Originally they were supposed to have brotherly relationship, but I happened to be too weak to avoid developing it into passionate love during the plot, heh.

ENG. These guys live and breathe for the same things, and they both seem to be abstract from reality and people around. Being similar in this way, they're still very different as persons: he's a well-mannered and intelligent noble guy, very compliant and easygoing in everyday life, while she's a battle-ax born in a family of the working class, with a nasty character and rather sharp tongue. However, Stan and Alex complement each other harmoniously. Together they are a good team, something like a perfectly working mechanism. After seeing them together it's difficult to imagine them being separate.

RU. Эти двое живут и дышат одним и тем же и примерно в равной степени кажутся оторванными от реальности и окружающих. Похожие в этом плане, по характеру они друг другу противоположны: Этельстан воспитанный и интеллигентный парень благородного происхождения, добродушный и уступчивый в повседневности, в то время как Александрия - бой-баба из семьи рабочего класса, с несносным характером и острым языком. Но несмотря на эти различия, они гармонично друг друга дополняют, как детали единого отлаженного механизма. Однажды увидев их вместе, по отдельности вы их уже с трудом себе представите.

The flames of hell blaze behind his back. Everything around becomes shrouded in thick black smoke. The Reaper holds out his hand to Athelstan in an inviting gesture. Wanting to run away, Agnieszka pulls him along, but he doesn't move. As if hypnotized, he looks at the bony hand with an indifferent expression, paying no attention to the girl. With horror, she realizes that he's accepting the Reaper's invitation.

ENG. Describing Agnieszka's nightmare in short, once she dreams that she and her fiancé are in the epicenter of some kind of disaster. They hold each other's hands hard to avoid being separated, trying to leave that place together, but soon a terrifying figure of the Reaper appears on their way.

It becomes hot around awfully quickly. Agnieszka tries to wake Athelstan up, she begs him to run away with her, but someone from behind grabs her hand. She turns around and sees an unfamiliar person, an officer, surrounded by clouds of poisonous greenish smoke. Painfully squezzing her hand, the officer begins pulling her along with force. She resists, screaming, keeping holding her fiancé who doesn't hear her, as he's already taken a step towards the flames.

His hand seems unbearably hot, and Agnieszka feels like her own hand is beginning to melt. With the last of her strength standing the pain, crying, she tries not to let go of her man, but the Reaper takes a swing with his scythe at her. With a scream, she lets Athelstan go.

As they move away from each other, she sees his figure start burning, until the greenish smoke envelops her.

She doesn't see anything around anymore, except the thick suffocating smoke. Agnieszka starts feeling spasms in her lungs. Couching, gasping for air, she realizes she can't breathe. Feeling that she's thrown into a some kind of a room, she falls to the cold floor and doesn't manage to get up as she's too weak. She starts losing consciousness. The last thought that her mind manages to cling to /before she wakes up/ is that she's cold and lonely.

I have reasons to doubt that this scene is going to stay canon, to be honest. I've been thinking about removing Athelstan from the project and giving him his own story instead /in which his comrade Alexandria would take part as well/. But this isn't going to be decided until I return to working on the project at full capacity. Currently I'm focused on other things.

RU. Однажды Агнешке приснился страшный сон, будто она и её жених Этельстан оказались в эпицентре некоей катастрофы. Крепко держась за руки, они пытались вместе покинуть то место, но в какой-то момент на их пути выросла фигура Жнеца. За его спиной полыхало пламя, всё вокруг стал заволакивать густой чёрный дым. Жнец протянул Этельстану руку в пригласительном жесте. Желая убежать, Агнешка потянула за собой жениха, но тот не двинулся с места. Словно загипнотизированный, с безразличным выражением лица он смотрел на костлявую руку, не обращая на девушку никакого внимания. С ужасом она поняла, что он принимает приглашение Жнеца.

В считанные секунды становится невыносимо жарко. Агнешка пытается докричаться до сознания Этельстана, умоляет его бежать вместе с ней, и в этот момент кто-то из-за спины хватает её за руку. Она оборачивается и видит незнакомого офицера, окружённого клубами ядовитого зеленоватого дыма. Офицер с силой начинает тянуть её за собой. Девушка сопротивляется, кричит, но Этельстан её не слышит - он уже сделал шаг навстречу пламени. Его ладонь, всё ещё сжимающая руку Агнешки, становится нестерпимо горячей, и девушке кажется, её собственная рука начинает плавиться. Из последних сил терпя боль, она старается не отпустить жениха, плачет, но когда Жнец заносит косу над её головой, с криком отпускает.

Удаляясь от Этельстана, она видит, как его фигура горит, пока её не обволакивает плотная, удушающая зеленовато-серая мгла. Не видя более ничего вокруг, Агнешка понимает, что начинает задыхаться. Она судорожно глотает воздух, но лёгкие сводит спазмами. Она чувствует, что её заталкивают в какое-то помещение, падает на холодный пол и не может подняться. Теряя сознание, перед тем как проснуться, она успевать только подумать о том, как ей холодно и одиноко.

ENG. Originally Alejo was an episodic evil character in the currently frozen WW2-related project of mine, but as the story developed and as he got his own detailed background, I came to the conclusion that his original role and the ideas that I got for him later didn't work together. He deserved his own separate story - that best worked with the topic of Old West or smth btw - in which he would become the main character.

And so now I have two independent stories-in-progress, both developing in the same universe but touching different time periods and different locations.

RU. Когда-то Алехо задумывался как эпизодическая отрицательная фигура для ныне замороженного проекта на тему ВМВ, но впоследствии, по мере развития сюжета и наращивания на персонажа его собственной истории внутри этого сюжета, стало очевидно, что его первоначальная роль конфликтует с появившимися у меня позже идеями. Алехо вполне заслуживал более значимой роли - в своём собственном, отдельном проекте (который органичнее всего вписывался в сеттинг Старого Запада или типа того).

Originally expected to be an evil guy Alejo is now a protagonist with gray morality. He's a Mexican rodent, the species that doesn't exist irl and that's conceived as nearly extinct according to the plot. In the first half of the story he mainly acts like a criminal, but then he takes on the role of a rеvоlutiоnary and the leader of his people, who strive to survive and to regain the right to live in their historical homeland.
