Wait WAIT the sword is on the table before Thistle does his little happy dance and it's the sword falling on him that makes Thistle drop the book

It's because the book fell open that the Lion is able to attack Thistle, and the Lion can make the sword fall bc it can control Kensuke.

Izutsumi doesn't have memories of her mom, but still feels the pull towards safety and comfort and love that the succubus illusion provides.

She can't recognize the actual parental love that the succubi show to their larvae, but she displays the exact same ferocity and kindness when guarding & caring for her companions!!!

Look at her expression!

She literally feeds everyone the milk that the succubi had created for their children, to help nurse them back to health. Look at the stray bits fur around their mouths! She wiped all their faces clean.

It's easy to look at Izutsumi's arc as one of finally being treated with kindness and learning to let herself give and receive love. And I do think her story is about those things, but... I think it's also about her realizing that she has always had that love & always had those feelings, she was just never in a safe place to acknowledge them.

She doesn't lack a human heart, she has two hearts. She is not a cold person who becomes kind, she is a person who needed coldness because it was not safe to be anything else. But she survived, and that survival is a form of self-love in and of itself. She wasn't alone -- because she was trying, as best she could, to take care of herself.

And it is in outwardly expressing that same love & care for the group that she's able to find safety. If it is a deeply rooted desire for the safety of a mother's embrace that the succubi were praying on, then surely it means something that at the end of the chapter...
