How To Use Others As Mirrors For Spiritual Evolution
Every relationship you have in your life acts as a mirror to reflect back to you some aspect of yourself that you need to work on. The thing is, this only works if we are willing to be open to the possibility that what irritates us about others is a reflection of what irritates us about ourselves.
We can go one step further and make the conscious effort to use altercations and confrontations with other people as a mirror for ourselves for spiritual evolution. Â When we treat arguments as chances to learn about ourselves and upgrade ourselves instead of treating them as âtoxicâ things that need to be avoided, we can dramatically speed up our own development.

First Chakra â Earth, grounding, home, work, finances, manifestation and being here. Located at the base of the spine, this chakra forms our foundation. It represents the element earth, and is therefore related to our survival instincts, and to our sense of grounding and connection to our bodies and the physical plane. Ideally this chakra brings us health, prosperity, security, and dynamic presence.
Second Chakra â Water, Emotional identity, oriented to self-gratification. The second chakra, located in the abdomen, lower back, and sexual organs, is related to the element water, and to emotions and sexuality. It connects us to others through feeling, desire, sensation, and movement. Ideally this chakra brings us fluidity and grace, depth of feeling, sexual fulfillment, and the ability to accept change.
Third Chakra â Fire, energy, ego, power, will, risk, digestion, motivation and action. This chakra is known as the power chakra, located in the solar plexus. It rules our personal power, will, and autonomy, as well as our metabolism. When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity, and non-dominating power.
Fourth Chakra â Air, love, relationship, balance, breath, nurturing, and balance. This chakra is called the heart chakra and is the middle chakra in a system of seven. It is related to love and is the integrator of opposites in the psyche: mind and body, male and female, persona and shadow, ego and unity. A healthy fourth chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion, have a deep sense of peace and centeredness.
Fifth Chakra â Sound, vibration, communication, self-expression, being heard. This is the chakra located in the throat and is thus related to communication and creativity. Here we experience the world symbolically through vibration, such as the vibration of sound representing language.
Sixth Chakra â Light, vision, sight, perception, visualization, insight, dreaming. This chakra is known as the brow chakra or third eye center. It is related to the act of seeing, both physically and intuitively. As such it opens our psychic faculties and our understanding of archetypal levels. When healthy it allows us to see clearly, in effect, letting us âsee the big picture.â
Seventh Chakra â Spiritual connection, beliefs, understanding, thought, and awareness. This is the crown chakra that relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is our connection to the greater world beyond, to a timeless, spaceless place of all-knowing. When developed, this chakra brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection, and bliss.

Relative and Non-Relative Consciousness
Through all of the distractions and pressures that come with living on earth today, many of us struggle to tap into the innate essence that we require to elevate our consciousness and live up to our spiritual potential. But just because we havenât tapped into it yet doesnât mean that all hope is lost.
We have more potential and greater perceptions to explore than we realize. Beyond our surface consciousness exists an infinite reality of love, bliss and pure awareness. But, if we want to find it, we have to be willing to transcend the constant mental chatter that vies for our attention, and learn to quiet the cloudy thought-forms that keep us from connecting with spirit and from enjoying the bliss it creates.
So, if we want to connect with our omnipotent inner consciousness, we should routinely clear our minds â something that gets easier with meditation and dedication. Everything gets easier with dedicated practice, and this includes the transcendence of our surface consciousness and the exploration of the much deeper existence we can now tap into.
Franklin Merrell-Wolff describes relative (dualistic) consciousness and non-relative (transcendent) consciousness:
âThe relative forms of consciousness inevitably distort non-relative Consciousness. Not only can I not tell this to others, I cannot even contain it within my own relative consciousness, whether of sensation, feeling, or thought. Every metaphysical thinker will see this impossibility at once⌠I was even prepared not to have the personal consciousness share in this Recognition in any way. But in this I was happily disappointed.âÂ
Once we become aware, we can still employ our surface consciousness (and the knowledge that comes with it) by using it to awaken others.
âIf the thought-current remains active it can reflect, in some measure, the inner Reality, and thus the personal man has a share in the Awakening. In addition, this correlation is necessary if any of the value of the Illumination is to be conveyed to the intelligence of other individuals.âÂ
While we can use our relative consciousness to spread knowledge once we become aware, we canât fathom the depth of our non-relative consciousness until we transcend the senses and explore our deeper awareness. Merrell-Wolff continues:
âRecognition of the SELF in its purity is Realization of Identity with absolute Emptiness, Darkness, and Silence, when viewed from the standpoint of relative consciousness. In point of fact this Emptiness is Absolute Fullness but, as such, never can be comprehended from the perspective of egoistic consciousnessâŚâÂ
This is why I always recommend meditation; it helps us transcend our surface perception and explore ourselves in a deeper way. Our surface consciousness is helpful when it comes to conveying spiritual knowledge, but in order to gain that knowledge, we have to open up, transcend the disconnected mindâs limited awareness and use tools like meditation and creativity to make spirit a consistent part of our life.
Understanding the difference between relative and non-relative consciousness is important for anyone who wants to raise their vibration, and while the âveilâ is pretty thin right now, there are plenty of ways we can get the most out of the intensified energies â so dedication is still important. A much greater, more refined spiritual reality waits for us to explore it, but we have to willingly transcend the mind-centered obstacles that hold us back if we want to know it in a real and pure way.
Weâll be ârewardedâ for our dedication in the form of a sustained connection with All That Is, but we have to apply that dedication before we can experience any rewards. Non-relative consciousness is within our grasp, especially right now, but when we initially find it we might have trouble sustaining the experience, and this makes dedication even more important. It will get easier with every dedicated effort we make and every action we take to uplift others and apply the knowledge we gain.
In order to gain this knowledge in the first place, weâll have to transcend the overbearing influence of the instrument that helps us express what we know â the mind â and open ourselves to spirit and the perceptual wonders it offers. As long as weâre willing and we persevere when things donât go our way, thereâs no reason we canât attain this non-relative consciousness. Remember, itâs only impossible if we convince ourselves it is.

