at her core she is someone who desires a sense of belonging, to feel desired or needed by others despite turning others away from her. she is detail-oriented with a strong intuition, allowing her to make judgements with ease. because of her traumatic past, moon presents a “lackluster” image of herself to everyone, wanting to stay out of the spotlight. this has caused her to not apply herself despite being incredibly talented. due to a series of unfortunate events, she is convinced she is bad luck, which has caused her to have a hard time expressing herself with others, or overthink what others may think of her. underneath her mask, she is someone who is hardworking, often doing tasks in the shadow, away from prying eyes. those who are close to her may describe moon as loyal and dependable, someone who would drop everything if they needed her to.

despite her mother and father being near her (they were staff members), won moon grew up in the heart of starshine orphanage. she has no knowledge of who her parents are and has had very little interactions with them. she speaks very fondly of the orphanage despite having a terrible experience in it.

starshine orphanage was one of many locations of a large cult that operated on studying the childrens magic. members believed that because children were pure of the world's sins they would be easy to mold and shape into whatever they wanted.

won moon was one of seven children who held remarkable results, meaning they were suitable to be a vessel. she was then given the alias "sunday" as one of the seven blessed.

on christmas day, her tenth birthday, the orphanage mysteriously caught on fire. the news outlet described the "black hole" tragedy as horrific. many of the first responders, and neighboring witnesses, described the smell of the scene as unbearable.

won moon was found as the sole survivor of this tragic event covered head to toe in blood and severe burn marks on her hands and arms. it was also noted that she most likely got those burns from dragging her friend out from the building.

first responder fire fighter won jiyoung was first to interact with won moon, and eventually adopted her, moving her over to seoul. together, they worked on moon's selective mutism, night terrors, and haphephobia. while her selective mutism and night terrors slowly faded away, her fear for skin to skin contact still remains, although it has gotten better over the years.

moon's burn marks run from the tip of her left hand up to her collar, often peaking out of clothing, and on the right, from her hand to her forearm. due to these injuries, she has sensory damage fully in the left and slightly in the right.

because of her injuries, and her fear, moon keeps herself covered up at all times. it is very rare to see her without gloves or even anything other than long sleeves. even in the summer time she can be seen covered up.

her adoptive mother, won jiyoung, used to be a well respected teacher at the school before she resigned to become a fire fighter. she is the reason moon is enrolled in the school, wanting her to get used to mingling with others around her age, or even those similar to her.

one year, after losing control of her magic, one student joked that she must've burned down the orphanage, and other students began calling her "lighter". calling her "lighter" became a regular occurrence and is eventually what most people know her by, even if they don't know the origin of the nickname. won moon keeps to herself and doesn't fight back, so naturally, the students making those jokes got away with it.

because of the amount of eyes on her, moon slowly reverted back to not talking to anyone. she mostly lingers in the back line, the shadows, to avoid any unnecessary attention.

despite all this, she is a very bright student. she excels in just about everything other than one simple thing, control. the orphanage didn't exactly manage the childrens' magic accordingly, so many often skipped the control portion despite understanding advanced magic. won moon was no exception to that. she is, as described by won jiyoung, as a battery that is always soaking up energy. if she doesn't expel the excess energy then she could quite literally explode something on accident. she has, since then, learned to release said energy whenever there is a build up.
