Finding My Direction/ Personalised Positioning Statement
What names, histories, memories, absences, or relationships are connected to these places?Â
Things that are connected to my photos are my friends, my family, my pets, my new environment I’m living in, my neighbourhood, my everyday walking things I see daily, and just capturing it at different times of the day.Â
And by taking these photos, it helps me to create new memories and capture them in a still photo.
How does light change what I notice, feel, or understand? How lighting changes the photo is a really big aspect, and some of my photos show this, as it can draw you to space in the photo, like if it’s outside and the sun is shining down, the bright colours are more exposed than the darker colours.Â
What is my relationship to this place, and what responsibilities come with photographing it?Â
My relationship with the space is that it’s my neighbourhood; it’s what’s around me. What I’m capturing is how I am living, and I’m trying to capture it in a way where people wouldn’t expect New Zealand to be this beautiful. And it also shows you that, by exploring, you can find really beautiful and interesting places around your neighbourhood that you wouldn’t expect would be there if you didn’t go and explore
What is becoming more specific as I keep photographing?
Things that are becoming more specific: the lake down from my house, more exterior than interior. I am focusing more on nature and the world around me.Â

How his work is linked to my work is that I have recently moved to the North Shore. Since being in the west of Auckland for the past 18 years, I have been capturing what my new environment looks like and how it is so much different to my old environment.Â

Week 4 36 Photo Dump
This week I decided to go for a walk around my neighbourhood and go down to the lake and capture the landscape.
Week 3 Reflection
This week, I took Photos at night at the start of the week and captured the sunset and the street lights. I also went for another walk around the city and explored and captured lovely photos of the sun hitting and lighting up the scene.
White Balance
Week 3 – In-Class Workshop: White Balance
Task 2: Take three photographs of an interior scene that is lit by both natural light and domestic/artificial light. Each photograph should use a different white balance setting.
For this task, I experimented with different colour temperatures to see which one created the best result. I tested the different white balance presets on the camera, including:
Auto
Incandescent
Fluorescent
Direct Sunlight
Flash
Cloudy
Shade
Preset
I compared the different photographs to see how each white balance setting changed the colours and overall mood of the image.

Week 3 Photographer of the Week Ann Shelton
Who is Ann SheltonÂ
She was born in Timaru, New Zealand, in 1967. She studied photography at Elam School of Arts, Auckland, and she also completed a Master of Fine Arts in Canada. She doesn’t just take photographs of nature, buildings and places; she also takes photographs of people. A lot of her photography has a deeper meaning behind it than just how the photo looks.Â
What is the photography mother lord about? This photograph is about a small farm that grows food in a way that is good for the environment and helps keep the environment safer. In her photography, she wants to show that the farm is beautiful and neat and tidy, and she wants us to think differently about how we see a garden. Why is the farm important the farms important because she wants to show that farms grow and help us supply food for us or people who can’t afford food, and also help the farmers have a reasonable income. The food from the garden also helps look after the planetÂ

Week 1 Reflection
This week I have explored the outside environment, taking photos of nature and using colours and lighting. When I went to Albert Park, it helped me get into the groove of taking photos and showing how peaceful it is in the morning before the rush of break times and free periods. I also took photos of different times of day through my skylight in my bedroom to document the light and how it brightens my room and darkens it.
4 Photos: Different times of day.
