other?”

lizzie  had  spotted  her  auntie  elena  just  as  she  was  leaving  the  cosy  corner  ,  milkshake  in  hand  .  she  didn’t  want  to  raise  her  hopes  too  high  ---  after  all  ,  both  her  uncle  and  mother  were  from  an  earlier  point  in  their  lives  ,  it  was  probably  the  same  for  elena  .  still  ,  she  couldn’t  just  leave  it  .  the  past  few  weeks  have  been  getting  harder  for  the  siphoner  .  she  hates  the  fact  that  nobody is  from  her  time  ,  they  don’t  share  the  same  memories  and  it’s   getting  to  be  way  too  much  for  her  to  handle  .  she  didn’t  even  have  josie  .  lizzie  sighed  when  her  suspicions  were  confirmed  by  elena  ,  who  had  no  idea  who  she  was  .  “  oh  ,  you  don’t  remember  me  ,  wonderful  .  i’m  lizzie  ,  caroline  and  alaric’s  daughter  .  your  niece  .  this  place  seems  to  really  enjoy  making  me  miserable  .  ”

freddie enjoyed the silence, enjoyed just looking at effy. breathing her in, enjoying her presence. he knew that she was still trying to wrap her head around him being here, and he wanted to give her the space to come to terms with it. however, it was apparent that effy wouldn’t be okay with freddie leaving, so he’d just be sat watching her, occasionally reaching out run a hand over her arm or press a soft kiss to her forehead. 

he was dozing on the couch when he heard effy speak up, sitting up and looking over at her with a soft smile on his face. as much as he’d tried to explain to himself, or to effy, it was something impossible. if freddie believed in god, then maybe he’d believe that he had sent freddie back to the love of his life. there was no earthly explanation. “i don’t know.” he replied softly, shrugging his shoulders. “i just woke up, here. like the last ten years had never even happened. i remember everything going black, and then waking up. i only realised i was actually dead when i saw the date and looked up my name on the internet.” he didn’t care how it had happened, it just mattered that he was here now. he was alive, and they were together. “tell me what you’re thinking.” he reached out for her hand, linking their fingers together.

things  felt  different  now  .  they  weren’t  teenagers  anymore  and  effy  had  been  through  a  lot  since  freddie  died  .  it  was  always  one  thing  after  another  ---  she  never  had  a  chance  to  breathe  .  she  still  couldn’t  find  the  words  to  describe  what  she  was  thinking  .  if  resurrection  really  was  true  and  there  was  a  god  ,  effy  didn’t  know  what  she  had  done  to  deserve  something  so  fundamentally  beautiful  .  he  was  here  ,  right  in  front  of  her  in  the  flesh  and  he  didn’t  want  to  leave  .  how  could  this  be  real  ,  when  was  she  ever  this  fortunate  ?  

“  so  for  you  ,  it’s  like  it  all  just  happened  .  fuck  ,  freddie  .  that’s  insane  .  ”  he  never  had  the  chance  to  grow  like  the  others  did  ,  to  become  a  proper  adult  and  build  a  life  .  she  wished  that  they  could  have  done  that  together  ,  but  he  was  here  now  .  effy  still  blamed  herself  for  his  death  ,  for  how  foster  was  obsessed  with  her  and  would  stop  at  nothing  to  have  her  .  she  would  be  forever  grateful  to  cook  for  avenging  freddie  even  if  the  whole  thing  was  fucked  up  .  “  i’m  thinking  that  i’m  just  happy  you’re  with  me  .  that  you’re  here  now  and  you’re  safe  .  ”

lizzie  had  been  in  an  awful  mood  .  it  seemed  that  everyone  that  she  knew  was  from  a  previous  point  in  their  life  and  it  was  infuriating  that  the  siphoner  had  no  one  to  turn  to  .  initially  ,  she’d  been  calm  and  utilized  her  many  coping  mechanisms  ,  much  healthier  ones  at  that  .  but  as  time  dragged  on  ,  a  feeling  of  complete  helplessness  &  despair  rattled  her  bones  .

“  i’m  not  going  to  hit  any  humans  !  i  just  feel  like  i’m  losing  my  shit  over  here  .  when  will  all  of  this  just  go  away  ?  i’m  fed  up  .  ”

“  did  you  listen  to  anything  that  i  just  said  ?  i  want  to  be  alone  right  now  .  no  one  around  here  remembers  me  or  gives  a  freaking  damn  .  i’m  too  broken  ,  the  pieces  are  just  scattered  and  incredibly  tiny  .  who  cares  !  i’ll  let  myself  wallow  in  this  for  a  while  until  i  inevitably  reclaim  the  shattered  pieces  of  my  EXISTENCE  and  pretend  that  this  meltdown  totally  didn’t  happen  .  ”

“  haven’t  you  heard  ?  everything  is  out  of  control  in  this  godforsaken  town  .  ”  pansy  replied  almost  nonchalantly  ,  knowing  that  not  everyone  could  pick  up  on  the  strange  atmosphere  around  twinrivers  .  perhaps  it  was  a  witch  thing  ,  but  there  was  something  dark  stirring  in  the  air  .  she  could  feel  it  in  her  bones  .  not  to  mention  the  mines  or  the  storms  .  “  we  just  have  to  make  do  ,  i  suppose  .  ”

that  was  a  sentiment  of  which  pansy  could  earnestly  relate  to  .  she  had  been  filled  with  anger   since  a  startlingly  young  age  ,  fighting  tooth  and  claw  to  maintain  a  fierce  reputation  .  in  all  honesty  ,  it  was  simply  because  she  was  scared  of  never  being  good  enough  .  she’d  been  trying  to  move  past  it  ,  to  become  better  .  wasn’t  easy  ,  though  .  “  trust  me  ,  no  one  knows  that  better  than  me  .  it’s  easy  to  sit  in  that  kind  of  rage  .  ”

pansy  couldn’t  help  but  scoff  at  the  words  .  from  the  many  years  that  they  had  been  friends  ,  the  witch  had  definitely  been  able  to  suss  him  out  ---  understand  the  parts  of  him  that  he  tried  to  keep  hidden  .  even  if  it  didn’t  seem  like  it  ,  pansy  always  knew  best  .  “  shut  up  ,  you  fool  .  i’ll  call  you  draco  lucius  malfoy  as  much  as  i  want  .  ”
