-with a few exceptions, don't tag the same pairing with both / and & just for reach. / is for romantic/sexual dynamics, and & is for purely platonic dynamics. There's some gray area with dynamics that don't fit neatly into one or the other (i.e., some ace/aro relationships), but if you're writing a standard romance, you should only tag it with / and leave the & tag out. Yes, even if it's a friends to lovers fic.

-if a character is featured prominently? They should be tagged as a character on the fic. If the fic is about them, they should definitely be tagged. Just having a character tagged in the ship is going to mean your fic doesn't filter right in ao3 tags when people try to filter in or out characters. Please just tag your characters.

-tag your warnings. This seems obvious, but just putting "dead dove" on a fic does not mean you've warned correctly; if you don't want to tag your warnings, you need to use "creator chose not to use archive warnings." Don't bury important warnings in author's notes, either; they can be good for clarification or minor things, but major warnings shouldn't be there, especially not if it's buried under a dropdown or anything else that could make the warning inaccessible.

Like-- the man is triggering himself out of the blue WHILE THINKING ABOUT HIS husband FRIEND AND THE KIDS BEING HAPPY. Nothing bad is happening. Weather is great, there is no danger, he's fed, rested (somewhat) and he just... let's himself think too much. There is no trigger outside of his own traitorous mind, that is just a bit too tired and too burnt out to keep itself from slipping into bad memories. There is so little of Olruggio's POV, and I will cling to that small piece of his mind we get to witness. "Haven't had that one in a long time" good to know Olruggio, so you're saying there's a pattern? CPTSD much???? Oh it's nothing to comparison to a little burn out? Yeah I dare say flashback is a bit more distressing than an artist's block, but of course someone so used to underappreciating himself like Olruggio is would compare these two.