Dream Recall
Believe it or not, you can learn to recall most all your dreams. With these simple techniques you can start remembering dreams within the first or second night of practice. Itâs sort of like self hypnosis in a way. You are simply making suggestions to your mind before you are completely asleep. This state of mind is called the borderline sleep level. It is when your brain is most likely to absorb the suggestions.
They say that certain foods can cause bad dreams. Well I donât know if thatâs true but, I do know from personal experience that when I eat cheese or drink milk, Â I seem to have more intense dreams. Not necessarily bad dreams. Then again, sometimes when you eat food before bedtime that gives you indigestion, it might seem that it is causing you to have dreams. This is do to the fact that the indigestion is keeping you slightly awake. You know that borderline sleep level I mentioned earlier, so you are slightly aware of these dreams. There is one other thing to consider. If you are having intense dreams and they are in color then more than likely you are having a OBE. Out-body-experience or otherwise known as astral projection. We are not going to get into that for right now. We will on another page. All right letâs get going! There are 4 easy steps to this. Thatâs it!
1. Preparing for Bed: Try to get the body as relaxed as you can. If you have to stretch or even do Yoga all the better. You can even meditate to clear your mind, so that that you are more prepared for the next step. You donât have to eat or refrain from eating before bedtime. You may do as you like. Try experimenting with eating different foods before bedtime and see if you get any different results in the end. Make sure you have a pen and pad handy to write with next to the bed.
2. Programming: This is the most important part. When you get to that borderline sleep level (which is right before you are completely asleep) you must tell yourself over and over again that you will remember all your dreams and you will wake up after each dream and write down your experience. If you donât like having to repeat all that then try tape recording yourself saying these things. Make sure that you tape at least 10 - 15 min. worth. That should be sufficient.
3. Taking Notes: This is also very important. If you successfully wake up after each dream, then you must write down everything you can remember in detail. Write down whether the dream was in color or black and white. This is why we will keep a pen and pad next the bed. Make sure not to put it in the bed with you. You donât want to end up stabbing yourself in your sleep. Then you must try to go right back to sleep. Keeping the pen and pad handy. Hopefully you will go right into another dream and repeat the process.
4. Reviewing the Night: Now it is time to review the night. You will be amazed at how many dreams you actually had that night! I usually find that I have 10 - 15 dreams a night and sometimes more. Everyone dreams and everyone dreams many times a night, they just donât know they do until they try something like this. Make special note of dreams that are in full-blown color, for you will want to reference them once you start studying astral projection.Â

Baltimore, Maryland â This week, a 13-year-old girl received 10 stitches in her head after she was attacked by police at Vanguard Middle School in Baltimore. The entire incident was caught on video and shows the school police officer yelling at the small child for apparently no reason.
When the child, who was later identified as Starr, tries to go about her own business and walk past the officer, the officer freaks out and grabs the child by the arm, throwing her against the wall.
âThe officer was hollering at her and said, âLittle girl, get down here, and so Starr said, âMy name is not little girl, itâs Starr.â Starr came on down the steps, and Starr said thatâs when the officer grabbed her,â Starrâs grandmother, Vanessa Ward, told WBAL.
When Star attempted to free herself, the officer grabbed the child by the hair and began fighting with her.
At that point, Starrâs cousin Diamond witnessed the altercation but did not realize that it was an officer involved. When she attempted to rescue her young cousin from the attack, the rabid officer turned on her and pulled out a Baton, striking the girl in face. Diamond had her back against the wall and her hands up in the air when she was hit with the baton.
There was reportedly another unnamed girl involved in the scuffle, and it was later reported that the officer used pepper spray on all three of the girls. The school did not inform the family of the attack, but they had to learn about the situation later from paramedics when the girls were hospitalized.
âThe officer kind of comes from behind and reaches around and sprays them multiple times in the face with pepper spray. Itâs disgusting,â Jared Jaskot, the familyâs attorney told reporters.
