This was the first time that I drank tomato juice that didn't come from a can. It came from my garden. I was surprised how different fresh tomato juice tastes. It made some awesome Bloody Mary's!

Time to begin the summer feast!

Everything is growing like crazy! The tomatoes are getting bigger and bigger and not turning colors! Composted chicken manure does wonders!

Here are my bell pepper seeds popping and my husband’s first attempt at time-lapse photography using his raspberry pi.

Spring planting time. This year, we had ivy growing into the planting boxes, up through the landscape fabric on the ground. We emptied the boxes, pulled the roots, and stapled layers of fabric directly onto the bottom of the boxes, and up the sides. It was hard work, but, so far, the tomatoes are very happy. We will find out in the fall if our plan worked.

I picked and dehydrated ancho chiles today. My kitchen smells soooo good!

Making Sauerkraut - We picked 3 cabbages (about 10 lbs. total) and are turning them into 4 half gallons of sauerkraut.

A plump, juicy winter tomato. Not bad for January!

A little trim of my collard tree gave us a nice bowl of collards for New Year's Day. Collard greens for New Year's Day is a Southern tradition, eaten in hopes for a prosperous New Year. I bought it as a 3 inch plant a few years ago and planted it in the ground. It keeps growing and giving. Seems pretty prosperous to me.
