I’m writing this post to raise breast cancer awareness. On April 16th, I found out I have breast cancer. They found it in a follow up mammogram (that I had done in August) that I was a month late getting done in April. Luckily, they found the cancer very early on. After taking a lot of time to process this news and telling my kids, my family and a few close friends, I had surgery May 12th and I’m currently recovering from that. They took out a very small tumor and 3 lymph nodes. In 1 lymph node the cancer spread to it. My stage is 1a. I will under go radiation 5 days a week then after probably chemo (that hasn’t been confirmed yet) Also, a hormone blocker pill I will need to take for 5-10 years after I totally recover from surgery. I have a long hard road ahead of me. I have so much love and support to help me through this and I’m confident I will kick cancers ass. Please I don’t want pity, people act funny when you say the “C” word around them. What I want is for women to get their mammograms done and not put it off. Men can have breast cancer too. So, feel for lumps and bumps and get your mammograms done plz. Thank god for mammograms because it saved my life. So, that’s the reason I came out on Facebook to raise Breast cancer awareness. I am optimistic & so are my doctors. If this post can get one woman to get their mammogram done, than it was worth putting my condition out there. Thanks to the cancer center, I FINALLY got my medical marijuana card and it was for FREE for me due to my condition! This makes me very happy!
