Overall I have enjoyed this project because I think it’s been a subject I enjoy studying and researching. I have broadened my mind and been able to understand multiple points of view. Objectification is sometimes seen by one and not by another. Objectification and empowerment have a very thin line between each other. Which can be decided by the woman/man who is seen as being objectified. I have spoken to somebody who finds empowerment in their own choices which does include being objectified at the same time. I have learnt a great deal about objectification being used in the media and company advertisements and how people in charge can have the upper hand completely and change the face of the business. I’ve explored women’s use of objectification and how they use it to their advantage to feel beautiful, pay their rent and make a career.
Considering my skills over the past year I have massively increased my knowledge of photography and photoshop. My work experience has had a big part to play with that but also Luke I have learnt a lot about photography and photoshop with him and I now know how to use a DSLR camera in manual mode and how to set it up so I can use it easily and quickly. This has helped massively in my progression as I have brought my own camera and can now use it in a professional manner. My Photoshop skills since starting university have increased the most as when I started university I had no idea about how to use it, but now I can use it without any issues, I’m quite proud of myself actually for how much I’ve learnt.
The only problems I’ve experienced are I had trouble with the macro lens and trying to get it to zoom in as much as I’d like. Luke helped me crop the images and use the lighting to try and highlight the inside of the doll better. Another issue I experienced was recently when it came to hanging my work ready for the end of year exhibition. My command strips would not stick to the wall enough and my work kept falling down, so we resorted to nails.
