Every time i go to pick up an official paper, i already know i’m about to experience a new identity crisis;
university administration? wrong spelling
translator’s office? congratulations apparently i was born in three different countries
hospital? suddenly my name has accents.. extra letters
Every office decides to freestyle it into chayma, chaimae, chaina, chaïma..
And THEN we start the nationality/birthplace where I have to explain;
‘no, i’m Algerian’
‘yes, i was born in Tunisia’
‘no, that does not magically make me Tunisian’
‘and no, i was not born in Algeria either because my own paper literally says Tunisia’
Genuinely… i don’t understand why nobody can just copy and paste the information EXACTLY as it is. like is it actually that difficult 😭 why are we all making this harder than it needs to be? you’re stressing me out and somehow creating extra work for yourselves too..
Is it a fvcking curse? Bcuz this problem is following me everywhere…:'(
