Basic rules
Disclaimer: it's not my post. I've got it from the old blog - Kat's Pr0 @n@. I just felt kinda nostalgic I guess
1. The most important rule is to make rules for yourself. Your own personal rules will be your most important rules. Rules are everything. You rules make you unique.
2. Ana must be the center of your life. She is the only one who truly knows you.
3. Drink a full glass of water before you eat, and take a sip in between every bite. It takes at least 20 minutes for your stomach to realize you're full, and this way you will get full much faster.
4. Eat dense foods. Light and fluffy foods like muffins will compact in your digestive system and you will feel hungry much sooner.
5. Take out the amount of food you plan to eat, and never allow for seconds.
6. Think before you eat. Don't eat while distracted (Watching TV, reading, etc), don't let yourself relax (Try standing up). Seriously consider if you need to eat, and then consciously give yourself permission. Never stop focusing on what's really important.
7. Eating four meals of 100 calories each is far better than eating 1 meal of 400 calories.
8. Never eat anything larger than 1 cup (The size of your fist) at one time. If you eat more, your stomach will expand and you'll be hungry much sooner
9. Slim-Fast and other "healthy" bars and shakes have more carbs and calories than the meal they're intended to replace. Stay away unless completely necessary.
10. Drink at least 8 oz. of water every hour. Try keeping a water bottle somewhere you'll see it often, an take a drink every time you see it.
11. Drink up to one shot of apple cider vinegar before eating. It will taste awful, but apple cider vinegar minimizes the amount of fat you will absorb. It's also amazing for minimizing cravings or starting off a fast.
12. Ice and gum are great substitutes for food. Celery works if you're really hungry.
13. Use small, dark-colored plates. Dark blue and black help you eat less, and smaller plates will make your portions look larger, making you less likely to eat the full portion.
14. Make a list of "bad foods". Every once in a while, cross a food off the list and vow to never eat it again. Eventually, there will be no foods left.
15. Eat in front of a mirror (Naked or in underwear if possible) if you worry you will eat a larger amount than you've planned. When you're out, take a selfie of yourself in a revealing outfit. Look at all your problem areas, don't add to them! Remind yourself what you're working for.
16. Eat lots of fiber for fewer calories and good digestive health.
17. Create a routine for eating. This can be cutting your food into small bites, making a set number of times to chew for each bite, setting your utensils down and taking a drink between each bite, or anything else to keep yourself focused on each and every bite.
18. If you need to eat higher-calorie foods, eat them in the morning so you have more time to burn them off. If you eat later in the day, the calories are more likely to be stored as fat due to inactivity. The body has to burn through all your food before it starts burning excess fat.
19. When going out, make sure to stick to your budget. Plan out what you need to buy, and only take that amount of money so you don't end up buying food on impulse.
20. Don't sneak bites. Don't taste what you're cooking, and don't take bites of someone else's food. The calories will add up quickly and you won't realize how much extra food you're eating.
21. Write down everything you eat and drink, with calorie amounts. This will help make you think before you eat, and you'll also be able to keep closer track of how many calories you're eating.
22. Where a rubber band or hair tie around your wrist and snap it when you want to eat. Reinforce the idea that food is bad and will cause you more pain than you could ever imagine.
23. Set a time in the morning when you will allow yourself to start eating (For example, 6:00AM), and then set a time at night where you will stop eating (Example, 6:00PM/18:00). Set the times exactly 12 hours apart, and you will have a 12 hour fast every day.
24. Don't eat less than three hours before sleeping. The calories won't have time to be burnt off, and they will store as fat due to inactivity, making you gain weight.
25. Eat a peppermint or drink peppermint tea when hungry. This neutralizes your stomach acid and make hunger pains go away.
26. Brush your teeth when you want to eat. The clean feeling and fresh breath will make you less likely to eat.
27. Tums (5 calories each) stop stomach rumbling and contain calcium.
28. Carry a list of all the reasons you want to be thin. Look at it when hungry to remind yourself of your goals. Alternatively, write a new list whenever you want to eat; this will distract you long enough for your hunger to pass.
