I’ve started panel lining the important details. I’m going to keep it lowkey. These are going to be marked off and done with a fat sharpie for simplicity. Don’t want to burn out.

I’ve also reinforced the cowl since I nodded too strongly and it fell. I’ve used some cheap plaster hanger strips and added addition neodymium magnets on the bangs to hopefully make it more resistant to vertical inertia. I’ll come up with a solution for the STLs at some point.

Lastly I redid the shoulders. The cylinder has a wider radius and I angled the faces to go around the shoulder. The first draft was weirdly proportioned and had some weird shapes due to thin materials

That’d honestly be waaaay more achievable than what I’m doing. You could probobly just have a half mask and affix it with elastic like most ppl do. The back would be covered by a green wig so it’d be lighter and breathable. And cute antennae. Obviously.

Mask wise you could get designs for more generic kig masks and just spray paint and mask for the green markings. Maybe get a generic Halloween store mask as a base? Maybe get those cool led masks/sunglasses? I think full face led masks are cheaper than I originally assumed…

And just wear clothes with gloves and a cover for the neck. No need to overcomplicated with foam armor and layers if a cute outfit will do.

I spent all month making the templates and armor by hand. I’m hoping it’ll come together well once it’s all done. I used a little wood filler on the gaps but honestly it’s the color separation that has put my mind at ease.

Learning experiences:

The masking on the upper arms and things to create the dark grey rings wasn’t as clean as I’d hoped. However the thighs will be partially covered by a skirt, so it’s no big deal.

I’m also redoing the shoulders. Frankly, I didn’t like how they turned out. I’m looking for other examples online, but none capture the cylindrical robot joint look. If my next attempt fails I’ll just default to generic shoulder pads.

I’m also working out covers for the grey sneakers I’m wearing! People who wear uncomfortable shoes at cons for cosplay purposes are simply built different…

My acerkig is trucking along. I reworked the shins to let me bend my legs much more and finished the initial skirting today. However some of the details I added with thin foam just shriveled under the heat gun. I haven’t template still but I mostly hope I won’t need to order more foam now lol.

The arms were a bit plain, but I’ll try to spruce them up to be more accurate next.

In retrospect I could’ve gotten some patters for like a clone trooper and modified it rather than figuring out patterns on my own with 0 idea what I was doing lol.
