House Guardian

House Guardians help keep wayward negative energies from accumulating too quickly or from “sticking” from day to day activities. They do not, however, stop massive amounts of it from being brought in.

Materials:

River stone that catches your eye and “feels right” (can be a land stone, any color but preferably you have a stock of these things you have picked up and can pick the one that your guard symbol can stand out on)

pen or brush (I prefer a short quill as you can see from the photo)

Black ink (Normally I have some ink I’ve made from fire ash but I haven’t had the chance to restock yet, so India Ink it is!)

Process:

Your House Guardian is going to essentially be your security guard, so treat it accordingly. 

As you pick out your stone, feel its energy. If it seems to resonate with a particular frequency that you associate with masculine or feminine, or if the stone outright says it refuses to be referred to in such a manner, give it that dignity. Most stones are neutral in that regard but “identifying” a stone in such a way only helps in naming and building a relationship. Every stone is different.

This process can take a long time, so don’t expect to get it done in a half hour. With this particular stone pictured above, I have been working at building a connection for a few months (and asked permission for it to be a part of this post). Over this time it has let me know what to call it, how to treat it, and what “face” it was comfortable with displaying. Sometimes a stone won’t tolerate a face but a symbol, sigil, glyph, sometimes a word in a certain language, sometimes even random squiggles or nothing at all. The stone will let you know.

The important thing to remember is that stones are OLD. They’re made up of millions of tiny dust particles that have traveled on the wind and water, been buried and compressed under immeasurable amounts of pressure, melted and “frozen” throughout the life-age of the Earth. They are parts of a larger whole broken off and slowly eroding away again to start that cycle anew. Essentialy they are the Earth’s “blood.” They’ve been through so much more than any of us can imagine and carry with them a steadfast stubbornness that has allowed their spirits to persist for so long. 

Being labeled and used as a House Guardian is hardly a lasting moment for them, but aside from that… and like a security guard they might divulge a few old war stories or open up about the state of things in the Hidden World. Just keep in mind as well that what they may share is not often comprehensible by humans….and is said VERY slowly.

When you’ve given it a face (literally or metaphorically) you’ve also more than likely been given suggestions on where your House Guardian would prefer to be stationed, now that it knows what you want out of the relationship as well.

Be it on a windowsill, in a forgotten corner of your home, buried in a flowerpot or in the yard somewhere, even in a purse or messenger bag (should they be a rolling stone ^w^).

Not a new invention by any means, but if you’ve never done one try a simmer pot to bring good intentions into the new year. 

A simmer pot is both a kind of spellwork and a kind of homemade potpourri. It’s also just what it sounds like: in a pot, simmer a mixture of fruits, herbs, spices, oils, etc. to permeate your home. While the mixture itself is potent (both in smell and in intention), many also include pieces of paper or bay leaves with wishes and desires for the new year written on them.

🌻 Spell to make seedlings grow. 🌻

🌿 Have the seedlings germinated. You can have done the water germination method, or soil germination, or eggshell germination. For the spell to start, have the germinated seeds in soil. (Tip: Best soil: seedling/started soil, herb and vegetable soil, or any loose, light soil of your choice.)

🌱 Have the starter pot/pots/dish/etc in front of you. Place a white, green, or yellow candle or tealight at the far left and right corners and light them, first lighting the one on the left, then using it to light the one on the right.

🌿 Whilst looking at the candles and the fire, talk to your seedings: Tell them about your good intentions for them. Encourage them to grow. Tell them they will do well. Essentially, begin the long and close relationship you want to have with them. Do this at least until you can see some melted wax.

🌱 In your mortar and pestle, mix together and powdered eggshells, coffee grounds, and if you can, any of the following: oyster shell lime, powdered chopped banana peel, or alfalfa. Sprinkle one third of this mix on top of the soil. Add the rest of it to your watering container. (Tip: Most herbs need soil whose pH level is between 5.5 and 6, meaning that they need moderately acidic soil. This is why coffee grounds are included in the mixture, among things. Tip: You can get free coffee grounds at most Starbucks’ because of their “Grounds for your Gound” promgamme.) 

🌿 Bless the plants by blowing out the candles, left to right, and wafting the smoke over the soil and seedlings.

🌱 Finally, place the seedlings where they can get sunlight, on top of something green. This can even be a green piece of paper.

Maintaining goals is hard for everyone, but especially so for ADHDers cause we have difficulty with INTERNAL motivation. 

I too had difficulty pursuing goals till I noticed an issue with my mindset. It was the same as yours.. I kept setting goals and forgetting. Then I realized the issue..

You have to have a reason to change, ie, EXTERNALIZE your goals. If you don’t have one, you have to create it.

Change for the sake of change is.. incredibly difficulty.

So say you want to start exercising.. just planning to exercise an hour a day is useless. Set a goal you want to realize. 

Maybe how defined you want your muscles to be. Or what you want your running time to be. Maybe make running a marathon your initial goal and then go from there.

a) you don’t actually care enough about that thing to make changes to your daily routine

Or, very commonly for ADHDers…

b) you haven’t broken it down into steps, set time for it, and now it seems too complicated or you forgot.

Try breaking it down into achievable steps and preparing in advance. For example, you want to start exercising so that you can improve fitness and be less restless at work?

Decide:

a) what/where is that exercise? (Gym class? Running around your area? Etc)

b) when will you exercise? (Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7am? When will you have the least excuses to skip your training?)

c) what needs to be prepared in advance? (Pack your bag the night before, know your track, know the time of your train and the time you have to leave the house etc and set recurring alarms)

If you do all of this and still can’t get yourself out of bed ask a friend to join you or tell people you are running that morning and you are excited about it. This makes the pressure very external to your motivations which is awesome.

If you miss a session or two, that’s okay, life can be unpredictable. If you miss a couple of weeks or you often miss 2 sessions a week work out why you fell off the wagon and get your ass back into gear! (Affectionately)
