I kept myself sane at work today by thinking about Mossy and riddle games.  It’s obviously something that the fair folk enjoy, but it’s also a way to pass the time.  Thing is, Mossy’s been playing them for so long that he knows all the ways that the fae can cheat without breaking the rules, per se.  Ie: asking riddles in a language the opponent doesn’t speak, picking a riddle from a culture the opponent knows nothing about, the riddle refers to something that is now so obscure or obsolete that the (mortal) opponent couldn’t possibly be familiar with the answer, etc.  Which are, admittedly, only things that happen if they really don’t want to play.  It’s not fun unless there’s actually a chance the other person will succeed.  A small chance.

/again offers Taniel, Jackie, and Mossy to Jami because a) Taniel definitely speaks her dialect since knowledge of all languages his kind of his Thing and he’s already bffs with one homicidal maniac, b) Mossy’s French is probably just as antiquated if not more so plus he’s pefectly happy to wander the woods and not have to make conversation, and c) Jackie is a murder bird lady with some stray nurturing instincts what could possibly go wrong?
