most of the time I post or reblog some aesthetically looking photos but from time to time I love to shitpost so everyone needs to forgive me that it doesn't stay consistent
listen I love Taco Hemingway, I stand that he is the number 1 person with the best grasp of the polish language in mainstream music and it's not even close.
It is however a very common belief that his best projects are the first three and the following 8-ish never quite reach those highs. And while the quality of the music only went up and the craft of his lirycism never went down, it's puzzling why that's such a common belief.
And then you look at his first three projects (2 albums and an EP) and you see that they are all about a middle class, average joe's life in the big big city of Warsaw, describing the nightlife, the relationships and the biggest gripes and issues he has with it, and as he finds success with this kind of storytelling he becomes more and more detatched from that sphere, he's rich all of a sudden and he doesn't go outside among the average joe's and it's simply just less relatable to people. It's still compelling (tho he has that Bo Burnham thing called ''and now im gonna Make A Point'' and the point is sometimes more shoehorned in than others) but it's just not about the kind of people who mostly listen to him.
And it's not that music needs to be relatable to be good, but with his style of just describing what he sees and what he feels it evokes an entirely different reaction when the image painted is familiar and you can fill the gaps in yourself. A record about escaping from fame and a cult following and trying to find your new home, now that your home country is inhabitable to you and you can't even go grocery shopping without being recognized sounds compelling as shit, except you have to dig super deep in it to be able to find out what it's really about because it's described in such abstract and distant terms its almost like that theming was an afterthought. (Europa LP)
Another thing I have always had gripes with in his music is that he LOOOOVES to feature someone on his songs, which overall as the most popular artist in the country is a noble thing to do, you're launching the careers of so many people, but thing is when your wordgame is so much better than the scene you turn out lowering the quality of your art by letting other people on it and not workshopping their verses with them. His best features are with people who don't do Hip-Hop whatsoever (Dawid Podsiadło, Artur Rojek, Kacha, Rosalie, Daria Zawiałow) because it doesn't feel like competing, it's not distracting from eachother. You're not listening to the feature and thinking how much you would rather Taco to just write another verse here. My biggest beef with the Taconafide boysband (composed of Taco Hemingway and Quebonafide, two huge polish rappers) was that Quebo always sounds a step behind, always a tingle more sloppier, always a tiny bit less thought-through, which to me was so distracting istg. I feel like on his best day OKI can match him (Pieniądz i Terror).
This is partially why I think his latest 2023 album has one of the best cultural impacts of anything he released since 2016. Because it's so reserved with who it features and a big chunk of it are some of his most beloved duets with singers-songwriters. Reserves most of the feature runtime for the in-between narrative tracks that aren't songs and lets the fuckin main artist breathe for once.
Still one of my favourite artists and I still have his entire discography memorised but if you can't be critical of your faves what are you doing my guy.
Niche polish lore but there’s this song going around about ‘falling in love underneath a pharmacy’ whilst the only pic we have from dnp in Poland last year was Phil squatting under a pharmacy, just had to be done

She Epsilon on my Delta until I get arbitrarily close #math
they're "platonic" solids to YOU. I've had sex with them.
Programming is so funny. It says
"ERROR: int can not be converted to a string"
And you're just like "oh, okay. *adds ".ToString()" to the end*"
"Alright that's okay ^w^"
Historically, the high technical entry barriers to publishing one's own work has left indie video games vulnerable to allegations of "programmer art": that is, a tendency for the audiovisuals to be created by people who don't know what they're doing because "real" artists are barred from the medium by lack of technical know-how.
In this sense, it's heartening to see that coding one's own game has become sufficiently accessible in the past decade or so that we're finally seeing the fruits of the natural yet historically largely unattested-to counterpart to programmer art: artist programming.
Imagining modern magic as having rigorous syntax and logic akin to programming languages is so funny. Imagine going to wizard school and staying up all night trying to find a bug somewhere in your magic circle. Spellbooks are just documentation for that programming language with syntax reference. Theres textbooks explaining how to implement 「Fire Ball」 with O(log n) mana complexity. I know demonic asisstance is used by a lot of companies these days, but please do not use it on the final assesment as that will be considered plagiarism.

what's in my bag?
Idk why but I’m becoming like a weeb but for Poland instead of Japan. I’m learning the language and I have the urge to make żurek and kompot. I think my Polish ancestors are giving me signals from beyond death guys help
But the rest of you? Wyjaśnijcie się.
they name their kids after months too, there's that one film that describes what happens if you fall in love with a person who owns a name like that
or after the days of the week
the city-names are my last concern if you look at the spelling