29. Measure a ribbon the size that you want one of your measurements (Like your waist or thigh) to be. Tie this around your wrist, and you'll be reminded of your goals constantly. When necessary, take it off your wrist and wrap it around yourself to measure how far you've come and how far you still have to go.
30. Always leave at least one bite of food on your plate. This will teach you control and help you stop eating when you begin to binge. This will also stop you from compulsively finishing a portion after you've already eaten enough.
31. Save $1 (Or other currency of you live outside the US) for every meal you skip. Once you save up enough money, spoil yourself on non-food gifts like new makeup or expensive perfume.
32. The advice of friends who don't know Ana will only get in the way. Only take Ana's advice while working towards your goals.
33. Never eat in secret. This leads to compulsive binging. If you wouldn't eat it in public, you shouldn't be eating it at all. What you eat in private, you wear in public.
34. Never eat out of a box or jar. Always eat from a plate or bowl. This helps in many ways: You can measure out an exact serving, keeping your calorie intake exact; using smaller dining ware will help you eat smaller portions; and you can determine how much you will eat beforehand to avoid going back for seconds.
35. Donate clothes as they get too big for you. Don't keep them around. That's a part of your life that you're leaving behind and never going back to.
36. If you live alone, put thinspo and reverse thinspo on the refrigerator or the pantry. A mirror in those locations or thinspo and reverse thinspo on a mirror also work well.
37. When you feel the hunger pains, remind yourself that beauty is pain. We will be the prettiest.
38. Coffee is an appetite suppressant. Drink it black or with any zero-calorie sweetener.
39. Count every bite, and chew each bite at least 15 times. Plan in advance how many bites you can have, and then slowly lower that number until you're eating as little as possible.
40. Paint your nails. You can't eat until the polish dries. Whitening your teeth also works well.
41. Drink water before eating. If you're really hungry, drink tea or some low-calorie broth. If you still decide you need to eat, you'll eat much less than you would have.
42. Eat low-calorie foods with strong flavors. Sometimes you’re craving taste, not food. For bouillon, use less water than is recommended. Peppermints, pickles, peppers, and mustard are good choices.
43. Do not eat anything unless you know the exact amount of calories in it.
44. Chew gum while cooking. That way you can’t take bites while it is cooking, and you won’t want to eat it once it’s done.
45. Keep food out of sight, not sitting out, and stay away from food and the kitchen to keep your mind off it.
46. Keep a pocket thinspo in your wallet with your cash so you won’t spend money on food.
47. For sweet cravings, lick a chopstick and dip it into a diet Swiss Miss pack.
48. Write your current weight on one hand, and your goal weight on the other. When you go to eat, you’ll be reminded how fat you are, and how skinny you could be.
49. Remember the four D's: Distance yourself from food; Distract yourself; Delay eating; and Decide what your goals really are.
50. Green tea raises metabolism and is very good for the skin and overall health. Drink it in the morning to increase metabolism for the day. Add lemon to make it more effective and to add a detoxifying aspect.
51. Hot water with lemon is another good morning drink.
52. Spicy foods raise metabolism, if you don’t like them you can take cayenne pepper capsules available in supplement section of drugstores or health food stores.
53. Drinking apple cider vinegar is said to raise metabolism, have a few tablespoons, can also be mixed in water (with lemon would be best) or used as salad dressing.
54. Start the morning with stretching to wake up your muscles, the morning is also the best time to exercise because your body will use stored food (fat) as fuel instead of food you ate. It also processes food better throughout the day and gives you more energy if you exercise in the morning.
55. Get at least 6 hours of sleep each night, less than this can decrease metabolism by 10% and increase appetite by 15%. You look better and feel better when you have more sleep also if you’re sleeping then you’re not eating!
56. Keep good posture, it burns 10% more calories throughout the day. You also look better.
57. Vitamin B6 and B12 raise metabolism and give you energy.
58. Eating protein increases your metabolic rate by 14%.
