          she’s EIGHT YEARS OLD –– she shouldn’t be playing with toys, she’s much too old for them –– but jyn can’t help but squeeze stormy to her chest like it’s the only thing keeping her afloat ( after all she’s been through, she thinks it probably is. ) it’s stupid and babyish, she knows, to find comfort in a toy when she’s this old, but if she doesn’t do something, she think she might break down into tears.

          as padmé kneels in front of her, jyn watches her solemnly, her face too neutral and blank for any child. if her papa isn’t in any danger, then he should be able to come home, right ? the man in white had taken him away, but that had also been the man who had killed her mother. “ they hurt my mama “ she points out, her voice steady and calm, only interrupted by the slight hitch of her breath. ( if she knew anything about medicine, then she’d know that she’s going into shock. ) “ why did he go with them ? when will he be able to come home ? “ she’s always been inquisitive, and even in the light of the tragedy that destroyed her small little family and the life they’d made on lah’mu, it’s a facet of her personality that doesn’t get turned off. however, even after asking the woman her questions, jyn knows the answer: she won’t be seeing her father for a VERY, VERY LONG TIME.

          this is her new reality. time to get used to it.

          she’s cold, and tired, but she doesn’t announce that fact out loud. if this woman truly is saving her and giving her a place to live, then jyn doesn’t want to upset her by asking for things. instead, she bites her lip and listens, trying to focus on the words, but they only confuse her. she had a droid too, macvee, and a mama and a papa, but now she doesn’t. if padmé has two children AND a droid AND a brother, then why does she want jyn to come with her ? she already has a family, and jyn finds the need to point that out to her. “ why do you want me if you already have kids ? “ she asks bluntly. “ you already have a family. i used to have a family, but i don’t anymore. “ but she wants her family back, wants it so much that she feels like it’s consuming her. 

          ( too bad she can’t have it. )

          jyn rocks back on her heels, squeezing stormy tighter and clenching her jaw. “ i can stay here if you don’t have room for me, “ she whispers, even though she doesn’t know what she’ll do by herself. “ mama says i’m good at being independent. “

                                         "   HE   WENT   WITH   THEM   TO   PROTECT   YOU.   “       she sighs, knowing that her answer wasn’t enough to comfort her. how could it be   ???       they killed her mother,       stole her father   &&   now she was   FORCED   TO   LIVE   with a complete stranger.

öbikin tbh ??? && yeah they’re very popular in the fandom on tumblr though i don’t see much of their popularity outside of tumblr, but that’s just what i’ve seen. part of it is because i only ship pädmé with änakin, && änakin with pädmé in canon. 

but also… öbi wan met änakin when he was in his mid to late twenties while änakin was a child, then was responsible for his upbringing && raised him, änakin calls öbi wan the closest thing he has to a father, öbi wan calls änakin his brother, änakin a former slave calls him master even after he’s knighted, there’s just such a power imbalance… it makes me super uncomfortable ??? also änakin in canon is literally pädmesexual… && i don’t see öbi wan ever getting romantically involved with his padawan + again… öbi wan raised him, i can’t ever ship anything with parental elements in it.
