with the crazy influx and rise of yumeshipping, i think it important for me speak on how absolutely disgusting and gatekeepy and downright?? wrong?? This fandom has become?? not only on a fans side but fucking dorian too

i’ve been into the arcana fandom since I was a wee bab (old ass), and Valdemar has truly become one of my fav character of all time (if not, the best character for me) I say this only as important context, and not to say i’m a bigger fan than anyone else and i’m the number one or whatever cus that just engages in wrong fandom etiquette.

What I am here to speak on is the absolutely downright weird ass treatment of OUR queer characters in the arcana fandom.

I have been torn down from fellow fandom members for criticising that Dorian promotes Asra and constantly calls them a ‘Man’ in marketing to appeal to their target demographic while disregarding their identity. And yk what that got me? I got called enbyphobic for saying erasing a nonbinary characters identity for marketing was strange. (The dorian devs also deleted my comments mentioning this multiple times from the post… sneaky..!)

Even worse than this is the constant berating people get for reminding people that Valdemar is sex repulsed, romance repulsed aroace. The arguments i get against this fact is that ‘aroace people can still feel those things’, and yes, whilst that is true Valdemar does not. It does not feel like proper representation of the aroace community if other aroace people remove that aspect of their character, which is arguably incredibly important. I do not think you can yumeship with valdemar without disregarding this fact, and I believe that is wrong.
