I’m sorry but the first two books weren’t even that good....dont get me wrong I LOVE the series, but it was Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows that really did it for me. Like SJM’s writing gets so much better with every book!!! i feel like an actual direction for the series was established at the end of the second book and Caelena/Alein’s character has developed SO much by QoS like she actually knows who she is now and it makes it so much better, plus Rowan is amazing, i was really tired of the whole love triangle thing with dorian and chaol in ToG so im glad she changed that

Can we talk about how often Sarah J. Maas uses “the males” to collectively describe Rowan and Aedion? I feel like there should be commentary a la Animal Planet. “And here we see the males in the unnatural habit, forced to cohabitate in close quarters with limited food supply and a common goal to protect their female. Said female is most likely constantly struggling not to roll her eyes at them.”
