Using Linux is great because sometimes you'll be in Linux spaces and someone will not only share a tool that makes your life easier they'll also share the code so you can adjust it if you want
If you could use a song to describe the next chapter of "THE AFTERSHOW", what would it be?

âBecause the truth is, tech doesnât have an image problem. It doesnât have a message problem. It has an intention problem. Whatâs wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasnât successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. Whatâs wrong is that heâs trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product thatâs designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isnât that you havenât told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them.â
â The 40 Most Rage-Inducing Problems in Tech
Everyone should be aware of nitter.net
for any address to twitter you can replace the âx.comâ with ânitter.netâ and you will be able to browse as if you have an account. Lifesaver.
Similarly, imginn.com works for most Instagram addresses. I still havenât found one for Facebook.
also, tech also doesnât have a tech problem, the problem with the axe murderer breaking into peopleâs houses is not the axe, itâs that the murderer is intent on using it for murder the problem with AI for example meanwhile is not the AI as a technology, itâs that itâs being used to displace workers and make everyoneâs life more miserable
I havent fed henhouse in a while since I wanted everyone on a pellet for a bit but it was way less expensive this month so my chickens are like yipee wahoo
The fossilized remains of more than 450 whales have amassed along a 750-mile-long stretch of the Indian Ocean floor
GRAVEWHALE!
In the Indian Ocean, a deep-sea area roughly 1,200 kilometres long and 7 kilometres deep was found to harbour an ecological landmark site of
Okay seriously this is some fascinating shit.
And I donât know shit about fossils, marine biology or ocean research.
The Indian Ocean site is "far beyond anything we had imagined", one researcher says.
Fascinating stuff!
while sloan repeatedly appearing in julianâs room while he sleeps is horrifying, i kind of understand julian not taking any precautions after the first time, because sloan would probably just bypass them regardless. the real question is why did julian have, and why does he continue to have, a chair pointed at his bed
I mean, I also have a chair pointed at my own bed in my own bedroom, it's the Clothes Storageâ˘.
Maybe he didn't, Sloan just kept moving it.

Reinventing salads from first principles
The TNG writers seriously underutilized Picard's artificial heart. On a pre-warp planet or stuck in the past? Don't die. The autopsy will ruin everything. A shuttle's (or Dataâs??) power cells are failing on a remote planet? Get the jumper cables. Someone stabs you thinking they've landed a killing blow? Wrong. Solid duritanium. Technology scavengers realize the most valuable piece of equipment is in your chest? Run fast. TSA checkpoint? Heart confiscated (unless you put it in checked luggage). Bad guys aim a compressed teryon beam at your chest? Boom. Dead (it's okay, he got better).
I think a lot of this was intentional. It's not brought up because Picard doesn't want to bring it up. He doesn't like it. It's a painful reminder of his more reckless days.
But more to the point I think it would undermine the Federation values of moving forward regardless of your circumstances. You don't have to be augmented to be in Star Fleet. Geordi has his visor but that's not the reason he's a wizzbang engineer. TNG even addresses this in Measure of a Man:
Sir, Lieutenant La Forge's eyes are far superior to human biological eyes. True? Then why are not all human officers required to have their eyes replaced with cybernetic implants?
As a plot device, sure, I might agree with you that it could make for some interesting circumstances, but they would each undermine the message that it's enough to be "just" human if Picard only escapes via his implant.
