Let Me Yap about: The Satanic Church of the Void Hierarchies/Organization (because this is my blog)
What are all the ranks? How does the church make ends meet? Where are some opportunities for drama? And other exciting world building rants compiled in a single blogpost!
There is the Trinity of Papa Emeritus, Mother Imperator, and the Void aka the mouth of hell itself. (link here for that post) And then there is the earthly drama:

Siblings, Magicians & Cardinals
Sibling is the entry level position of a devoted faithful that reside in an abbey as a full time religious pursuit. They maintain the abbey and participate in religious rites as their main focus. They can pursue the arts or use their talents in service to their residence. They have no voting power in larger organizational matters and answer to the local cardinal or bishop in charge. They wear gray, brown or dark blue.
Cardinals are leaders of their abbeys and are in charge of the earthly maintinence of their residence or the Church as a whole. They have voting power in larger matters according to their order of precedence and status. They are able to run satellite locations of the ministry throughout the world. In order to be elevated to the positon of Cardinal a sibling needs a high ranking sponsor who appeals for them in a vote. Technically the rank is awarded for superior service but it's not uncommon for this position to be bought. They wear red with a horned red cap. Their governing body is the College of Cardinals.
Magicians observe and maintain the magickal health of the Church, including the hellmouth known as The Void. Siblings of significant talent go through trials and exams to achieve the rank of Magician and it can take many years. They are technically supposed to stay out of earthly political affairs and do not have voting power but they do have tremendous unspoken influence. They wear all black with a truncated cap. Many of them cover their hair as a means of magickal protection. Their governing body is the Conclave, which is incredibly secretive and most members are anonymous. They answer to The Dark Mother, Mother Imperator.
Bishops are Cardinals who run abbeys that have maintained a certain population for a set period of time (Specific numbers have been negotiated throughout the centuries). Once an abbey is awarded a seat for a Bishop it can never be taken away. A bishop automatically has much higher influence and voting rights than a regular cardinal. Each bishop has a number added to their name to denote how many of them had come before. So the Bishop of Milan is Raphael XXVI, New York is Bishop Emeritus Camino VII, and the Bishop of Krakow is Necropolitus II. They wear green, a flat skullcap and during mass wear a plain green mitre (no symbols).
What are they voting on? MONEY and land of course!
How does each location make money?
Any way they can, really. Many of these church locations are attached to nightclubs, sex dungeons, performance spaces, real estate. Or they perform services that are surprise surprise often nefarious or below the law. The Berlin location (which was pulled together from the destroyed remains of the Dresden church) runs a huge nightclub. Money laundering is a common practice, and the Zurich Church has some flimsy banking sort of deal. The Chicago church was a bootlegger's paradise in the 30s and up until the 90s the location at Krakow was the biggest smuggling operation of Western music and home audio equipment in the city. There's a certain negotiated amount of money that gets sent to the main Ministry HQ who then distributes some of that pool back out to their churches, which is another opportunity for negotiating funding.
Any location eligible for a Bishop's seat needs to provide a large payout to HQ which is distributed to the other branches. Again another wheeling and dealing situation.
Voting Power
Determined by a few factors including how long a Cardinal or Bishop has been in their position, and how long their location has existed. How much money is sent to HQ also determines influence. A bishop has more power automatically than a cardinal. If an official was once Papa Emeritus the Provider they have even more influence, and even more for every Papa Emeritus figure who comes out of that location. So Bishop Emeritus Camino, who was once Provider of the Void, had helped elevate 7 other Providers and who sends the most money to HQ was for a time the most powerful figure of the earthly Church. Was it fair? No. None of this supposed to be fair. It's organized religion it all sucks.
The oldest surviving branch is Milan and therefore recieves the highest legacy payout of any of the other locations, which means Bishop Raphael XXVI doesn't technically have to do anything at all to scramble for funds. He's given up on the Milan church restoration project; they've been kicking that can down the road for nearly 100 years.
The Big Drama
The seat of the Satanic Church of the Void was Milan for over five hundred years until the church itself was bombed in 1917. It killed Mother Imperator and a large majority of clergy and for safety's sake the new Mother Imperator and her retinue were moved to the United States. She is the only tie the entire Church has to the Hellmouth, and it is through her they can create the Unholy Host and do infernal miracles. Ever since Sister Imperator was chosen for this honor by the wheedling American clergy, there's been an unspoken tension across the ocean. And Nihil's brood rotating in and out of the seat of Papa Emeritus is another sore spot. But people have been killed for sticking their necks out too far.

once more, before we get into the goodies, let me just say a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated throughout June and made this event as fun as it was. it was overwhelming (in a good way) when it was going on, but putting this list together and seeing just how many people participated--and on such short notice--is really just 🤯
